I checked a bit and I didn't see any thread like this. I hope this isn't a repeat. I apologise in advance if it is (my searching abilities are non-existent at best). I hope it's not too specific or vague or anything either ^_^;
I sustained a bit of an injury, repeatedly, from playing a computer game in the last few days and I thought to myself 'Does this happen to anyone else?' 'What kinds of injuries have they sustained because of a computer game?'
As an example, I'll tell you what's been happening to me. Recently I got a DS Lite (WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!) and Pokemon Rescue Dungeon . . . Mystery . . . stupid long name thing. Pokemon. Anyway, I've been playing it for too long at a time (15 minute break every hour rule was soundly ignored) and I hold it really close to my face, at about two, three inches. I'm a bit short-sighted y'see ^_^
So, I think everything's fine as I walk my Meowth through the dungeons saving the other little Pokemon, right up until I look away from the screen at something more than a few inches away. After the point where the screen was, everything's blurred and double-vision. This persists until I sleep it off, which makes using the PC all the more interesting smile
Kind of odd that the only game that's caused this has been Pokemon Team Blue . . . thing . . .
Anyhoo, I'd like to hear if anyone's had a similar experience. I imagine there will be a lot of Wii stories, since we all know the Wii is a deadly weapon wink If my story of eyestrain is unconvincing, I add that I keep managing to accidentally hit myself in the face with controllers. Don't ask why, because I don't know myself. I've never even played the Wii.

Oh man, Injury is my middle name.
Let's see,
Gamecube. Animal Crossing. Washing Gracie's car. I managed to peel the skin from my knuckles. Make note, never use your knuckles to hit A and B as fast as you can.
PS2. Shadow of Destiny. Entire game in one sitting. Massive eye strain to the point where I thought they were going to bleed. Make note, blink on a regular basis.
PS2. DDR Max2. Fell flat on my a**.
PS2. Tekken Tag Tournament. Prior injury of a broken finger aggrivated.
Gamecube. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Have you ever tried to get four people to co-opperate on a game together? On an action RPG? Where you have a limited range of movement from each other or you will die?

Ooh, I have another one!
Sore back from having to lean forward to play Guild Wars. I couldn't move the screen closer sad I get rather annoyed when the health and safety booklets talk about sitting as far back as the controller/mouse/whatever will allow.

Celes I almost had an anxiety attack the first time I got ganked in hillsbrad foothills..... Ganked? I've heard this term, but I'm not familiar with it . . . sweatdrop I had a bit of a panic attack during Devil May Cry. Actually, I had a few. I blame the monster that could melt into the floors and walls and could spike you from below.

Let me think..... twisted
PS2: I was playing Jak3 (For like the 100th time! xd ) & I trew the controller up in the air & it hit me on the head..... sweatdrop xd I also was playing Guitar Hero when I hit my elbow. (AKA the Funny Bone.)
Gamecube: Super Smash Brothers Melee I pulled the controller to hard when it came out of the slot & hit me in the shin. Don't ask me how this stuff happens.
Computer: Guild Wars, I got strained mucsle in my neck & I have tendenitis (SP?) in my nuckles from typing too much.
That's all I can think of!

I lie in bed playing DS. xD After a while my arm starts to ache from holding it up and using moving the pen around the touch screen. I guess that's only temporary pain though.

I think playing oblivion in my little brothers room for 8 hours at a time has permenately damaged my neck and offended my sense of smell.

Guild Wars: Lots of back, neck, and should strain. Mostly cause my keyboard is too damn high.
Super Nintendo, Hook: Dear god, I turned the pads of my thumbs black and blue from playing this game for two days straight maybe 8-12 hours each day. Gotta love the days of the first game rentals where games (old and new) were rented out the same amount of time as new movies. sweatdrop
Never experienced extreme eye strain to my knowledge, but then I'm in front of a computer all day anyway, so guess I'm used to it. mrgreen

The only things I've ever had were sore thumbs from playing DOA2 Hardcore on the PS2 with a friend for a long time and a case of motion sickness when I played Half Life 2 on the Xbox while I was tired and had a mild headache.
