Sukari dozed in the shade on this particularly hot day. The shade was cool, the wind was slightly cool, but the sun was merciless, which was enough to make her more angry than usual. Not to mention the humidity! Sukari was surrounded by tall greens that soaking up every bit of sunlight to continue their lives, and kill those that would threaten them. She had wandered into the jungle, just to escape the heat.

She drowzily stared at her new scar, wishing she had killed the mangy mutt that had given it to her. Should the white wolf ever cross her path again, she would kill it without a second thought. She brooded as life in the borders of the jungle continued.

He was silent the dark green cheetah, his ears flattened back against his head, he didn't even scent the dark female beneath the trees. She was down wind from him and below him,her coat melding well with the undergrowth. His leafy green body plummeted from the trees with a loud, heavy footed thud and a squeel, which was the hog he was hunting. With a smirk and a short, rather rough puurr the deep green cheetah settled in to the meal before him. Perhaps he was being simply too lax today, ignoreing the fact that there could be lions and l;eopards about. he was usually so much more cautious but he was feeling cocky today. The travel through the trees had been a particularily fast one and he felt he had broken his usual time in getting to his usual hunting grounds.

His long tail lashed back and forth while he ate in smug silence, unaware that the female was behind him, so very near by.

Sukari turned her attention to the fool who made so much noise. He practically asked to be attacked. Soon after, she could smell his kill, an even more deadly mistake. Sukari bent low to the ground and crept towards the cheetah. She suddenly lunged at him, roaring and snarling, intent on both him and his kill. She landed behind the green cat.

Jani startled slightly, leaping over the creature he had killed to face the angry lioness, his ears forwards, his lips turned in a snarl. "Back off lady" he hissed, an unusually cocky word, especially to a lioness. The large green cheetah hardly ever stood up to the 'bigger cats' after all, he was a cheetah and leopards, lions, those whom were larger wer ehis natural enemies. It hadn't escaped him though that he was a mucled beast and his unusually good, smug mood macde him stand his ground and glare at her, though he was secretly ready to flee in to the trees if need be.

His unusual toes tenced on the ground as those icey green eyes watched her silenly contemplating what he should do, what was the task at hand? He wanted this meal, he hadn't hunted for a few days, it was his, but if he tried to atatck the female, he wuld no doubt break, or loose a limb. It was a conundrum, maybe he could blag his way out of this? "If you want to share..you can.." He trailed off glareing at the lioness wearily. He wasn't ready to give up his meal just yet.

Sukari was at first insulted, but she interpretted his amendment to his words as him backing down. She smiled a crooked grin, and sat. "Sharing is ok, I suppse," Sukari said smoothly, acting indifferent. "However, seeing as I'm the larger of the two of us, I suppose I should get the larger portion," she hissed quietly, a touch of warning in her voice. Should he disagree, she would certainly do him serious harm. She waited for him to determine his fate.

Jani lashed his tail angrilly, he was about to complain, but thought better of it simply turning his lips in an unhappy scowl instead. His ears flickered a little and he gave a short nod, remembering something his mother always told him. "Ladies first.." It was a some what sarcastic comment, but he would rather eat some, than leave the lioness to devour the whole meal to herself. He took a tender, careful step forwards, his icey coloured eyes fixed upon her as he waited for her to approach the beast HE had killed. Damn lions, just because they were bigger.

Sukari hissed as she went to eat. She always had a hard time dealing with those as strong as her mentally, and this cheetah had a fire in him. Didn't matter-- She was the one with the prize for the moment. She'd let him have some anyway, she didn't know quite why. Perhaps because of the fire in him. She respected that fire, no matter what it was in. However, if she could, she would like to douse it.

She ignored the sarcasm in the green cheetah's voice. In between bites, she informed him, "You would do good to watch your tongue around those more powerful than you." Despite the respect for that attitude that they held the same, he was pushing her limits of what she'd put up with.

He slowly hunkered down at the hog he had killed as far away from ehr as possible, his cold, icey green eyes never leaving her. He didn't trust her, why should he? She could kill him if she wished. He licked his lips in a disgusted manner, his top lip turnedin a scowel. "What makes you think you could catch me?" He raised a brow a little smirk turning his lips as he pulled a chunk from the leg of the beast and swallowed it without chewing. He had grown accustomed to eating swiftly so that now he ate more like a hyena or even a very hungry lion. he knew how to eat and run.

"I have held my tongue lady. You have no rights to this meal but I'll share it because my mother taught me to be a gentleman." It was a lie, the only thing his 'mother' had taught him was how to survive and he did that well. It was very unusual for him to stand his ground, expecially against a lion, he would usually have been well away through the trees by now. What made him stay on this spot and listen to this arrogant lion? Besides the food? the reasoning escaped him.

To his question, she responded, "I couldn't catch you immediately," Sukari got up, hackles raised at his insolence, "But I could hunt you down until I caught you. And when I did, I could kill you." She backed off of the kill enough to let the cheetah know she was finished.

The better question to ask was why hadn't she done it yet? Normally, if soemone talked to her like that once, it was the end of their time here. She easily could have, and it would have made for a better meal. Something, though, stopped her from hurting this... green abomination. He annoyed the hell out of her, she hated how disrespectful he was, but something held her back. She didn't know what, or why, or how to react to it; she felt so out-of-sorts.

His body tenced as she backed away, his head lifting slightly, weary that she may attack him now she had had her fill, he looked her over for a moment. She was indeed larger than him, though only because she was a lion. He was nearlly as tall as she, if not taller at the shoulders, he was far from as stocky or well built as the lioness but, he was a cheetah after all, NOT a lion. "I'm not an ordinary cheetah you know. Many have tried to catch me and all have failed." That cocky smirk again as he took another chunk from the creature before him and swallowed it. His gaze never left her though, one unusual movement from her and he could be off and away. She seemed oddly confused by him though and he in turn was strangely, pleased, tyaht he had, for once, stood up to one of the larger cats instead of high tailing it out of the place.

"Whats your name Lion?" He supposed he could ask that, far from the social sort Jani didn't usually midn if others had names, but he was curious, one of his great faults, about why she had yet to at least take a swipe at him. He was being bolder and cockier than usual. Was he perhaps trying to impress the lioness? Furtehr confusion washed over his deep freen maw. Why would he wish to impress her? She could kill him if she attacked him. It was not something he would enjoy! He liked to live.

"I said, immediately catch you," Sukari said, "meaning I'd hunt you over the span of months." She explained, having no idea whether she really could catch him or not. She assumed she could.

She flicked an ear at a bug and responded, "I'm Sukari. Yourself, cheetah?" she demanded. Her voice was as strong as ever, with a tone that said he was, at best, equals. She sensed a bit of confusion in the cheetah too. Why would a cheetah challenge a lion for a kill, risking its life? He reminded Sukari of an individual in her past who acted the same as he was. That had been the lesson that to survive, your attitude, as well as your body, must be strong. She decided whatever the case would be, she'd let him live... But that was her little secret.

Jani rolled his eyes. When you knew as much about the jungle as he did, nothing could catch you. His tail lashed as he stood and stretched out his odd claws. his toes long ago deformed from climbing instead of running.

"Jani'Esquuillo." his full name, "the few whom I know call me Jani." a quick lash of his tail again as he said this, why tell this, lioness, his name, because she had told hers to him? Rolling his shoulders a little his heavily set mucles tenced before he spoke once again. "You don't look like a jungle creature, do you make a habit of ambushing cheetahs for your breakfast?" a slight, almost cheeky smirk came to his lips then as he watched her those shining , ice green eyes laughing. He had never really 'flirted' before the dark green male, yet there was somethign about this female, he wanted to be cocky and strong around her, after all, she had rpetty much granted him his life, and his meal without much of an argument, it was something unusual to say the least.

"Not Cheetahs, per se... But other species, yes. Even weaker lions," Sukari admitted too easily. She never told anyone about her past, or what she was doing. She stopped herself there, before she told more. She had dropped her guard, not only that, but she could feel the corners of her mouth turning upward. No No NO!!! She scolded herself in her head. She was growing weak, and for what? This green... blob of fur?!? She immediately corrected her face by scowling stronger now, making her whole expression very strange looking indeed.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:08 pm

Looking at the female with a raised brow, a growl echoed from his throat, "you can't hunt yourself?" he shook his head and snorted, he had no doubt she could, but she could apparantly do as she liked. he couldn't help but glance over her frame, a strong looking female, obviously used to finding her way in the world no matter what. She strangely reminded him of his own 'mother' the leopard that had raised him to live int he jungle, to fly through the trees.

Jani acctually tilted his head when her face became a picture of, constipation? Maybe the boar hadn't aggreed with her? "You look kinda sick, you're not allergic to pig are ya?" that brow again then, his head tilting the other way. Why he still held his ground he was still uncertain, in such a state of, relax, he could eaily be bitten, chewed, clawed or even captured by this chocolate colorued lioness. He must have gone mad, maybe there was soemthing wrong with that kill? He never stood still this long, ever, especially when there was somethign bigger and ultimately stronger than him floating about. "Maybe you'd like some water?" he blinked and shook his head, did he just INVITE her some where? He was clearly asking to become lion claw fodder.

"Of course I'm not allergic to pig!" Sukari spat, trying to get to be her old, strong self again. Her face, however, contradicted her words, and there was little to no anger in it whatsoever. She got up, and shook her head. Whatever this feeling was, she didn't like it. It made her weak, and vulnerable.

Yes, it must have been the kill, She reassured herself. "Water would be good, thank you Jani." Sukari said, still very confused.

She caught herself doing it again! She had been smiling, just a little, but even that was too much. Not to mention, she said thank you?! She pulled her lips back so her mouth made a straight line across her face, hoping that she'd get out of this strange mood and back to her spiteful self. What was it about this cheetah that made her act so strange? She waited for him to lead the way.
