Tiny paws padded along in whichever direction they wanted, steely eyes scanned the area for any sign of movement. There was nothing, not yet.

If there was one thing Kumbuko hated about leaving the jungle, it was the dry heat. At least she was in the shade in the jungle, but out here there was little to nothing to stop the sun's brutal rays from soaking into her dark coat. The young cub panted and stopped, even the simple task of moving was taking it's toll on her. Before she knew it, darkness was surrounding her, and she faintly felt the ground before blacking out.

She was walking in the strange land of tall grass, a giant rock was in the distance. "Hello?" The tiny voice called, but no response. Just when she was about to leave, she spotted it. A red shape in the distance. It wasn't who she was looking for, but she approached anyway. As she neared, she realized that he was huge, and dangerous looking.

"H-hello?"

When she finally came to, Kumbuko found herself lying on her side with a throbbing headache. It wasn't a normal dream, this was one of those strange ones that would come true.

"I just hope he's friendly..." She sighed, standing up and shaking the dirt off her pelt, looking around for the red dream-creature.

Trigger had left Mwana's side to hunt once more, another resting period. He could not force the other female to keep on going and well....she was just not one to hunt. He laid himself in the brutal heat as it pounded down on his dark fur. He was used to it being one from the desert. His paws laid one over the other. his paws upon them as his rear end curled up to his side. There was simply nothing to hunt today as it would seem. The herds have moved again and this time, too far for the lion to run and still be able to protect her. A princess...damn it, of any females that were out here, a princess had to be under his protection...

He sighed and stared off before starting to doze off a bit. It was strange, but the heat seemed to make him relax and yet the sight of fire makes him irritated and agressive. At least he was calmed down now. He cannot risk the chance of going beserk around Mwana or anyone else for that matter. He had to supress any emotion that could set him off. Thoughts, memories, words, phrases, images....

With a sigh, he closed his eyes and tried to put himself to sleep or at least rest a bit. Surely no fool would come near a sleeping a lion especially ones of such size and power. A hyena would be a fool that would come near him and as his reward; death. Red was a warning....hopefully, other's god that...just like that little female cub.

Kumbuko glanced around, and just as she knew he would, the large red creature was off in the distance. Without hesitation, she raced over to him, slowing down so she wouldn't make noise once she got close.

Kumbu knew he would be big, but he still seemed larger in person. He had a mane, that ment he was a lion. A sleeping one at that, or resting at least.

Unfortunately, Kumbu had a bit of a reputation for doing foolish things, running off to find her sister without any indication as to where she might be, for example. This was one of her foolish moments. She crept up to him, laying down in front of his face so that his eyes were level with hers, if his had been open anyway.

"Helloooooo!" She whispered, prodding his nose with her yellow-tipped paws. "Wake up!"

Trigger's eye cracked open, pale green eyes glancing back to her from all those times he had cried, too dried up as it was no longer as vibrant as he was as a cub. He quirked the eye's brow and moved his maw up into a slight smirk. This one looking similar to that other female he had met. It was a strange thought....were they sisters or something because this one had those beads around her eyes. What are these things anyway? He sighed and opened both eyes at her.

"Good....keep it down. I am tired right now so just keep it quiet...."

He spoke in his deep voice, rough and strong. He wasn't tired by exhaustion, he was tired of hearing her voice. Mwana's voice, her attitude....but she was still nice at times. She just needed to change a bit, but would she? Right now....he cannot stand being near her for too long. It was just...agrivating.

"I'm up, I'm up."

He replied, rising to his haunches, yawning off the weariness on his body. He looked around and saw an old gnarled tree, it still gave shade. He yawned again and made his way over to it, laying under it.

"Good, cuz I wanna ask you something." She said simply, sitting up.

"Have you seen my sister? She's yellow and pinkish and white. She's about my size, and she's boy crazy." She explained, rolling her eyes as she said the last part. The young Leopon honestly didn't know what she found so appealing about them, sure they were big and strong, but girls could do that too, right?

Her silver eyes sparkled as she looked up at Trigger, her tail curling around her paws. She didn't know why, but he seemed like someone who could help her.

Trigger smirked.

"A female cub like you? Hmmm....about yea high?" he asked, pulling his paw up to just about her height. "sleeps in a tree? Likes to annoy the hell out of males by tagging around?" a pause. "Nope, never heard of her."

Trigger rolled his eyes and chuckled to himself. He indeed know the female, Limbua was her name. She had ran into him during a hunt, he fed her and she stuck with him for a long while before he scared her off. Well, what other choice did he have? The female rambled on about how big he was, how strtong he was, how nice he was for giving her food, she is a very strange cub. Usually, cubs disliked the other gender....but her? That was entirely out the window.

"So...this female is your sister? You both look alike and she has the same dots around her eyes. What the hell are you guys anyways some leopard or something?" The Firekin asked, quirking a brow. He moved his paw away. "It's getting cold out, come 'ere...I'll keep you warm for a while..."

"Yeah, that's her." She said, drooping slightly when he said he hadn't heard of her. Kumbu was one of those types who put two and two together and got three.

"Yep, she's my sister, and we're half leopard." She sighed, rolling her eyes this time. She hated how she always had to explain it, but she figured she'd get it out of the way now. "Mommy is a leopard, and Daddy is a lion. Daddy is also a god, but I don't know what that makes me." She shrugged, unaware that she was one of few who had visions in her sleep.

Kumbu gratefully slunk next to Trigger. In such a big world, he felt like someone who could protect her. She curled up next to him. Limbua had a point, boys did make her feel safe, at least this one did. Big and strong, that was always good. But she didn't love Trigger of course, or at least, not like a mate. Though she could see him as being a father figure when her real father wasn't around. Someone to protect her.

"Say, what's your name? I'm Kumbuko." She said proudly, craning her neck to look up at his face again.

Trigger eased himself down and wrapped a paw around her. She was alone if she was alone out here to look for her sister. She was also alone, they were defiantly not around here. A cub so young out here....it was scarry to be alone.... well, he was with her so no stupid predator would dare touch her with a large Firekin watching over her. However...he could not keep her around with Mwana with him. This was not the time to be seen as a softy.

"That would make you a hybrid from what I have heard. A half breed...that is an interesting thing. You and your sister are the only ones I have ever seen... but I can see the features in you," he said looking down at her, his paw touching her body. "the body and strength of a lion." touching her tail and then her legs. "the tail and the tree-climbing muscles of a leopard....but there must be downsides to such combinations. You must lack something to have the other. What that is...I don't know."

'My name? Moto'Vianzio....but call me Trigger." He smiled a bit and put his paw back down over her shoulder. Now he has reason to not to return to Mwana for a while.

Kumbu smiled, "Really? I guess that makes me special, huh? But I've never been just a lion or just a leopard, so I wouldn't know what downsides there might be." She shrugged.

"Okay, well then nice to meet you, mister Trigger." She said brightly, curling up into a tighter ball of fur. "So, do you think you could help me find my sister? She just kind of... Ran off, so I need to bring her home." Then it hit her, she had forgotten to tell mother that she was leaving! She was doing exactly what Bu did, and she felt terrible for it.

"I should do it fast before mother gets worried, it's been several days now, she must be wondering where I am... But I don't even know how to get back."

"Sorry, Kumbuko...I can't help you right now. I am helping another female find a safe place to stay. But I swear that as long as I am near by, I will be sure to help you with what I can. A cub like you should not have to go out and look for their sister."

He smiled and rested his head down on his paw. A cub should be seperated from their mother either. He was and well....he regretted not being able to say "i love you" to her...not any moment in his life and she had died a pointless death. He sighed and held her close.

"From what I know, if you see a large line of green in the distance...that is where you home is if you live in the jungle since your mother is a leopard. Just nap now and head off, little one. I'll be here when you wake up but then I must be getting back."

"Oh, that's alright." She said in a kind tone, "Thanks for helping out, it'll make things a lot easier." She said tiredly, yawning.

A wave of homesickness washed over Kumbu as she closed her eyes, wishing for the comfort of the trees and the shade, her mother and sister and brother by her side... But no, she couldn't just give up now.

"You're the best, Trigger..." She said in a rather muffled way, as her face was wrapped in her forelegs. Slowly, she drifted off, strange dreams floating around in her head once more. Not visions this time, but odd and confused all the same.

Trigger smiled and curled around her more. She reminded him of Limbua....so lost and yet kind, but Limbua had her definition of kind. He sighed and rested his head and smiled.

"Good night....Kumbuko....good luck finding your sister."

He let out a mighty yawn and drifted off.
