Aww.
There was a newbie girl just now who posted in the GCD about which shop to find the "cool items" in.
Said she'd looked everywhere, and couldn't find the shop.
She had the same hair as I did when I started.
And the same mentality. I couldn't grasp the concept of MC's (DI's at the time)
So i decided to help out.
I sent her a TYletter from jan 07.
Explained the whole thing... how they work, where they come from....
it felt so good to help out a newbie who looks so promising!
*squeal*
Tell me your newbie helping stories!
Or if someone helped you when you were new!
(dammit, my NY res for gaia was to keep 2 letters from each month in my storage and not cave and give them away.... lol. doing GREAT on that one so far! haha)

The Great Erik Thats sweet. When In was a newb, I found my around like on the second day. XD But my friebd donated me a Sword of Aegis the day I joined. I just hope that the newbie you gave the letter to doesn't sell it, or quit. She seems promising. I'm talking to her over PM right now. she has good grammar and relavent questions. I have faith 3nodding When I was a newbie... it took me about a month to fully understand what the hell this site was all about haha, so I can relate to her having questions. I did get a nice start tho... someone gave me a decent outfit of commons my first day. Black goth boots, red kilt and a white striped polo top. Then i got a blue giftbox (first day!) with a fox tail. I was a pretty happenin' newbie haha.

I was lucky when I was new. My daughter made it clear to me that I would be poor as heck for the first year or so -- and that I wasn't to sell anything until after that. rofl I took her advice as absolute and just tucked everything I had into storage, waiting for that mythical day I would sell it all and be as rich as possible.
I've just recently started selling off my extra items, to fund both my laurels & angelic bracelets. Of course, except for event items it's mostly gone now and I have a grand total of 25k. Which is ok with me because I've finally found an avi I adore and don't feel the need to save for anything else. So I'll just tuck it away for another year... and then maybe I'll be as rich as possible. cool

For some reason, the only items I can't bring myself to sell (rather than the horns and wallet and my kitties which are almost ALWAYS equipped) are the pandy pack, hard shell pack and the sun staff---- for some reason, I'm holding on.... I never use them.... but for some reason... I just have faith that they'll be great items some day...... (well, maybe not the pandy... it's pretty hard to work with. not very good design)

I've given out a few letters to newbies who really wanted em. x3 Felt so warm and fuzzy afterwards.
I remember a friend of mine donated an OMFG to me. I've since parted with it when I was questing for my angelic pendant and I do want it back now. ._. Perhaps I'll take up a new quest to get it. x3

Wow, you all must have been on Gaia for quite awhile now.
I've probably only been on Gaia for... 2 years? Not even?
One of my friends recommended Gaia to me, but I never knew anything about. I didn't even know we have Gaia Collectibles.... or I would have bought them earlier... sweatdrop
But I started figuring things out on my own.... And now I'm okay with it....
I don't really have an amazing story to tell like you guys... ^_^a

then we've been on about the same amount of time, i think. my real Gaiaversary will be this summer - my second, i mean. i'll probably celebrate this account's Gaiaversary, even though i still use my original account from time to time.
i don't know that i have anything amazing to tell. my beginnings were pretty humble here; i'm an introvert.

Well, I don't have many expensive items. I got lucky once by getting a Magical giftbox. ^w^;
I had a Whip of Ice.... (which i like, what? 30 K now? I bought it for around 19K), but I got hacked.... =/
I reported him, but there's nothing else I can do.
Life screws you over and then laughs in your face. >_>;

ah yes. life has done that to me a lot. Gaia, not so much. but then, it will likely happen to me soon enough. v.v
i'm hoping not, but you can only have a good run for so long before something happens to ruin it for you.

At least now I know what to expect in the future... -__-;
All I'm going to do is get the monthly collectibles and wait maybe for another two years to go by... and I'll eventually get my ninja headband. sweatdrop
