It was getting cold out. very cold, and Loreena suspected it was only going to get worse from there, the bitter cold, and deep snow made it difficult to find food, resulting in a very slow moving, tired Hind, trying to save as much energy as she could as she waited for the winter to pass.
rearing up on her hind legs. she leaned up against a tree with her elbows, stretching her neck out in temps to peel off the bark that had no already been eaten by other deer. "come oooon" she grunted, her neck extending to its limit. teeth clicking together as she made feeble attempts to get a hold of something

There was never any rest for the weary, and that included the Outriders. Even in the cold winter months, the protection of the herd had to be ensured. Coming over the rise of a hill, his antlers could be seen before any other part of his body. The dark colored royal eventually topping the hill to let his deep blue gaze scan the frosty field. Condensation rose from his nostrils as he exhaled, a fine white mist rising lifting into the air and disappearing.
Turning his antlered head, the magificent outrider eventually caught sight of the hind nearby, trying to reach a bit of bark that seemed just out of her reach. He chuckled lightly in amusement, and softly stepped in her direction. "Perhaps I could be of some assistance?" he asked. After all.. he was a bit taller than she.

the Orange Hind jumped in surprise. though kept her balance. orange head twisting around, ears perked forward, her mouth fell open slightly, she knew who this stag was, she knew allot of Hind admired him, though she had never had the occasion to actually see him. or bump into him. to busy playing with the other Hind and the young, and the Outrider protected them. she felt a little out of place to suddenly be in an outsiders presence, especially this one. she had to admit, the rumors were not exaggerated "oh... um" remember what she was doing she looked up at the tree branch, pushing off of it slightly to fall back on all fours, she looked up at the stag Great fully "um... if its not to much trouble?" she asked hunching her shoulders an lowering her head a little bit.

The stag chuckled once more, before shaking his head slowly. "Its no trouble" he assured her, before looking up at the stripped trunk. Rearing up on his hind legs, the dark dappled male braced one hoof against the trunk and stretched his shaddy neck. His teeth grabbing hold of a piece of bark and giving a tug. A long piece ripped off, and he dropped it to the ground for her.
He ended up ripping about half a dozen pieces for her, as much as he could reach, before lowering himself back down to all fours.

She watched him as he peeled the Bark off, not saying anything and not eating the pieces as they fell to the ground, giving him room to work, eyebrow raised as she saw how impressively tall he was. all the Stag where significantly lager then the kind where, giving them a better advantage over survival. she continued to watch uncertainly as he got down. ears falling back in respect. the hunger in her stomach growling almost painfully. as she waited, as if to get permission before she ate.

As he got back onto all fours once more, he raised a brow in a somewhat bemused look as she simply stood there. "You can eat it, you know" he reminded. After all... the only reason he did so was so that she could eat it... trying to help her out a bit. Unless she didn't appreciate the gesture, in which case he would be quite hurt indeed.
"The name is Brychan, by the way" the stag now introducing himself, as the doe just seemed to be dumbstruck at the moment. He seemed to get reactions from does fairly often in that regard.

her ears perked forward as he said that. making her feel more comfortable about eating, she smiled gratefully at him and bowed her head "you are very kind" she spoke in a soft voice. then lowered her head and started to eat the shreds of bark hungrily. pausing a moment, and lifting her head, chewing hard on a piece that was in the back of her jaw she smiled "yeah, I have heard your name" she said in a good natured. "My names Loreena. its nice to meet you"

He wasn't terribly surprised that she'd already heard about him. Despite the largeness of the herd, things do get around and quite a few hinds knew of him. Although admittedly, he didn't really know the hinds as well as he probably should. Being an outrider came with responcibility and he didn't keep up with names and faces of the herd's females all too well.
However, he watched her eat with a pleased smile on his maw. He was glad that he could be of some help to her. As she introduced herself though, the stag nodded his head, "Loreena.. a lovely name. It is a pleasure to meet you as well. Although I'm afraid I've not really seen you before." He was somewhat embarrassed to not know of her when she knew of him.

"oh, well i spend all my time with the other Hind and the young anyway, I've not met any Stag until you," he explained, lowering her head again to resume eating. she mostly knew Corp. and the calf, but it was true, she had never actually taken the time to go out and meet a Stag. she was still very nervous being in a full grown stags presence. they were bigger then she thought, and there antlers were far more impressive then a Corp.

"I see.. I find it surprising that a hind as lovely as you hasn't yet met a stag. I would have thought you were in one of the outrider's harems." But that's what he gets for assuming, he supposes. He rolled his speckled shoulders in a light shrug. The idea got him to thinking... but it wasn't yet that time... and he would bide his time until then.
"I hope you enjoy the bark.. I should probably resume my patrol."

mid chew Loreena stopped, turning her head up at his words to look at him. not sure if she had heard right at first. realizing that she had some bark sticking out of her mouth, and probably looked really silly, she felt herself blush underneath her fur, and quickly turned her face back down to hide it as she finished off the mouth full of bark. lifting her head in respect as the Stag dismissed himself to resume patrol he smiles softly and bowed respectfully. "thank you for your help. I hope Herne grants you a safe patrol" she wanted to say something elce, but hesitated, wondering if it would be apropriet to say at this time. after an awkward struggle in her mind, she upend her mouth slowly "I hope we meet again" she said, though this time a little more timid, as if she knew very well she should probably not have spoken that allowed. but he was kind, and it was the truth.

Brychan turned and dipped his head lightly in acknowledgement to her kind words. "You're welcome... and I do hope we meet again as well." With that... the stag then took his leave. Quietly and elegantly striding off to the forest's edge, eventually disappearing around a slope and amongst the trees.
