An intimidating figure, that of an enormous hyena, loomed on the horizon of the elephant graveyard. His head held low and hump on his back very prominent, the creature loped across the dusty wasteland. It was a scary sight indeed, for anyone, as this hyena was huge. But, he was only intimidating from a distance. The beast trudging around was none other than Mabozi, the son of the alpha, and the useless non-heir of the pack. Extremely dim-witted and simple minded, Mabozi didn't do too much at all except wander around and play. Though a grown adult, Mabozi didn't see himself as one. Sure, he was big, but in his head, he was still a little pup. And that was just how he acted.
Suddenly, the hyena stopped, and a loud gasp of surprise echoed out over the graveyard. With a burst of speed, the hyena turned to his side, pouncing into the rib cage of a once regal elephant. After a bit of rustling, he emerged... Or tried to exit in between the rib openings, but the large, long bone that he held in his mouth was not letting him slip through the space between the ribs. Great, he was stuck! What was a Mabozi to do...

Moving through the shadows and bones as she was wont to do, a darker hyena paced. Left eye blinded by an encounter with a lion, the attitude of the female bubbled rather clearly in her pacing. Growling to herself, she stopped and smacked a bone with her paw. As the little bleached bone bounced off, another sound came to the dark female's ears. A turn of the head and deep blue eyes narrowed at the sight before her. Mabozi, the son of the alpha, was... Stuck. Or looked stuck. An exasperated sigh escaped the adolescent as she stalked over. No longer was she small and weak, but now... She was growing bigger. She could bring down real prey now. A lion cub would be easier to pick off than before, that was for sure. And here she was, tending to the village idiot. "If you tilted the bone so it goes up and down, it'll go out of the ribbs easier."

Mabozi had started whimpering rather loudly, though the sound was muffed by the bone in his mouth. He didn't like this idea of being stuck and helpless. He would've noticed Schatz coming up on him... If he hadn't be so preoccupied that is. At the female's words, Mabozi jumped in surprise, a small squeal of shock escaping through the side of his mouth. With wide, emerald eyes, Mabozi stared at the hyena. Honestly, he had no idea who she was, even though he'd seen her on multiple occasions. He hadn't seen head or hide of her in months, which in Mabozi's system, had caused her to be buried in the memory bank.
The large male blinked as he was spoken to, nodding and grinning as if he understood exactly what the female had told him. He backed up, once again trying the rib barrier, but alas, the bone still blocked him from exiting. He tried this again a few times, with no avail. Finally, he looked again to the bone marked female and titled his head in confusion. At that instant, his paws propelled him foreward and though he was met with some resistance, he made it out.
Surprised, Mabozi let out a leap of joy, opening his mouth and cackling loudly and extatically, the bone clattering to the ground. Well that had been extremely a pointless ordeal, but Mabozi didn't seem to notice that. He simply smiled to the other hyena with his characteristic idiot smile,
"THANK THA'! Tha' saved me! Frien's now!"
Mabozi then butted his massive head into Schatz's shoulder in a kind of rough nuzzle of appreciation, and then quickly bounced to her side. Mabozi's voice was deep, very adult, but there was a tone of playfullness and sincerity to it. An odd mix indeed.

Heavily resisting the urge to bite him for touching her, Schatz watched the older hyena bouncing around. Village idiot indeed... She wondered for a moment just why anyone had even bothered, then decided that maybe every land needed an idiot. Swishing her bi-colored tail, the bone-marked hyena went back to slight pacing as she watched the other. "What were you doing in there, anyway?" She chose to ignore the 'friends' comment. "Nothing can be so interesting that it's worth getting stuck."

Mabozi giggled at the female's comment. Anyone with a brain could see what he was doing of course!
"Silly! I were prowlin', like MaMa tole me to! AN' THEN, I seen a bone, lookin' tasty, so I went and I got stuck!"
Mabozi accounted to this with sheer excitement in his voice. It was the little things that kept Mabozi as happy as he was. He found joy in anything, even if it was just a large bone... And the rest of the graveyard was littered with them. But that bone had been special. With a beaming smile, Mabozi looked to the bone on the ground and nudged it to his companion,
"For tha'!"
Another toothy grin emerged as Mabozi's ears perked up and foreward, further intensifying his excitement. His scraggly tail wagged in circles like a mad puppy dog.
"What's tha's name? I'm M'bozi"

Prowling... Ah, so that was it. The female sat down, watching the male. Okay, she had to admit... He was a bit charming... In an idiotic sort of way. With a bit of a grunt, she accepted the bone he'd offered, chewing it a bit before an ear flicked to his question. Schatz sat up, considering if she should answer the question or not. After a moment of deliberation, she decided it'd be worth it to answer. "The name's Schatz. We met some time ago. We were both smaller." She paused. "A lot smaller."

Mabozi cooed childishly as the hyena accepted his gift. His eyes turned all squinted as his face smunched into an adorable, baby-like grin. Making others happy made him happy. Happier than finding bones to keep for himself made him for sure. Mabozi's facial features relaxed as her comment. Schatz. SchatzSchatzSchatz. With luck, he'd remember it. But at least he'd remember what she looked like. Bones. She looked like bones. Mabozi loved bones.
"I LOVE BONES!"
The male sang out his thoughts, gruff voice wavering in a lyrical tone. He did pause, however, blinking in an almost confused manner.
"Smaller? Bozi is smaller already!"

Okay, he was irritating again. And yet still charming in his innoccent way. Schatz glanced at her side, eyeing her bone markings. A sigh escaped. There was no way to escape it, she looked like bones. "Nice to know that, Mabozi."
One large ear flicked and the female flipped her white hair out of her face. "You kidding me? You're one of the biggest hyenas I've ever seen!" Okay, more points for the idiot. His large stature could mean a large stature passed on to whatever daughters he sired. As if to prove her point of his large size, she went and stood next to him. "Look, I have to look UP at you."

Mabozi giggled at Schatz's comment. She had to be kidding, he was just a pup, no way was he big! Mafa did always tell him he was big, and his head filled with hot air, but he had always assumed it was just a motherly teasing. He didn't want to grow up, because if he did, Mafa would make him face the lions, and he was too scared of that.
Mabozi flinched a little as Schatz stood next to him. He looked down at her, not exactly registering anything at all. Their shoulders were touching, and when Mabozi inhaled a breath, her girly scent flooded his senses. The hyena frowed, but almost instantaneously, that frown dissapeared and a seductive smirk took it's place.
The experssion in the male's eyes changed as well. No longer did they look dumbfounded and innocent. Not in the least bit. Now the hyena's eyes shone with an element of sheer lust, and his gaze settled right on the female next to him. When he spoke, his voice was smooth and almost at a relaxed purr,
"Hmmm, Schatz is it now. You're right, I am big. REAL big."
He nudged Schatz with his head, winking at her as he did so. It was obvious that this was not Mabozi. Well, in body it was, but in mind, this was a different creature completely. This had happened before, when the male had gone beserk, ripping a full grown lion to shreds in a matter of moments. That had been Mwuaji, as he had called himself. But who was this?

The female blinked, looking at Mabozi with his sudden change of character. The look in his eyes(Or the eye she could see) made her shiver. Why, she wasn't sure. Somehow, it registered as a good shiver. Ears moving back a bit, the younger hyena started to lean in closer. About that time, her brain registered what was going on, causing her to jump and skitter a distance away. What was THAT?! Something was drastically different about Mabozi. Or WAS it Mabozi? Schatz had heard about animals that went from being one way to another at the slightest trigger. Was he like that? It got at her somehow.

Mabozi, or whoever he was, didn't flinch as Schatz skittered away from him. He simply rose a brow and moved languidly after her,
"Playing hard to get, are we?"
The male chuckled, not in a regular Mabozi gigglish way, but in a very manly way. This character could be very charming... In a rather perverted kind of way. Sashaying closer, he halted near her once again, winking.
"What's the matter lovely? Don't want to play? Don't worry, Mabozi'll never find out."

Utterly startled by the change, Schatz watched the male warily. No, not Mabozi... Mabozi didn't refer to himself in third person... Nor did he apparently talk like this guy did. Ears flattening back, the female eyed the other. "Who are you? And just where is Mabozi?" Somewhere in the male's mind, obviously... Where in the mind, one couldn't be certain. But it wasn't like she knew that. How could she? All she knew was that one moment it was Mabozi, the next... It was someone else. And yet, it was still Mabozi's body...

Another suave chuckle surfaced as the male advanced even further. My, my, what an inquisitive one. Finally, satisfied with the closeness between them for the second, the hyena sat about a foot from Schatz, elegantly tossing his mane before responding.
"I'm Mrongo, and let's just say thaaaaaat... Mabozi decided to take himself a nap. Being himself can be awful tiring, trust me, we all can't stand him just as much as the rest of you can't."
Mrongo sighed, rolling his eyes about, looking around the graveyard before finally settling his gaze on Schatz. She was still young, but she'd have to suit him for now.

Dark ears flattened back, single eye glaring. "Mrongo... Well... Don't come near me..." Her hackles raised up, though not by instinct. She had her dignity to save, after all. Edging around him a bit, she kept her tail low. It could prove a good shield against... Certain things. A growl emenated from her throat, warning him not to come too close.

Mrongo huffed, as if he were greatly insulted. His head jerked in a tilt to the side, chest puffing up.
"Not come near you? Dearest, why not?!"
Boy oh boy, she was acting like quite the stubborn little brat, this one. Getting all defensive like that, as if she was going to fight him. Oh the nerve. But, he would never harm a lady, Mrongo was a lover, not a fighter, of course. Or perhaps he was more of a player. Either way, drawing blood was not his idea of a good time. Tossing his mane in an suave fashion, he smirked at Schatz, winking after he spoke,
"Loosen up honey, you're overdue for a good time."
