Leaning back in his chair he looked at the reports on his computer. Rufus had put him in charge of checking the security on a building downtown and he was about to start laughing at the holes the people had left. It was a good thing they'd asked Shinra to poke around or they'd end up with someone walking up their back stairs without notice.
Looking around his monitor he looked at the mage sitting in his other chair with one of those bricks he called books. He'd been pretty quiet all morning after insisting that he come to the office. He had no idea why Kaleb would want to sit around here rather than at home but he'd been pretty adamant.

Kaleb fidgeted and tried to get comfortable in the chair with the giant book in his lap. The chair was fine for just sitting, but it was hardly good enough for studying. He could have gone home and studied there, but after Riley's mysterious illness, he hadn't been able to stay away from his partner for too long without getting a little anxious. He wasn't sure why, and he certainly hadn't said a word about it whenever Riley asked, but he preferred the awkward chair to fretting at home on his comfortable couch.

"That thing can't be comfortable." he stretched out one leg and poked at the chair with a foot. Kaleb had been squirming a lot in it so he knew the mage wasn't comfortable.

Kaleb looked up from his fidgeting and studying. "I-it is, it's really comfortable for sitting in..." With a bit of a huff he shifted positions again, trying to balance the book on one of the chair arms and tuck his feet up. "It's just not very comfortable for studying."

"If yer gonna insist on staying here while you study then we should get ya something better to sit on." He scrunched his nose. "Like a couch or something"

"Uhm, I-I'm okay, really..." Kaleb shifted again and turned to look around the room a bit. Then he asked in a quieter voice, "a-are you sure there's even room for a couch?"

"Yea, we put it on that wall." He waved is hand under the window of the office. "Fit perfectly" He grinned back at Kaleb as he shifted in his chair.

Kaleb glanced over at said wall and couldn't help but smile at the thought. It would probably fit just fine, and the window was facing south so it would get sunlight all day. "Where are we going to find a couch?" he asked, his book mostly forgotten.

"There's a few second hand stores not far from here. I'm sure we could find something that's pretty comfy." He locked his computer so that no one could mess with what he'd been looking at. "Bet we can sneak out and go look."

"I don't know if that's such a good idea, I-I don't want Rufus to yell at you again..." Kaleb said, but he was already closing his book and setting it on Riley's desk. Trying to perch himself in that chair was making his back stiff, so he was eager to get up and move around at least.

"Like he'll notice." He shrugged and got up. "He's busy in meetings and Reno and Rude are down watching the secutiry cameras." Which probably meant that neither of them were paying attention to anything.

Kaleb nodded a bit, this whole sneaking out instead of working thing was pretty new to him. Technically he wasn't really sneaking out, since today he was here to be with his partner, not work for Rufus.

"Come on." he headed out of his office and toward the elevators. He knew Reno would have gotten bored by now and even if Rude was paying attention it seemed that the big guy didn't care what he did anyway. Probably because he didn't care what Reno did either.

Kaleb trailed along happily, rubbing at his stiff neck a bit. He was probably more excited about this couch thing than he should have been, but it meant he would have a comfortable spot to study and he could spend time at the office whenever he wanted.

They got downstairs fine and since no one in the lobby would question a Turk it was easy to get outside too. "See .. told ya no one'd stop us."
