I always hear about everyone hating Tea. I dont like her either but I was wondering who does. I have seen lots of debates about this. So do you like Tea?

I dont like her, mainly because she is a whimp that cant duel. I liked all the other girls in the show, Mai and even Rebecca even though she is a brat I liked that she could duel well. I liked Serenity too even though she didnt duel well but she wasnt as mush of a pathetic excuse as Tea. Its an embarressment just thinking about it. I've tried to like her, think of her as a useful and good character. But I just dont like her.

I dont like her either but she was just soo hot when she was dancing against that really annoying guy in season 2. She was playing DDR and that is just too cool. She was throwing her clothes off and everything, which is hot. But as for dueling, scream scream scream she sucks big time.

I don't like her because she scares me. She is a friendship demon and that is all she ever talks about. "Friendship shall pull us through guys, so stay strong!" It really kind of freaks me out.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 19, 2007 8:27 pm

yeah she was hot in that episode when she did ddr but a reason why I don't like her is that she talks to much about friendship its getting annoying, I mean at first it was cool but now stressed and she does suck a dueling I think even serenity is better than her

I like Anzu, I don't like how she got treated in the US version though, and I don't like how they striped so much of her personality too.

For example: Anzu 'can' duel she actually could beat Jounouchi at duels until he got taught by Yugi and Gramps which makes her a superior Duelist then dog boy because she didn't have to have people hold her hand at it. They forgot to note this in the Noa arc but if you go back to the first few eps it's there that she's a low level Duelist.

Anzu's a tomboy who looks after Yugi. People often forget that Jounouchi used to bully Yugi and it was Anzu who looked after him. People like to go on and on about the wonderful friendship between Yugi and Jounouchi but they forget it was Anzu who was there from the beginning.

Anzu doesn't do friendship speeches all the time, they're less speeches and more her speaking her mind without the whole spiel.

I don't mind the whole idea that she doesn't duel every chance that arises simply because I like a mix of characters. After all Honda doesn't duel either. In fact I like her stead fast loyalty, Unlike Shinzuka who won't stand up for herself or others without Jounouchi by her side Anzu will actually stand up for herself and others alone.

I hate Tea. Because the fact is that she said the wrong things at the wrong time. I despies her speech and cries alot, but what got me on my kill character list is when in duelist kingdom, After Yugi and Seto's duel. Yugi was crying and Seto just said to perk up and was fighting for his brother, but when that loud mouth Tea spoke up saying that he doesn't care for no one and is selfish, heartless, and cold-hearted person. Then when she realize he was fighting for his brother's soul, she didn't say sorry to him or nothing still say he is cold hearted. That's why I hate Tea.

LOL you hate her because she's not a Kaiba fan! But really, if you don't like her have a reason. Don't just hate her because she isn't Fan number 4654138798 on the Kaiba express. Besides she has more reason back then to hate him.
He stole Blue Eyes from Yugi's gramps, put the man in the hospital by using all three Blue Eyes on an old man. Tore up the card for his own selfish purpose and was willing to leave Yugi's grampa in a coma for the rest of his life. Remember Kaiba only came to save his brother, he never cares about Yugi's own gramps though one can assume he may have thought that winning the game may free both. But he only offers about his own brother, he never mentions Grampa. And if not for Kaiba's own arrogance Yugi would never have been noticed by Pegasus for the Duelist Kingdom.
One might even argue that by 'not' saying he's a nice person or that he's compassionate that Anzu is doing him a favor. You have to remember that Kaiba doesn't just run a gaming corporation, he runs a former Military Manufactoring corporation. Even if you skip the Doom Arc there's no way that being in his position wouldn't come with dangers to himself and Mokuba. If people think he's Mr. Generosity they'll start hitting him up for money or try to take advantage of him or his brother. (Jounouchi is a great example of this. Because once he became friends with Yugi he got a personal trainer on dueling, got to cheat his way into all the major tournments he wants to, got the winning pot of Duelist Kingdom for free... Nooo Jounouchi's shown that friends take advantage of people. After all Kaiba was in the same class as Yugi and Jounouchi so he knows that Jounochi used to bully Yugi.) And he has to safeguard against that, especially if it ends up involving kidnappers, then there's just the tabloids. I mean heck look at the fandom, he argues with Yami and an army of Prideshippers rise up to take arms to prove that he really has sexual relationships with Yami.
Try to figure out why Kaiba would hang out with the group. What would hold him to them. People looking for a quick buck won't care about 'friendship' or common bonds they'll just take what they can get. Kaiba could end up with a headache of tabloids claiming he's gay, or half a million other things. And being only 18 at most and running a company? He's dealing with people who think he's too stupid to be doing this at all and would try to take control of him. Or have you forgotten the Big Five and their attempt to take over Kaiba Corp. They've proven he can't trust the adults of his own company so he can't relax enough to have any friends.
Why would Anzu go about trying to make his life harder by giving anyone anywhere the idea that he has a soft side?
After he agrees to help them off the island (Through Mokuba's coaxing) I think she realized he really 'was' trying to change from the person who put Yugi's grandpa into the hospital. Which is why she is very neutral to his personality and only abrupt when he tries to lone wolf it 'too' much.

I'm not saying that, Here, let give you a little thing to imagine. Imagine that your silbling is capture and all you care about is the safty and well being and will do anything to save them. He put his life in danger just for that reason and Tea just blurts out that he doesn't care for no one but himself. While he is there for his brother. Would you despies someone like that? Someone that says you don't care for anything? I'm not saying she isn't a fan of Kaiba, and I don't care. I've stated my fact. Read more closly next time.

He wants to be there For his little brother and promise him that he'll be there to the end. That's why he wants to win so damn hard.

Running a company is hard and you are right if he starts to lighten up people might take advantage, but then all they do is to take Mokuba and use Seto But he grew not to trust anyone but himself and his brother. But Tea should keep her mouth shut before she speaks out. Then I might like her.

Sure he says he's there for his brother, but this is a guy who let his brother play a near life or death game. Built Death T, stole what didn't belong to him then destroyed it, and put an old man in the hospital. Up until they actually 'saw' Mokuba's card in that duel against Pegasus and Kaiba as far as Anzu's concerned this is just another heartless act from Kaiba. Because what none of them know at the time is that Mokuba is now in the same situation as Gramps.
All Kaiba has to do is get on the phone call the cops and say 'my brother has been kidnapped he's on this island come here' and his problem is resolved. Yugi's grandpa on the other hand is in an actual hospital his soul in a card. Kaiba's Mr. Big Important Company CEO lifeblood of Domino City, if someone gets his brother they're going to go all out to find Mokuba. But who cares about some shop owner? Hell the guy's in acoma in the hospital he's old kid shut up.
Kaiba put himself and his feelings and his family before the life of someone else. He didn't at the time know what happened to Mokuba, but he knew pretty much what happened to Yugi's grandpa. And again he could have opted to let Yugi go first because Kaiba has the power to get his brother back without going through a duel. (Only to later realize he 'needs' to be in a duel but that would involve foresight)

The change though in his character doesn't happen until the Death Duel between Yugi and Jounochi in Battle City. Because that is when he puts the life of someone else above his pride. What the American version doesn't reveal is that Kaiba wanted to save Anzu just because. Before it would have been a matter of owing... You save my brother so I owe you for that. Which is how the US version played it off. In the Japanese version however it's because she's a human life, and he no longer views human life as being that beneath him. If the Kaiba of Duelist Kingdom was at that pier he would have left Anzu. Saving Mokuba wouldn't have mattered, he would leave and not care if Anzu died.
The click of change between Yugi and Kaiba is that they have to duel. It's like a very drawn out fate, but I understand Kaiba's obsession with dueling Yugi.
The click of change between Anzu and Kaiba is that Anzu is no Yes woman. Kaiba can spend months in that office being told yes to everything. His choice in clothes, business decisions everything just yes, yes, yes and yes.

Kaiba was raised by Gozoboro to see the world only one way, he gave up a great deal of choice in submitting to Gozoboro. He gave up on the idea of friendship, of trust, of honesty. He gave all these up because he had become convinced there was no other way. And when you work in a place where everyone agrees with you?

She knows he's changed, but the insults after Duelist Kingdom give him an out. If he chooses to get involved in any of Yugi's little plans he can always write it off as doing it to shut Anzu up. It gives him the ability to do things he technically can't do because of his position while saving face.

(This is something else but something I always noted. People who don't like Anzu with Yugi often refer to the manga issue when she takes Yugi to the waterpark with plans to bring out Yami, because she wants to hang out with him. But there was two major factors people forgot to note. When that manga had come out the plan was that Yugi and Yami were the same person that Yami was an alternate personality in the same way that Malik was with his other personality. Young girls around Anzu's age still have a romantic streak in them. And one of the things I don't think people realize is that for a girl it's more exciting, a guy is more desirable if when she's in danger he handles the threat without a problem. Because Yugi was such a victim of others whenever he would try she had to worry if he would get hurt. That dampens things because it stirs a type of old sister little brother sensation. Not something you want when you want to be in a relationship with someone. However her idolized version of Yugi was someone she wanted but as Yugi had been didn't seem possible to happen.
When Anzu has that talk with Yugi she states she likes 'him' more then Yami. What I think people don't realize is that part of the reason it would be so fluster/desirable to hang out with Yami is... Well Yami is Yami. He has no past and he relies on Yugi for everything. From clothes to manners, so thinking on it. The idea that this sweet little boy is sticking 'his' body in tight form fitting leather is rather something. What he may not realize is that he's showing his body off as he would look if he had more self confidence and such, which is something he develops through out the series. Basically turning himself into the Good Boy with the bad boy image. In fact one of the biggest amusing things about this pairing is that most girls who don't like Anzu. 'But' want Yugi paired up with an OC create a carbon copy of Anzu with little to no difference.)

I like Anzu better then Tea. Tea is all 'Friendship this, Friendship that'...all her speches were driving me nuts, though I didn't mind the fact she always got mad when Vivien and Rebeca keep on hitting on Yugi.

Now Anzu, I like her. Her personaitly is way different then friendship loving Tea. And she can kick a** when she need to be.

I don't like her. Reasons? She's a whimp, she can't duel, she's a damsel in distress, way to friendly, and interferes with my favorite couple >.< Yami x Yugi (even though the series said nothing about it, but a fangirl can dream). Why do you think I joined that guild? (points siggy).

I would comment on most of that but I's too Lazy sweatdrop but I would like to say that i dont think I hate Tea because of Yami. I am a huge Yami fan but I never thougth I hated her because of that until recently. I was reading the past mangas and I just felt jealousy, stupid I know, but i did so I guess that feeds my hatred to her but I just think they should have made her less of a whimp. And I dont think she is a tomboy, she's always wearing skirts and boots and all that stuff.

Anyone know if Tea is Yugi's childhood friend? Thats what I heard but in the show she had a flashback and said. 'I hardly knew yugi back then' and he wasnt any younger. But that was in the 4kids version so I dont know.

Eh? The girl bugs the hell out of me what with all her ramblings on the topic of friendship and being there for others, but that honestly doesn't make me hate her as a person. Her ideals are admirable, though the way 4kids dubbing wrote it, has a downright annoying way of expressing it.

Tea has little to no true character development, remaining the same little cheerleader throughout every episode, so that makes her drop in my opinion vastly. Kaiba makes some reform though he is still a conscientious snob. All of the characters of the English dub have character traits that I find to be repititive mindless and downright degrading, but that's 4kids for you. Watering down anime for the crappy TV of tomorrow.

The japanese anime has a much greater hold on these characters so I do believe it's unfair to base one's solid judgement on the English reenactment.
