This is a private roleplaying / checkup for Aki Ana and her charge Meli.

Players : Tsu/Zavier, Aki Ana/Meli
Location: [ Lab 305 ] // Tsu's Office
PostPosted: Tue Jan 23, 2007 12:41 am

Tsu was bustling about the room straightening up stacks of papers here and emptying old trays of cigarettes there. Zavier, a puzzled look set about his face, couldn't help but just watch as the man did something never seen before.

"What are you doing?" The raevan finally piped up. "It's not like you to actually try and clean this dump up."

"Hey, cut me some slack. We actually have someone coming in for a check up and this place should look professional for that. Would hate to have one of the patrons from the experiment think I'm a slob."

"You mean find out the truth?" Zave smirked slightly as he casually picked up a couple papers and files to move into their proper place. After all... if this place got cleaned up, who was he to complain. "So anyway... who's coming in?"

"Aki Ana, one of Kyou's and Koyukii's relatives. Also her charge Melisande should be due in for a check up. You'll get to meet another Raevan today." Tsu said finishing up the couple finishing touches before pulling out the files he needed for the check up. All there was left to do, was wait.

Shadows stretched for a moment before the door swung open. The breeze entered first, laden with tiny white petals, and Aki pushed in just a moment after. Meli rested against Aki's chest, half bundled in a long black coat, with her arms loosely around the elf's neck.

For all the brisk worry in Aki's motions, there was nothing but a tired acceptance in Pasha's slow gaze. Though her colors had faded, hair paling almost to platinum, her eyes remained a vibrant blue.

The end of the Frei's ribbon had plastered itself to Aki's waist as she walked, and uncurled slowly now that they were harbored from the wind. As the air stilled, a few more petals found their way silently to the floor, and Aki's eyes settled with quiet pleading upon Dr. Tsu.

"She isn't well." For all of the color, high in Aki's cheeks, Meli was as pale as a phantom. That pink blush of health was gone, leaving a Frei with a tangled cascade of pale roses and curls, and eyes that seemed far too big for her face. Pasha gazed for a few moments at Tsu, blue eyes distant for all their focus, until the movement of the azure Frei caught her attention.

Roux? Two tiny spots of pink appeared in Meli's cheeks, eyes widening, until she realized that this Raevan was not Roux at all. She turned and buried her face against Aki's chest silently, still resting in her guardian's arms, and a new flurry of petals swirled to the floor.

Aki settled a hand on the back of Pasha's head, still looking at Kyou with a grim and worried expression. A moment later, she lifted her hand, and showed her palm to the doctor.

All the lovely gold of Meli's hair, gone. Glittering traces of it stuck to Aki's fingers, as though it had all been paint that now slowly washed away, and the elf's slender hand trembled as she fought to hold it still for inspection. It didn't seem to bother her that they were still in the waiting room. Pasha was sick, and she needed help now.

Tsu knew that there was a sense of urgency when he was informed about the check up. The raevan made up of the Divine Song essence and a muse's soul had found her powers. Only she was not able to control them, and seemed very unstable at this point.

"Alright, let's hurry and get her to the examination room and also see what we can do to reverse this process. Zave, I'll need all your help on this, if you don't mind." There was a mild tone of panic in Tsu's voice. This was the first case of something this grave happening, but it was an experiment after all. He needed to take charge and help out this patient.

"Even if you didn't tell me..." Zavier shot back, but thought better than to finish that statement and instead turn his attention to the work at hand. Touching the back of Melisande' ever so gently, he felt his nerves shake. She felt as though she were as fragile as the roses in her hair, and any minute she would also wilt if handled the wrong way.

Conjuring up as much warmth and sincerity into his hand that was touching her, Zavier mustered up his voice. "I don't know if you can hear me, but my name is Zavier. Tsu... I... WE will do everything in our power to make you feel at ease and welcome here. Things will be alright..." Zavier gave a hard stare to Tsu at that point. It wasn't a question really. It was more an order to Tsu that they would make things better. They HAD to.

"Aki, I know you must be worried, and we'll allow you to get a little tea or something to drink and warm yourself up from this experience." Tsu turned to the owner concern in his brow. "I do ask that you are there for the check up and work, just so you feel confident we are doing everything in our power to make sure that your little girl is alright. Oh, and we would like to ask questions just to get as much information about this as possible. Ill informed diagnoses can be as dangerous as no diagnosis at all. Is that fine with you?"

Pasha did seem to wilt at the touch, melting against Aki with her shoulders drawn in, away from the other Raevan. She listened, though, and as Zavier finished speaking, a crescent of blue sparkled out from the curls. Meli studied him sidelong, like a child hiding behind her mothers legs, and slowly her shoulders relaxed. They were nice words, even if Melisande feared they were hollow. All the same, a tiny suggestion of life, a ghost of a smile, tugged at the corners of her pearl pink lips. There'd been so much to smile about, once...

Aki nodded, smoothing one hand up and down Pasha's upper back in comfort as the Frei pressed against her. Her voice was tense and thin. "I understand, and no tea, thank you. I'd just like to see her...whole again." With the gold smudged upon her hands, and the petals littering the floor, it was easy to understand what Aki meant.

Ushering Meli gently along, Aki followed the doctor and his striking Raevan. "What...do you need to know?" She realized, suddenly, that there was a lot to tell.

Giving the elven woman a kind glance Tsu said,"I understand your concerns and desire to see her whole once more. That will take priority, and then maybe later once the crisis is averted, we can all relax a little bit. This is the first female raevan that Zavier here has come into contact with really." He shot his charge a teasing glance but Zave's attention was elsewhere.

Zave seemed determined not to crumple inside himself as the raevan first shied away from him. New faces are not always so easy to trust after all. Something he's learned all too well. "Please take your time getting used to me. I just would like to know more about you. Obviously you're loved - seeing how you are with this Aki lady. I would have liked to know what you were like before you were like this. Maybe some day I can...?"

Conversation was a little awkward, but he hoped his words were sincere enough to reach her. There was a fractured ghost of a smile on her face, and it was sweet none the less. He wanted to see her full smile for some reason. He didn't understand what this yearn really signified.

"Well the biggest question I have has to do with what happened leading up to her coming in here. Was there some event or series of events that might have sparked this? Not necessarily in home life, but something outside that you can tell me?" Tsu pressed. He didn't want to put blame on her, because it most likely shouldn't have been her fault. He remembered hearing about an all raevan gathering that went on at the same time as the owner gala in his apartment complex. Zavier wasn't quite born then, so it would be little use to question his own raevan about what happened then... but who knew what this path would lead to?

"I...don't know what happened at the gathering. When I returned for her, she was alone, up in the highest branches of a tree. She'd cried herself sick." Aki's voice was soft. If Tsu looked closely, he could see that Aki's hand had stilled it smoothing and come to rest upon Pasha's curls, right over her ear. She didn't wish for the girl to remember more than she had too.

Pasha wasn't paying much attention to Aki's words anyway. She was still thinking on what the other Raevan had said, his gentle and measured words. That same corner of her eyes was visible, through the pale blond curls, and Melisande watched him reluctantly, as though she expected him to vanish.

He didn't vanish. There was an aura of calm power around him that demanded her attention, like the hushed breath before a crowd bursts into applause. As she stared, wanting for the first time in so long just to reach out and feel the texture of him below her fingers, the first strains of a song she'd heard with Aki returned to her silently.

...I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder:
One of the four beasts saying: "Come and see."
And I saw. And behold, a white horse.
There's a man goin' 'round takin' names.
An' he decides who to free and who to blame.
Everybody won't be treated all the same.
There'll be a golden ladder reaching down.
When the man comes around...

In Melisande's experience, there was no such thing as coincidence. The world was balanced between judgement and inspiration, and the two warred within the slender Frei. This Raevan, he offered both, and she was terrified to accept. She simply couldn't bear to be disappointed again.

Aki continued after a moment, unaware of Pasha's silent struggle. "I don't know what happened." Aki repeated that gently, continuing with what she did know. "Before that, though, it was a street fair. And before that, a visit here, to the office. It was the same each time. They always...leave. Drift away." The sadness in Aki's voice was heavy. Obviously, the story was far from over.

"Roux is the only one that has ever stood beside her, and that..." Again, she covered Pasha's ears, letting the Frei press close against her. "...is for reasons of his own." She didn't dislike the ice Frei, but he certainly had the seeds of a dangerous, selfish nature that Aki wasn't entirely sure she wanted Pasha exposed too. She remembered the boy at the ice cream parlor, and Pasha's easy acceptance. Poor Melisande would offer herself just for a smile in return.

Perhaps it was in her nature.

"I should have brought her out again, but...she said she didn't want to go. I let her stay in, alone, and..." The tips of Aki's delicate ears trembled as they lowered in sadness, eyes bright with unshed tears. It was her fault Pasha never snapped out of it.

One delicate hand creeped upward, curls sliding back as Meli moved, and settled alongside Aki's face. Pasha didn't wish such sadness upon anyone, but it seemed that was all she brought. Perhaps this Raevan, Zavier, would show her that ladder and take her far far away.

With a soft rustle, something bounced and settled upon the ground. The head of an almost white rose, spilling over in full blossom, lay still upon the tile. When Pasha turned her face, staring fully for the first time at the Frei that had spoken to her so gently, her pale expression was startlingly clear.

I'm ready.

The strains of a song. Something once forgotten made clear, only to be obscured again in uncertainty. Zave looked at Tsu for confirmation that he was not just hearing things, but was unable to break his gaze off the girl that seemed so fragile. The lyrics of the song confused him, but stirred something deep within. It was a torrent of questions he wanted to ask, but it felt like each answer lead to a new one.

The one that finally formed on his lips was simple, yet strongly resonating from deep within. "Why must there be people to blame? Don't most people deserve to be free?" Even as he said that, he knew that it was not always the case.

"Hmmm... it sounds like because of whatever happened that night, it was the final straw that broke the proverbial camel's back." Tsu mused a little trying to refrain from using the references that could bring back pain. "Although I must say it doesn't help that she feels alone. It's harder to trust in others when she feels abandoned by them."

Zave didn't even acknowledge Tsu's words. They didn't need to be noted, because he could see enough that was one of the emotional wounds that she bore. Why wasn't this so obvious to the others? Zave wanted to scream at the humans to snap out of it and pay attention to who they were talking about. Was there something more that they just didn't reach?

I'm ready.

The words were simple enough, and the clarity in her expression was startling.

"You do realize that the path we walk, we will not be turning back." Zave murmured softly, but with a hint of finality to his voice. "I am not one to judge, and we will find a better place for all of us. You, your Aki and your family will not be separated. Sadness is fleeting, and you have as much joy to bring as well as sorrow. The desolation they show is just a mirror of your current state. However, before this journey begins, Tsu must make sure you're ready to endure even in hardships. Is that alright?"

Melisande slipped away from Aki gently, so slowly the elf didn't notice her shift at first. Closing part of the distance that seperated the two Frei's, Pasha hung lightly in the air, but reached for no one. She simply floated, adrift, and let his words wash over her.

Too much to understand, but one thing was clear. He had heard those words, those words between just the two of them, and Aki hadn't noticed them in the slightest. She didn't know about any journey, but she knew she was done with the here and now.

It was time to leave it behind. Folding her hands self consciouly against her chest, as though the room held a chill, Melisande met Zavier's equally blue eyes with a wrenching, weary expression. Her words were quiet, but they were almost regretfully confident.

"I will endure."

Aki realized the Frei had spoken, and looked from the doctor to Pasha with a wide golden gaze. The words were grim the way she spoke them, even in such a delicate voice, but at least she was talking. Taking Tsu's words to heart, Aki hesitated only for a moment before reaching out, catching one of the Frei's little hands in hers.

"I'll be with you. Things will be bright again soon." Meeting Tsu's eyes for a brief moment, hoping she wouldn't regret her words, Aki squeezed Meli's hand.

"I promise."

Tsu's eyes locked to Aki's and he knew that she was pleading silently with him to not fail her or her raevan. Trying to force assurance into his eyes and voice he spoke up finally.

"This is going to be a big process. I have a feeling that she will face a lot more trials before we finish this. It will be up to Meli alone if she has enough strength to face every trial, but what we can do is be there and support her. She can grow into a much more vibrant raevan I feel, but it's something she has to choose and face. I'm sorry that I can't be much more use than that. After all, this is a new process for all of us at the labs."

Zavier gave a small nod and a gentle smile, hoping that the warmth and comfort would spread to his eyes. He too started floating forward to cut down on the distance between the two. The two raevans never made physical contact, but that is not the only form of contact in the world.

"Understood." the tone was grim for the decision had been made. "We shall stop by the examination room first. Tsu needs to take a look at your physical wounds. Do not be afraid though. Aki and I shall stand by as well."

With those words, Tsu took his leave to finish the preparations, as Zavier acted as a guide towards the room. Although the other raevan was floating on her own, it was still clear how fragile she was at this point. There was a feeling of concern for this female raevan that struck Zavier.

Odd, I just met her. Zave thought And yet it seems she even knows more about me than I know about myself. It was a slight disquiet that she sent out, but still not that univiting. He wanted to see her well, to see her happy and smiling. Yet he could not do that for her, only guide her down the paths. How frustrating it is to be one forced to watch and not be able to protect.

Lips twisting faintly, Aki tried to follow Tsu's speech. As best she could tell, it was simply comprised of assurances. "I understand. Do what you can, please, and I'll help in whatever way is needed." There wasn't much more to say than that.

Melisande watched Zavier as he spoke, but her eyes were wide and glazed with exhaustion. She dropped her gaze for a moment to his gentle smile, and tilted her head...face lowered among the curls and tattered roses as she followed obediently behind the other Raevan.

Pausing in the doorway, one slender hand curved around the frame, Pasha peered into the exam room with a slightly troubled expression. At least, though, it was a kind of focus. Pale brows pushed gently together, she stared at Zavier as though he'd taken her to the wrong place.

"What...do I...?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:09 pm

Facing the confused look of Meli, Zave's smile turned a little bittersweet. He really didn't know how to explain any of what was going on that well.

"We rest here for now. There is a makeshift bed in the middle. I can't guarantee it'll be comfortable. You need your energy though, you said you were ready to move on. There may be more pain, but Aki and I will be standing by."

Finishing preparations, Tsu entered the room, with a tray of instruments. He swore that he wouldn't cut into the raevans, but still this state was the most urgent in any check up to date. These would be a last resort of course.

The silence in the stark exam room seemed to press down on Zavier as he floated beside the examination table. A pressure so unbearable and forboding, he wanted to scream out despite himself. Still no words would come to mind. Instead, all he could manage was to hum a low haunting harmony to something he couldn't even recall hearing before.

Pain. Nothing in Zavier's face hinted at humor, and Pasha found that she'd backed up against the spartan bed with a jolt. Her next glimpse was a tray of gleaming instruments, and the breath was snatched from her lips. Her hands reached blindly back, gripping the edge, and she seemed to sink a bit...ribbon unspooling slowly in huge, loose circles. Her color had faded, and as the haunting melody hovered on the edge of hearing, the girl crumpled gently back into a heap of petals. The Raevan lay wilted, motionless upon the makeshift bed.

Aki sighed, pausing in the doorway, but didn't rush forward. As sad as it was, she'd seen the Frei faint before. Pasha was the delicate sort, and the atmosphere certainly wasn't helping. "Just...give her a shake." There were tired lines in the corners of Aki's eyes, her hand settling upon the doorframe much in the way Pasha's had. "She isn't wounded." Hadn't Zave said something about physical wounds?
PostPosted: Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:30 pm

"Hmm... I do suppose there are really no signs of physical injuries for me to focus on." Tsu said as he looked at the charge. Still the wilting aspect was something he was unused to, not to mention the lack of color. "I suppose it was rather foolish to get ahead of myself and not run tests first." Tsu muttered as he set about removing some of the instruments that weren't needed.

Meanwhile Zave was at a loss. Was it something he did? It crushed him a little that he would be so insensitive, but she was so hard to read. The words were lost still in his head, but he felt that he was at fault.

"Zave, can we have something a little less dark and maybe either 1. lighten it up a bit, or 2. stop altogether. Did you suddenly go thick and forget that she's Divine Song?" Tsu said a little sharply.

Numbly, Zavier tried to search a slightly more uplifting song, but nothing came to mind. So instead he just sat there quietly and tried to will strength into someone he scared unintentionally. For the first time, Zave himself felt lost. How could he guide anyone, as he couldn't find his own way these days.

Aki edged closer as the pair discussed amongst themselves, and brushed pale curls out of Pasha's face. She was on her side, one arm folded under her head, and the other dangling over the edge like her gently stirring ribbon.

The only hits of pink that remained were subtle, her lips and the smudges of makeup around her eyes. Aki tried to wipe some of the makeup away with her thumb, and wasn't surprised when she couldn't.

"It's always like this. There's no place she's comfortable, not even home." Letting her hand slide from Pasha's head, Aki bent to pick up a few stray petals that had settled to the floor. The Frei stirred as Aki touched the petals, and opened her eyes, though she didn't attempt to move. She simply watched Aki for a moment, as though she was the only point of light in darkness, before her gaze settled again slowly to Zavier.

He was watching her, so carefully...it vexed her and soothed her at the same time. Feeling as though she should at least try, Pasha pulled one arm back, trying to push herself up, but failed....sinking slowly back to the makeshift bed.

"I don't...remember you..." Her voice was a whisper, trembling on the edge of nothing, but the Frei gazed sadly at Zavier as she lay.
