This is sort of the opposite of the "Funniest Moments in M*A*S*H history..." thread. Which episodes made you cry? What parts?

Oh, I have to agree. I didn't cry until it got to the very end, though, when Hawkeye and BJ said goodbye.

One of the saddest moments that sticks out in my mind, would have to be the episode when the baby girl is abandoned in front of the Swamp. When Hawkeye, BJ, Charles, and Father Mulcahy take the baby to the monastary and put her in the round-about; this part always makes me cry.

I remember that one. What made me cry was Charles saying goodbye to the baby. I love it when you could see Charles Emerson Winchester's soft side.

i think the saddest episode was when bj, hawkeye, and margret spent their christmas eve trying to keep a wounded man alive long enough that his kids wouldn't remember christmas as the day that their dad died crying i cried so hard that my contacts actually fell out of my eyes ...

I think my saddest one would have to be Sometimes You Hear the Bullet, where Hawkeye watches his friend Tommy, who's a journalist, die:
Hawkeye: I've seen kids die every day. How come I've never cried for them? Henry: Because you're a doctor. Hawkeye: What the hell's that supposed to mean? Henry: Look, all I know is what they taught me at command school. And rule number one is that young men die, and rule number two is doctors can't change rule number one.

Those all made me feel sad, and the Sometimes you Hear the Bullet. made me cry too.
I can't remember an episode, but it was one where Hotlips was talking to a soldier who was looking forward to reuniting with his fianceé, but he died. A crappy summary, but it was very emotional, honest!

@Alice: I think that one was Hey, Look Me Over and I think it was Nurse Kellye.
@Roy: Yeah, that one made me cry too. Why did the puppy have to die? But it was a good show, too, because you got to see in that one that Hot Lips is human.

What was the one where Sydney puts this sargeant under hypnosis and BJ and Hawkeye helped to make the noise of the front, and it turns out that this sargeant's brother was in the same unit and was killed?

I also thought it was sad when the Korean woman killed her baby, not because of Hawkeye, but because you did see how sad she was.
I don't know if I could have done that.

I don't think I could have either, even when you consider that they could have gotten discovered by North Koreans had they heard the baby. What I find most touching, however, is how it affected Hawkeye.

That's part of the reason Hawkeye went insane.

I've thought about that for a long while. It always weighs heavy on my mind.
