Miamba had found herself slightly afraid of the dark, and overnight she had made her way over to the slumbering Ashado. She didn't want to admit her fear, since the young male had put such confidence in her.
The day grew light, as the sun was finding itself on another rise. The lioness was still sleeping peacefully, curled up beside the albino male. It felt so nice and warm, and comfy. She hadn't felt so safe and happy in such a long time, when Kizamaji, Siku, and Maziwa were still young. When her mate was still around. But, times had changed, and this time, it was for the better.
She breathed lightly, her nose twitching in deep slumber.

Ash's ears twitched as the smallest bit of light began to creep into the cave. He was.. warm. It was nice.. cozy.. secure feeling. But.. what.. was that fuzzy thing.. touching him..?
An single eye peeked open, squinting around momentarily before landing rather subtly on Miamba. It was awkward.. but.. it felt.. nice. He'd never had /anyone/ come so close before. Perhaps it was because of this deprived factor that allowed him to remain where he was. Besides.. his protecter looked so.. peaceful.
Well. That all changed as he glanced forward towards the entrance. With a quiet, somewhat surpressed squeak, Ash began to qucikly poke a paw at Mia's shoulder. "Wakeup," He hissed urgently, his figure beginning to shake violently while he attempted to hold himself in one spot, rather than running. "Wakeupwakeup! There'ssomethingattheentrance! WAKEUP!" He whispered, the panic beginning to rise as he stared at the longtailed, big eared rodent at the door, crawling along and inching forward.

The lioness' slumber was interrupted when Ashado went into a freakish fit. Squinting, she opened one eye to see what it was. "Ashado, its just ... a field mouse. They need some shelter too, you know? I let them come and go as they please. I do no harm to them like the other lions in the Pride. They have every right to be here, just as much as we do." She scooted back up against Ashado's warmth. She didn't want him to leave!
The little mouse approached Miamba, and she let it come right up to her. "Good morning! Sorry if my friend scared you. ... hes more afraid of you, than your afraid of other lions." She chuckled a little. "Feel free to make yourself at home." She whispered to the little rodent, smiling.
The mouse smiled in return, content, and it found itself scampering back out.

Ash tried to scoot up against the wall of the cave as much as possible to avoid being close to the rodent. And what did she do?! She let it scamper right on up to her! Protecter his a**!
Unfortunately for him, Mia had again pressed herself tightly against her side, hereby smashing him between the wall and herself. How on earth was he supposed to be able to get up and run..?! Was he her prisoner or smoeone for her to protect? Sheesh..
Ash only panicked more, making random squeaking noises and shaking violently as the mouse scampered closer and closer. Why was she TALKING to it? She was supposed to be scaring it off?
Fortunately, it really didn't stay that long, even though Mia had offered her home to it. A wave of relief washed over the male as the mouse disappeared from the entrance once again.
"I thought you were going to protect me!" He complained, trying to wiggle out of his smashed position before Mia snuggled up even more.

Miamba waved to the little mouse, a warm smile upon her maw. She turned to look at Ashado, sighing. "I am your protector, Ash. That mouse was never going to hurt you. He's one of the mice that visit me often. They keep me company when no one is around. They are true friends to me."
She kept close to Ashado. "Don't worry. I wouldn't have let that mouse in if it was going to harm you ... or me."

It was understandable, but..
"Yea well.. you could've told him that it was bad time for visiting hours! And maybe he's got a thing for big fluffy white things, not big yellow and blue things!" He yelped, still trying to wiggle free from Mia. Why was she.. snuggling up against him so much..?
"Stoooooop you're mushing me!" Ash wailed, adding onto his previous statement, trying meanwhile instead to shove the girl off.

Miamba looked about, blushing slightly. "I'm ... sorry. I didn't mean to do that." She stood up, and slumped her way towards the entrance where she sadly flopped over. She had some things on her mind, and had to think hard on them for a bit.
"Don't worry, i'll make sure nothing comes in." She mumbled, and then sighed heavily. A few moments later, her tummy let out a hunger growl. Ignoring it, she curled up more with herself, pondering. After her stomach made a louder growl, she found herself slowly getting back up. She looked back, a dazed look in her eyes. "You hungry? ... i'm going to go hunt for a little."
Without waiting for an answer, she disappeared from the den, heading out into the sunlit morning in the tall grass.

Ash hardly felt guilty about making her move to the other side of the room. She'd been smashing him against a rock wall, afterall. But.. he'd.. hurt her feelings..
"Hey! Wait.. wait for me! You can't protect me if you're not here!" He yelped, quickly scrambling to all fours before sprinting out of the cave to follow.
He'd never actually been /hunting/ before.. all he'd ever done was catch fish for himself. They weren't dangerous and couldn't eat him. But hunting..? If she was going to do it.. it couldn't be all that.. bad..
"Can.. can you uhm. Teach me.. how to uhm.. y'know.." He began, quietly, being the somewhat shy sort of character he was.

Miamba sighed lightly. "Sure, i'll teach you -- but males usually ... don't hunt. You just sit around waiting for the females to bring your meal right to you." She snorted lightly with fury. Maybe Ashado was different, though. If he was willing to give it a try, at that.
"Well, then. Since I have some help -- we can go for the big prize." She led him to a high hill, that looked down on some of the land. A large herd of Zebra was wandering through. A young one would be an easy catch.
"First off, you want to be sneaky, and cunning. Keep everything as quiet as possible, or the prey will spot you." She leaned down, so her yellow fur was hidden well in the tall grass.

"Oh.." He commented lightly, tilting his head. "But. Then. What'm I supposed to do like.. all.. day.. if I can't.. help or.. whatever? I guess I could.. let you do it.. and I can just sit over in the cave and.. get fat or.. something.." He added timidly, thinking the situation over maybe a bit more than needed. His attention was directed towards the herd of zebra as she spoke, however, temporarily dropping off these thoughts.
Uhm. Was she blind? He was a blinding white color..? An easy spot for anything-- probably was why he was noticed so often around here. Well.. he was decent at being.. somewhat sneaky. And quiet. He'd been doing it for so long, afterall.
"Uhm. Like this..?" He asked, crouching down awkwardly, but hey. "So. Do we just like. Charge them. Or..?" He asked, again beginning to overthink. "Wait.. but.. what if they run at me?" He questioned, a bit of panic jerking through him once again. Yes.. what if they.. trampled him? And then.. ate him? Silly white and striped beasts were things to stay away from.. why were they targeting them?

"Thats good!" She praised Ash, and then padded forward a few feet. "We charge once we're in place. I'll head in to attack the young and then you'll come in to join me. Zebra aren't going to protect their young from lions, they fear us."
She chuckled. "I'll pull you out before you get trampled. Doubt you will, though. We'll be near the end of the herd. See it back there?" She pointed out at a young, slow, and overall weak youngling. It struggled to keep up with the rest of the group.
"Now, stay put. The second I run to grab it, then you come down to help, alright?" She smiled, and then slithered off into the tall brush, unseen. She slowly made her way down to the racing herd. The young Zebra raced past instantly, and then Miamba went in for the kill. She darted out, leap-aiming for the weak youngling. She extended her claws and then lept onto its back. The striped wild horse struggled, in an attempt to save its own life.

Ash didn't have any time to think and reply before Miamba had already begun to wander off in the general direction of the Zebra herd. He.. was supposed to help..? Kill? Wait, what was he thinking?! He couldn't kill something else.. besides a fish..
He watched silently, cringing as she leapt at the youngling. It didn't take very long for a bit of red color to seap out along the white colored zebra.. and Ash didn't like it much. "Barbaric.." He murmered, sighing and crawling forward towards the herd. "I.. don't want to help.. that's.. sad.." He mumbled, although rising and moving a bit quicker towards Miamba. She looked like she could handle it just fine.. why did he need to help..?
And.. HOW exactly was he supposed to help? Ashado stood, looking completely dumbfounded in the mess of the dashing zebra herd. He'd never killed before.. was he supposed to know what to do?

Just as he silently questioned to himself, Miamba was thrown off the little Zebra youngling. Falling forward, she found herself quickly within kicking range of the little calf. In an attempt to roll to the side, she barely missed its attack. "Ashado, don't just sit around. ... Help me!"
She turned back around to scare it towards the albino lion. In a second, it was running directly at the male.

"Help? I don't know how to help! I can't even help myself!" He yelped, immediately beginning to scramble around. Meanwhile, that silly zebra was headed directly for him. With a second glance towards the beast, Ash attempted to 'shoo' it away, waving a paw while screaming, "Shoo! Go away!"
Clearly it didn't work, considering that he'd quit in mid thought and turned on heel, dashing off in the direction opposite of the zebra, making him look rather much like it was /chasing/ him, screaming and wailing while he went.
SEE? Everything was out to eat him! It was because he was /white/ wasn't it? Eyes sped around, trying desperately to locate a sanction. Thank goodness, Miamba's den was just a little ways off! Panic and adrenaline driving the adult, he quickly saught to see refuge in the savety cave. It wouldn't follow him in there, right?

Miamba had the chance to regain her posture and go after the little young Zebra. Ash did his job, at last. She lept in for the Zebra, and killed it on the spot.
A few moments later, she returned the cave. The dead creature fell to the floor, its life lost. She grinned, looking to the hiding male. "Good job, you did just what I wanted you to do. ... ... now, dig in." She leaned down, and began eating some Zebra.
