No.. I'm thinking that it cannot. One may be completely intelligent in certain factors, but completely stupid in others. Lets see.. on an IQ test, they don't count off for not having common sense. I don't really know how else to explain it. Just... I don't think that anyone can have their intelligence rated completely. Maybe, it can be in one area, but not the whole thing. ;3

Intelligence is not set in stone as a definition and can therefore not be accurately measured in a universally real way.
In other words, IQ tests are a load of bunkum.

Can't be measured. My dad said to me that compared to how much knowledge there is in the universe, the smartest man on earth is very stupid.
Which sounded awesome when I was little, so I thought I'd share that.

There are many types of intelligence, which is why IQ tests measure a whole lot of different things. The two main catagories are fluid and crystalized intelligence. If memory serves fluid is how you are able to apply knowledge and crystalized is where you are tests on things you are taught.
Actually, the IQ "100" is what is considered average. Interestingly, since the 1930s the people who score a "100" on the IQ tests are actually answering more question correctly, so the westenr world is actually getting smarter (in theory).
There are intelligence tests in all sorts of thigns, like spatial, logic etc.

Can't be measured >_>, and really I am ok with that <_<. Intelligence is really just a mean of getting around in your environment, along with common sense. There are many example in time when someone who look less intelligence fooled some of smartest men in the area. Really, intelligence can NEVER be measured overall, (specifically? eh maybe). Our main concern though is our ability to think, instead of just repeating what someone taught you, and thinking will never be measured no matter what (wether overall OR specifically).

Intelligence in my opinion can be used in multiple stances. One stance is in Mathematics, another is memory, after memory it can be physical; for example sports.
Intelligence can't be measured yet. For me I'm good at memorizing but when I see someone pull off a technique that requires my body physically; I can learn it in a heartbeat. Long jump and triple jump is one example. You need to "learn" the technique and change it slightly to your specifications.
There are many people who are retarded in writing a language but they are amazing when speaking the language. You can be retarded in comprehending english but amazing in Mathematics. I have heard there are a group of people in Nasa who are stated as "retarded" in some areas but they have the ability to image the scenario in their mind in perfect detail (sorry if this is not true and you have read this paragraph).
Anyway Intelligence can't be measured for the moment and now I must be off. Later!

academic intelligence can be measured. but the more abstract things like emotional intelligence and common sense are harder.

I think intelligence is putting knowledge to use in a practical manner.
...but then of course, there are those interesting theories that are made simply because we like to explain things so, huh. Too much for me to think about at this moment. burning_eyes

Which sounded awesome when I was little, so I thought I'd share that. I have to agree with what you are basically saying, there are way too many factors to measure intelligence accurately, you also have to not only factor in book smarts but street smarts as well. A lack of knowing social customs in certain places can get you killed no matter how good at math or english, etc. I would laugh my a** off if I saw Hawking walking around the ghetto. ninja IQ tests are pretty useless right now until they can be modified to measure all aspects of human life which is currently impossible.

The latter part is just no fun and deprive us of our sense of security on some intelligence that we don't want anybody to know how smart or dumb we are in particular part of intelligence. Even if it is kept in secret, yet you still able to access your score on each part of intelligence, it will still cause us to lose hope if we found out that someone is better than you are in every aspect of intelligence, and that isn't pleasant.

Intellegence has everything to do with our creativity. Creativity has everything to do with our intellegence.

Intelligence is thinking rationally, looking at issues from all angles, common sense, and good ideas. These are all important heights that must be met for someone to be truly "intelligent".

And can it be measured? should it be attempted to be? what do you think? ps pardon any typos XP It's your extent of knowing the truth. Its being able to see the truth and not to be blinded. It's not becoming stupid and following one single belief because thats what you think. Its the power to question everything and the lust to seek the truth even though it is impossible to catch. It cannot be measured, because few people know the ability to find truth through anothers mind. And even fewer accept that to be the truth.
