“Bored”

Nick tried in vain to think of something to think about…nothing he hadn’t already used up came to mind. Airport terminals had that effect on him, especially when he had to wait the as par usual hour or more.

“Might as well put my shoes back on, that’ll use up…5 seconds” he signed, as he slipped them back on, not even bothering to untie and tie his laces. He spent then ext ten or so minutes slouching ever further down, his eye lids growing heavier as the moments dragged on.

“Fine, last resort” he pulled out his DS, he’d been saving it’s battery life for the flight, but right now he was struggling to stay convince and he could afford to miss his flight. At least he had some ridiculously long and tedious bonus tasks to complete in Castlevania, that’d keep him going for now.

((Sorry, got to go after this.))

Michel paced around the groups of chairs, unable to stand still. How vould he? His first trip back to France in nearly 6 years...he hadn't even seen or talked to his mother in 6 years. And now, what was she going to say to him when she saw him? Probably nothing. SHe probably wouldn't even know he was there.

Before he knew it he was several gates away from his destination, which didn't matter since he still had an hour to burn. Suddenly, he noticed a man sitting by himself. Michel walked up to im and asked, "'scuse me, is this seat taken?"

The DS gave out a loud unpleasant screeching sound as the game over screen made its unwelcome appearance and at one of the worse moments possible too.

“Oh…err, N-no it’s n-not” He jumped in place for a second, partly because of the sudden monster than attacked him in he game, and partly because the person who’d just taken him by surprise. He wasn’t expecting anyone to be polite enough to ask first. He shifted a little uncomfortably in his seat before the stranger took his.

"So, u, where's this plane going to?" Michel inquired. Only after he said it did he ralize how funny it must have sounded. The guy probably thought that he was getting on this flight too. "Well, I mean," he added, "this isn't my flight, but I'd rather sit ere than at my gate - it has more shops. Oh, and by the way, my name Michel, what's yours?."

Michel looked the other guy over, and his mind suddenly switched gears. "Have I seen you around before?"

”Urghh” Nick was far too tired a irritable right now for random idle chit chat with strangers. But he supposed he might was well talk, he had the time to kill.

“England” he replied rather dryly. “I’ve already looked over the shops two times over” He glanced back at the DS, tapped the screen a few times to get through the menus and started the game again.

“Nicholas” he was quite uncomfortable with having to answer that, but, he had to try and be nice. “I don’t think so, I think I’d remember someone with an eye patch on”
PostPosted: Sat Jan 27, 2007 9:29 pm

"Yeah, I suppose so." Michel lightly chuckled at the eye patch comment. Michel ignored the fact that Nicholas seemed very, very uncomfortable talking to him. He couldn't help but add, "You never know though. Maybe that day I was wearing my fake eye instead of my eye patch. Of course, technically that would be impossible seeing as I don't own a fake eye. But still..."

He looked over inquisitively at Nicholas' DS. "Is that Castlevania? I bought that one. I must admit, however, it wasn't as good as I expected it to be, although it could just be because I suck."

He hoped his ranting didn't cause Nicholas to murder him.

As Michel when on about fake eyes Nicholas stared at the screen as much as possible, not at him, he knew he’d give him a strange look of he did. Instead of mentally worrying about making a bad impression, he was now worried about just how normal Michel may or may not be.

“Hmph, just because your bad at a game doesn’t mean it’s bad” A slightly annoyed tone in his voice.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:37 am

"Well, I never said it was bad," Michel said simply. "I said 'its not as good as I thought it would be'. That could imply that I thought it would be the best game of the year and when I bought it, it was only second best. Which of course isn't the case but in the same scenario it could be. So technically, you can't accuse me of saying its bad." Michel liked the word technically.

"What level are you on?"

He felt stupid. But then again who wouldn’t after that speech?

“Okay, okay…geez, enough with the semantics” He made a mental note to keep playing the game, maybe if he did he’d leave him alone. Though that plan was soon cut sort.

“What level?” He though for a moment, Castlevania didn’t really have levels, just sections of the castle. Beside he’d finished it a while ago, right now he was just doing videogames trademark “Next to possible” Bonus tasks.

“Nest of Evil, it’s a secret one”

"Oh. Okay." It was probably the first time in the whole conversation that Michel didn't have something to say. He hadn't gotten very far in Castlevania. So, he switched over to something he did know more about. "You ever play xbox? You know, like Halo? Now that is an awesome game. Superb graphics, don't you think?"

Xbox?

Why was it any conversation about an Xbox always involved Halo? there where other games for that thing. Ah well

”No, never played it, FPS’s should always be on PC, with the exception of Goldeneye and Timesplitters” He was sounding like a real dork now “Besides, games don’t need to look good to be enjoyable, see?” He gestured towards the DS, an odd triumphant “Oh look how smart I am” sort of smirk on his face.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 11:08 am

"Yeah, I see your point. But it is quite amazing to see ten years worth of technology incorporated into a game. I personally enjoy fable more than Halo, but that seems to be the most known game on the system. FPS's are a lot better on the PC, your right. Using a mouse and the keyboard to kill stuff is superior to using a controller."

It was good to be a geek.

This was turning out better than he’d anticipated. He supposed if people had one common ground to talk about they’d get along, for at least a while. “Yeah”

The DS light turned red. “Damn” He’d forgotten to fully charge it.

“Gotta save this for later” He sighed and slouched in his seat.

"Yup, you might want to. The trip to England is like, what? Thirteen hours?" He paused and considered. "At least you get your own tv -- and a whole bunch of movies!" He smiled, trying to cheer up the seemingly depressed Nicholas. "And a ton of games, if your DS runs out of life. Like...brick."

Michel really liked brick.

“Thirteen hours!? Waa, no way, it was 8 hours getting over here!” There was no way that could be right, geez, it was a good thing he was so tired, he’d just sleep.

“It doesn’t matter, I’m really sleepy right now anyway, I’ll just nap the whole flight”
