I was wondering,how many Spartans do you think are left after reading Halo:Ghosts of Onyx?I would say somewhere around 7-12 right now.

After reading all four books
There are only 4 Spartans-IIs and 5 Spartan-IIIs Plus Mendez, Halsey trapped in an alt dimension of Safety
The Chief is the only active Spartan-II left on the field (Maria is a Spartan-II in the reserves), and the last Set of active Spartan-IIIs (That Spartan Kurt and Mendez trained) left would total around 150 or less considering the suicidal missions they take part in.

as for actual spartan 2's left , there's Master Chief, Maria is retired, Cassandra who was we know is a spartan 2 that rights to chief in the Conversations of the Universe pamphlet for those who got the special editions of halo 2, and the others people have mentioned are in a certain slipspace bubble, so we won't be seeing them in halo3. as for the actual number of spartan III's out there, i have to disagree with some of the earlier posts . ( except for ODST_Knight ) . while i agree with the spartan III's that made up team katana are alive, but remember that before Onyx's active, Ackerson took a large portion of the Gamma group of spartan III's on a unknown mission. so whether that ended up as another suicide mission or not is yet to be discovered.
and as for nicole, i would say that she has her own place in the halo plot, as everything else halo related does. that's the way bungie rolls. but there's time travel involved, and that's why she's playing in DoA 4 presently and not in 2552

It also noted that Grey Team was too far away to even receive their MJOLNIR armor in the Fall of Reach, maybe they're still alive. confused

You know, I'm not all that sure. They make referances in The Fall of Reach, First Strike, and Onyx. But it never gives names. they only thought of them as Grey Team, ((The only things Sparatns can't do. Give us details on fellow Spartans >.<))
