Noyana had decided today was a good day to explore just beyond the borders of the Pridelands. She just had to know what the world was like outside the pridelands, was it bleak and miserable? Was it dead and dark? Or maybe stormy all day long?

She was surprised, however, that when she left the pridelands, the grass was the same, the sky was the same, so many things were duplicates of a little ways back. She wondered if creatures were different out here, but she doubted she'd run into one.

Venturing from the safety of her brother and the den and her brother's companionship, Intombi had stumbled along an invisble border. Her mother had yet to explain the concept of territory to her, and she had little idea that her world had boundries. As a rogue, she might be seen unwelcome in a pride, but seeing as she was nothing but a cub, most scouts would pass her off for no threat. Itwas for this reason she had yet to realize that she treaded a thin line between rogue lands and Pridelands. With a step light and airy, she trotted along this line, her tail held high as to not dirty it with no reason. She was not an entirely vain creature, but she did care for her looks more than your average lioness. her mind was not entirely on the matter, however, as she spotted what seemed to be a cub as bright as the sun. "Hey there!" She picked up her pace a little, excited to meet a non-family member.

Noyana's ears perked up at the sound of another voice. There are other things out here! She thought excitedly to herself. She was new to the whole situation of life. It was another lionness too, which meant she could tackle and wrestle with her.

Noyana too picked up the pace, her green tail bobbing up and down steadily behind her. She got to the mostly-brown cub and introduced herself. "I'm Noyana, who're you?" Noyana would barrage the other with questions after she knew her name.

Having never been a follower of the old 'don't talk to strangers' saying, Intombi was very quick to dish out information. "I'm Intombi!" Her voice was excited and rushed as she came to a stop infront of the yellow cub, sporting a million dollar grin. She found it a little odd that she hadn't seen Noyana anywhere before, since she sort of stuck out with that coat. Where were they, anyway? Her attention span was far too short to worry about that one, however, as she took a second to admire the other's coat. "I love your coat. Do you groom a lot?" She licked her lips and fidgeted her paws, eager to point out the pink markings on them. They were her pride, those little lines, and it was what made her special in her mind. Of course, the thing that made Noyana special were those adorable swirlies against the vivid yellow.

"Nice to meet you Intombi," Noyana said sweetly. She continued,"And... uhh... Thank you," Noyana said, hoping she'd get to finish her sentence. "Actually, I don't really groom that much. Only when my brother Chane gets a bath do I get one." Noyana said. She wasn't a big fan of baths. They took up time that Noyana could be spending playing, or hunting.

Noyana turned her attention to the pink on the other cub's paws that Intombi seemed to want to point out. She decided the girly thing to do would be to compliment them, but that wasn't Noyana's style. She was a tomboy, and instead, she poked the pink strips on Intombi's paws.

Having no one to play with besides her brother, Intombi could easily relate to a tomboy attitude. She ahd picked up her love of looking good from looking into the watering hole one too many times, but this had yet to prevent her from a good romp in the mud. "Really? It looks so clean!" She stared the yellow for a moment, a little mesmerized. She was geon from the trance rather quickly, however, fidgeting from one paw to the other with an uncontrolable excitement. At the poke, she drew back for a moment, unsure of how to take it. Her experiance in the social arena was not what you could call expert, as she had really only seen her mother and brother up until this point. Being a subscriber to the optimistic view on life, she took the gesture as play and was quick to pat at Noyana's paw in response. With that, she turned around and sprinted a few paces, then stopped and looked back, checking to see if the cub was interested in the play. Tag was, after all, an ancient ritual of all species.

Noyana let a huge ear-to-ear smile spread across her face. She loved the game of tag, even if that hadn't been what she had meant by that poke.

So they have tag outside the pridelands too! Noyana thought to herself as she started to play.

She headed off after Intombi happily. As she went she clawed up the ground, not really good at keeping her claws in when she landed on them. Little specks of earth flew in her wake as she cased after her new playmate.

The flashy grin Noyana sported only excited Intombi more, and she quickly turned back around and darted, spraying the well trodden path with earth she had dug up with every step. He looked behind her for a second, only to find that the yellow cub was hot on her heels, and let out a shreaking giggle as she ran full speed ahead. A tree loomed ahead of them, just the perfect place to hide. When they came upon it, she pounced hard, springing off her hind legs, flying through the air. Unfortunatley, she had yet to master the art of being graceful, and thudded against the bark with splayed legs. Her untrained claws slid on the trunk as she clung with all her might, attempting to shimy up. By some miracle, she was able to get up far enough to lunge her body onto a branch with at least an ounceof balance, and quickly pulled herself up. When she had situated herself and was pleased with her work, she smiled down at her playmate and called out cheerfully. "Your turn!"

Noyana watched Intombi leap her way up the tree. As ungraceful as it may have been, it was the most graceful thing Noyana had seen all day! It had astounded her so, that she skidded to a stop as soon as she saw Intombi leap. Noyana's jaw was still dropped, amazed that a lion could climb a tree. She finally realized that she could very well have swallowed a fly, and snapped her mouth shut.

"How did you do that?!?" Noyana finally asked, still amazed. I've gotta be able to do that too, Noyana thought, determined. What would Chane think when she told him she scaled a tree? "Make room for me up there, ok?" Noyana said to her new friend as she started to run at the tree.

She lept at the same point as Intombi, and gripped the tree's bark. She quickly paused here, however, due to a claw stuck in the bark. She took an extra moment to gently remove it so she wouldn't rip it off when she lept to the branch, and then she lept. Her hind legs slipped a bit, but gave her enough power to get her front paws to the branch. She pulled herself up from there onto the branch, beaming.

Intombi nodded vigorousley and scooted down the branch a little. Luckily, it was one of the older branches of the tree, and had fattened and strengthened with age, and supported the pair with not even a wiggle. "Alright, go ahead!" She looked down excitedly, wiggling her tail about her wildly. Her head lowered a bit as her new friend scrambled onto the branch, ready to pounce on her for support if it was needed. In the same ungraceful manner she had gotten up, Noyana had, too. Now that they were up there, though... what were they to do? Whenever she worked her way up the smaller trees about the rougelands, she did so to take a nap in the shade. Now was a time for play, though, and a light snooze was nothing to be thinking of. Casting a glance over at her tree-climbing pal, she shrugged absently. "So what do'ya wanna do now?"

Noyana ran into the same problem. She hadn't thought of what to do once she got up there, only that she had to get up. "I don't know... Pounce passers-by?" Noyana suggested. "Although, I'm not sure how many passers-by we'll get up here... Or even if we could pounce them." She wasn't entirely sure a pounce from here would be ok to pull off.

The thought of bounding about the tree entered her mind, but was quickly wiped away when she saw how brittle the branches looked. A disenchanted look spread on her face as she contemplated the other few possiblities.

With a slight sigh, she looked about her for something interesting. After several moments of waiting, nothing happened. A few more moments, still nothing. Yeah, this was deffinatley not going to work. They needed to find /something/ to do. Absently filing a claw on the bark, she ran over everything she and her brother did back at the den. Mostly, they just wrestled until Mama came to make them quit it. Wrestling in a tree wasn't going to work very well, and would be pretty darn hazardous if they tried. Her eyes scanned the area around her, looking for some sign of life besides her new playmate. "I don't see any passers-by. What a shame." Her eyes flitted up to the top of the tree for a moment, but found nothing. "Maybe we could go find the nearest watering hole for a swim?" She very much liked that idea, as the day could only get hotter. Of course, it meant giving up their perch, but she thought she could handle it.

Noyana perked up at the suggestion. Hot days were the worst, and she had passed a watering hole on her way out here! She could take Inotombi straight to one!

"That sounds like a great idea!" Noyana said happily. But now the task at hand was getting out of the tree. Noyana scanned the lower "branches" -- if they could be called that-- and looked for knots in the tree. She planned her decent, and suddenly sprung for a big bend in the tree. She landed on it just as she had planned, and pushed off for the ground, landing in an ungraceful pile at the base of the tree. She got up and called back to Intombi, "I saw a water hole on my way out, we can go there."

She waited for her friend to come out of the tree.

After watching Noyana do a rather complicated series of moves to get on the ground, Intombi opted for the far less theatrical version; the shimmy. Digging her front claws into the ark, she swung her back end around and onto the trunk gripping hard. From there, she pracitcally crawled down rump first, slowly moving one paw at a time. Towards the end, however, she lost her grip and slid down to the ground, landing with a light thump in a tangled heap of cub and dust. With a little sneeze, she stood up and shook the dust out of her fur before turning around to face her friend with a grin. "Awesome! You lead." She bounded over to her, even though it was only a few paces in length. Her fur was going to be nice and clean soon, and she'd have lots of fun getting it that way. Watering holes were her favorite things in the whole wide world! At least, the world she knew of.

"Alright, this way." Noyana said cheerily as she lead the way. She decided to make some conversation. "So you're not from the Pridelands?" That had been Noyana's purpose in coming out here, to find out what it was like for those who didn't dwell within the borders. What a perfect way to find the answers, to ask someone who lived there.
