Most records of this First Gaian-fought war have been destroyed. Any knowlege of this conflict has been passed through the generations orally - however, one preserved parchment from this time period is stored in the Light Temple. It is a record of Light Magi who were enlisted in the armies of the warring factions and of their deaths. Over 487 private armies were formed during this war; their numbers ranging from 40,000 to 70,000,000 Gaians strong. The outcome of GGWI was the first, true seperation between East and West. The rulers of the strongest armies formed the foundation of what is known to us as the countries of Avalana and Jiyoukai.

Laburnum, even 5,000 years ago, was one of the largest cities on Gaia. The Kokiyou during this period was larger by several square miles, but its gates were closed to all foreigners on pain of death..."
For two thousand years this war raged over Laburnum and it's surrounding territories of Phoeci, Luoyung and Qualen. The result: Phoeci was sceeded to the West, Laburnum City's neutrality declared and lands of Qualen and Luoyung were taken by the East.

The 6 Temples of the Elementals were scattered across Gaia and with several thousand years of animosity between the East and West, both sides began refusing pilgrimages to these sacred buildings. 1,500 years of death and destruction did not cease to end this war.

Excerpt from Leo Incendie I's Memoirs: "The horor that filled our eyes! The ground around the Light temple was dark with blood - the white marble walls splattered with crimson and the wailing of all Gaia filled our ears. They had slaughtered unarmed pilgrims - mere children who were to be tested as initiates in the depths of the temple! The Avatar of Flame and High Priestess of Water were with me that day and we decided immediately that we must act. We must stop this war."
For the first time in Gaian History, all 12 Mages of the Elementals - the Avatars and High Priests and Priestesses of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light and Dark - met in the southern most point of the main Gaian continent and beseeched the Elementals to end the war.
The result was the complete absence of magic in Gaia for 300 years. Only those who were born into the Elemental Bloodlines had even the vaguest knowlege of how to communicate with the spirits. And for 300 years these families protected the Temples - and taught no one their secrets.
How such an event transpired is a mystery lost in time. No records, diaries, nothing written by the Avatars or High Priests of the Eclipse has revealed exactly how it happened. Only until both countries declared the Temples common ground and ensured the safety of all pilgrims traveling to the sacred buildings did those of the bloodlines intercede for all Gaia.
arrow 700 years Ago - The First Year of the Awakening
On the eve before the Eclipse's 300th year, Gaia was enshrouded in darkness. The moon was covering the sun - an Eclipse had turned Noon to Midnight. And in the city of Laburnum, High Priestess Seyumi Kaikou I stepped out into the darkened streets and called upon the Light Elemental. Millions and millions of light spirits materialized in the dark and spread out into the world, cutting through the darkness and finding their chosen. By the time the eclipse had ended, the Elementals had returned to Gaia, bestowing their powers upon their children.
