About the Stages

1st stages wrote:

1. A dream egg is weightless and translucent. The color of the egg suggests the color of the hatchling. Dreams develop their adult patterns as they grow. The color and pattern will be clearer at each stage.
The egg will hatch in two to ten days after a person first touches it.

Corinth as an egg: She was round and red, warm to the touch and gently pulsating.

Ophelia as an egg: Blue with an electric white streak.

Salem as an egg: A steady green with darker stripes. Tiger? Uh oh...

Shiloh as an egg: A beautiful translucence...red and a hint of a moon therein.

Iuka as an egg: Fathomless depths within. You could look and see forever in the depths...


Coal
Sentinels are born from flame. Each Sentinel manifests from a coal that burns with a cool blue fire. These coals burn without consuming and can be held safely in a hand. Sentinels remain in coal stage anywhere from 5-15 days.

2nd Stages wrote:

2. A juvenile dream is small and clumsy. Its mind is still nearer to that of an animal than that of a person. It speaks only in squeaks, shrieks, clicks, and chitters, and can mind-send only emotions.

Corinth as a juvenile: She struggled to learn to fly. But she had no problem with making noise! Awkward as any would be.

Ophelia as a juvenile: She emerged as a flower from bud. Gentle and shy thing that she is. Love and acceptence...

Salem as a juvenile: Emerging from his egg, Salem quickly established himself a sulker. Ever stubborn, trying to do it all himself.

Shiloh as a juvenile: Even more awkward than Corinth. Standing seems the unltimate challenge. Pinwheels wings when trying to keep balance, although it doesn't seem to help much... A walking disaster waiting to happen, I fear.

Iuka as a Juvenile: Silence...a faraway glance. The distance of ages...

2a. Female cub and 2b. Male cub
Cubs stand about a foot to a foot and a half high at the shoulder. Their claws and tailblade are soft and not fully formed yet. They are children, still learning about the world and learning to communicate. Cubs may show signs of emotion projection, but it is usually not under control yet. Sentinels remain cubs for 1-3 weeks.

3rd Stages wrote (dream and Nightmare only):

3. An adolescent dream is gaining some grace and control, and learning to think and speak. It still can speak aloud only in chitters, clicks, and squeaks, but its sounds are beginning to resemble words. It can mind-send simple words and sentences as well as emotions.

Adolescent nightmares start to differ from dreams at this point. They are sharper and leaner.

Adolescents may start to show signs of minor magical abilities at this point - a dream with a talent for fire might begin to be able to produce a flame above its jewels for a few seconds, a dream with a talent for wind might be able to make a little breeze blow.

Corinth as an adolescent: It was here that there was a hint of difference. Her wings began to flicker like flames. Her magic strangely did not develope at this stage, and she did not mindsend very strongly.

Ophelia as an adolescent : (Lucid Charm)

Salem as an adolescent : It was at this stage that Salem discovered the sanctuary that is under my bed. It is here that he skulked too, and here he haunts. Ready to pounce on the unwary feet that trod past...

4th Stages wrote:

4. An adult dream has a great deal of grace and balance, and a sharp mind to go with them. It can speak in its owner's primary language and learn other languages, though its speech will always be accented and croaking. It can mind-send both speech and emotions.

Adults develop their magical abilities when they mature; a fire-talented dream could light small flames, a wind-talented dream might call a wind, or starta few clouds.

Corinth as an adult: Going through a difficult period of adjustment. Corinth eventually came around. Her body is a deep firey red that can literally burn when concentrating. Her wings are yellow flames, and her eyes a piercing blue.

Ophelia as an adult: (Lucid Charm)

Salem as an adult : Still under the bed, it appears that the dust bunnies are his closest friends...

Shiloh as an adult :

a. Female adult and 3b. Male adult
Adults stand about three feet tall at the shoulder. They have mastered their bodies and minds, and tend to be quite graceful and acrobatic. Females are usually slightly larger and stronger than males, while males tend to have slightly more finesse with their magics, speech and projections. Adults have finely tuned telepathic abilities, and can project emotions or a wall of blankness. Some adults may be able to learn ritual spells as they grow in age and wisdom.

The elder stage is the final known stage that a Dream can reach. Their power and maturity are at full strength.

Sentinels become anthromorph at this stage.

These are the good, the bad and the ugly that have entered our lives.

Chaeval : The Dreamer. She worries about her Dreams constantly and never thinks she gives them the attention that they need from her.

Corinth : Matriarch of chae's Dream family. An elder dream of apparent power, according to Teratus. She governs most of the others with a velvet fist.

Reaper : If Cor is the Matriarch, he would be the patriarch. Having a strong, soothing presence about him. He says very little, so when he does, it bears listening to. The love of his life is Corinth's daughter, Ophelia. Due to her status as a daydream, their love is of a metaphysical type. Soulmates.

Teratus : Cor's biological parent. She is normally very close to him and he, her.
Dreamer: Prolixity

Precious :Cor's other biological parent. She is fairly close to Precious and she, her. She does not see her as often as she does Teratus though. Dreamer: Pyrobat

Halberd : Halberd helped teach Corinth to fly.
Dreamer: Zydeco

Rheidun : Rheidun is Corinth's Mate and love. Although their time recently has been next to none, she still misses him and waits for him to return. Dreamer: Auriga

Morrigan : Corinth and Rheidun's child. Loud, and very angry often. Corinth does not hesitate to scold her, but always loves her after. Dreamer: Auriga

Ophelia : Rhei and Corinth's daydream child. Lucid charm. Quiet, shy and demure, Ophelia cannot speak as she can only convey emotions. This she does in a multifaceted way. Her body language is another speech all its own if one stops to study it. Her true love is Reaper, but due to his status as a sentinel, it is a love that transcends all physical restrictions.

Akamaru : Reaper and he produced offspring. It was something Reaper felt needed to be done to create more sentinel offspring.

Arun : Reaper's child. They have not formally met.

Antietem : Reaper's other child. He finds her delightful if a bit energetic. She's a rambunctious rolling stone. Not liable to sit still for long periods of time, she's always into one bit of action or the next.

Kaori : Reaper's final child. They have not formally met.

Tiresias : Recent romantic interest of Antietem. They apparently enjoy romping about in the flowers quite a bit. >>; Go figure.

Salem : Moody and sulky as only the best of nightmares are, he tends to keep to himself and skulks under Chae's bed. He amuses himself there with the dustbunnies...

The ugly....

The blade court. The one and only time chae ever wants to meet them was when the Sentinels were first discovered. However, she knows such is wishful thinking. Like bad pennies, they will keep turning up...

Now, a couple of things about the Forest and the House. The Forest is the place where all the dreaming thoughts about the wild, primeval forest collect and become real. It can be a very frightening place; the boogiemen and closet monsters little children fear reside there, as do some of the darker, wilder things that adults will never admit they are frightened of. The Forest will listen to your thoughts, and if you're not careful, it has the capability to gather them up and show them to you. It listens to the thoughts of all the dreamers in it, both conscious dreamers and all the sleepers who wander, explore, and flee through it.

The Cathedral is where the House of Dream intersects with Wild Dream. Once we're inside, the House stretches in all directions, much like the Forest does outside the cathedral. It's impossible and paradoxical, yes. This is the dream world. It's how it works. The House shifts and changes in strange ways...

Our bedroom lies on the second floor in the corner. There are three windows on each side, allowing for maximum exposure. Which is good for all but Salem. Salem usually lurks in the closet area or under the bed.

Corinth's Area: Corinth has taken residence in the Papa-san that is in the corner across from Chae's bed. She likes lounging in the window and watching over the subconscious forest.


Ophelia's area : Ophelia and Reaper share an area at the diagonal to chae's bed. They usually claim the small couch there as their own, although willing to share.

Salem's Area : Salem rules the area under chae's bed. The dustbunnies there are his playmates and minions.

... something to do with his power? I think those dustbunnies move...


Antietem's Area : Antietem hates borders and claims the entire center area. Meaning she'll lounge wherever she feels like, but not get territorial about it.


Shiloh's Area : Shiloh right now has full sway. She spends her time pretty much wherever she's placed or stumbles to.

A strange glowing flower found in the dream realm. Prolixity stated that it is used to make an elixir. Turns out that the elixir is used to allow two Dreams or two nightmares to breed and create a daydream. This is despite the convention that you need a Dream/Nightmare combination to naturally produce one.
