So all my fellow pit players out there, you know that the pit orchestra is way underappreciated. But just think of it this way; the musical would be total crap without us. xd My school is putting on Thoroughly Modern Millie. Oh yeah. mrgreen

Our school's doing Mame. and it's currently production week, so I get to live in the pit for five hours a day this week.

I played in the pit orchestra when our school performed Fiddler on the Roof. People have no idea how important the pit orchestra is. Can you imagine everyone singing acapella? Uh, no. Our play director was way slack though and did not get the music to me until the day before the play and it was some difficult stuff. I pulled it off though [for the most part].

I played keyboard in pit for my school's The Sound of Music three years ago. I'm doing Guys and Dolls now. I'm a percussionist... now. I got designated. I know how to play all manner of xylophone-type mallets, but I'm gonna need some Sirius help... does anyone know how I tell the difference between suspended cymbal and crash? All it says in the (by the loks of it, hand-written) part is "cymb". Help?

For some reason, my school always hires people for the pit orchestras for the musicals the Advanced Acting class puts on in the fall. They act like there aren't any students who would kill to do that sort of thing. ;-;

My school did Crazy For You by Gershwin.
Unfortunately, since I play the euphonium, I'm not allowed to play in the pit orchestra.
