The girl had turned quickly to look at Roka, with a sort of tilt of her head as he had spoken. "Eh? But she- " She cut herself off quickly, to realize that Roka was walking along one side of her, but she was supporting Minori on the other side. A small frown tugged at her lips, but she looked up at Roka with a, 'I'll speak to you in class about this?' look, and one of her small smiles.

Hhm, but still, whatever would make Roka think Minori was lying? When people claim to have a headache, most doctors can't tell what's wrong without asking a series of questions as to what may have affected it. Minori's answer seemed valid enough to her, and if it wasn't there must have been a reason as to why she lied. It probably wasn't her business though, right? If Minori didn't want to talk about it to her, she wouldn't prod.

As they started towards the class, the girl winced a few times at Roka's sneezing, continuiously repeating 'bless you's. She felt the frown deepen, and shook her head. "Poor Roka-kun. We really DO have to find who has that kitten soon...then we can just get someone to pick it up and bring it back to it's home." She looked concerned at the idea of a kitten wandering around Ouran alone, and Roka's allergies possibly getting worse.

As they arrived into the class, Mitsuko's eyes lit up a bit as she glanced at the many desks, standing there with Mitsuko while classmates filed by. "Where do you guys want to sit?" She chirped, hoping that they'd sit near each other. Then, tilting her head a bit so she could look at Minori, she blinked. "Are you better now? Want me to help you to a seat?" She offered, grinning at the other girl. She still didn't really know why Roka thought the other girl was lying, but she was willing to hear him out. It would be rude of her to brush him off and besides, even though she figured it wasn't in the best intention of many of the students of Ouran, she DID want to befirned others. Not for puposes of company allies or anything - just friends. That's all she really wanted.

That, and she had promised her grandmother that she would make a lot of new friends, the day before she died. How long had it been? 4 days? It was so recent, the girl was surprised that she wasn't crying every moment she had. Then again, she didn't want anyone around her to worry or anything.

Watching Mitsuko's reaction out of the corner of his eye, Roka gave a very slight nod in response to her meaningful look and small smile. He found it rather difficult to believe she could ever be this serious about anything, but she was probably one of those students who were much more than they seemed. Someone else he had under-estimated.

With each 'bless you' Mitsuko spoke, Roka found himself absently murmuring 'thank you's in reply. When she expressed her sympathy for him and her plan to cure his allergy, he simply looked at her, finding it very hard to conceal a small smile of his own.

"Miss Mitsuko, I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but it really is no concern of yours if you don't know who own's the kittten. Please, don't trouble yourself. I'm sure you have enough to worry about with Miss Minori's condition, not to mention your own." Turning away, he hesitated, and then sneezed again. "I already owe you a - ahCHOO! A favor for this very helpful hankercheif. I'll be sure to get you a new one as soon as possible. My sisters own a good many."

He didn't mean to dismiss her pity in such a heartless way. In fact, he really was touched someone could care or at least seem to care for someone they had just recently met. Having transferred to Ouran from a school quite distant, he wasn't as familiar with all of the classmates as most of them were with each other.

Mitsuko already seemed to consider him her friend the moment they had introduced themselves, and he had found that both a plesant and rather foolish philosophy. How did she know he wasn't looking to get something out of their friendship, as his parents had encouraged? To her, business didn't seem to matter, only the well-being of others. If he was one of those students who only made friends to gain power and connections, would she ever be able to tell?

Luckily for her, Roka definately wasn't one, but he didn't know whether she'd be able to tell between honest people and those with alterior motives. If she wasn't careful, she could end up hurt like Miho. He would have to keep an eye on her - perhaps protect her, since she seemed so ignorant of those who sought personal gain. Only problem was, Roka couldn't afford to seem friendly. He'd have to do as he always did - act as if he didn't care.

Finally, they reached the classroom. Roka stood patiently next to Minori and Mitsuko, observing the many rows of desks with hardly a fourth of the enthusiasm Mitsuko displayed. "I don't mind," he answered her politely, taking out his video ipod to switch to a different song, pausing to sneeze once again. "Though the desks by the window might do everyone some good." He turned his head to see Mitsuko offering to help Minori, but said nothing more.

Making his way over to the far wall of the room where sunlight drifted in through large windows, he seated himself casually in the closest chair as he stared at his ipod, thumbing through song titles.

Minori knew it was rather rude to yank free of Mitsuko, plus the only reason she wanted to do that was to get away from Roka, to possibly make his allergies better. Still, she didn't.

Entering the classroom, Minori blinked rather awkwardly at the cleaniness of it all and gave an inward sigh. 'I wish Sam could see this.' She thought rather gloomily, thinking of her rather crazy friend, which somehow reminded her of Mitsuko as well. "I'm fine." She gave a cheerful smile to Mitsuko.

She felt immensly guilty of making Roka sneeze so badly, and sighed, listing down her options in her head. The best one so far was to tell Miss Ayame about this, she hoped the teacher would understand; she did seem rather nice after all.

Nodding her head slightly at that, she slowly removed herself from Mistuko's grasp, giving her a 'I'll be okay' glance before going up to the teacher. 'I hope all goes well...'

Mitsuko blinked as Minori moved from her grasp, and opened her mouth to ask if she was really alright, eyebrows knitting together in concern, before she shut her mouth, and instead offered the other girl a smile, and nod of her head.

Then, walking - or more like prancing - towards Roka, she slipped into the seat in front of him, before turning around and sitting on the seat backwards. "Don't worry about getting me a new hankerchief." Was the first thing she said, grinning. "I usually ask the maids at home to teach me to make my own, and stuff. It's fun, learning about stuff like that. My parents think it's a very 'commoner' thing to do, but I don't have anything against commoners so..." She trailed off, realizing she was speaking too much. "...Sorry."

"So, we were gonna speak about some-" The smile on her face turned into a thoughtful frown. "What were we going to talk about, again?" She placed a finger to her lip, tilting her head and looking troubled, before it finally clicked.

"Oh yeah!" She nodded her head, seeming proud that she had remembered. Then, head still tilted, her expression turned a little more serious. "What makes you think she," She glanced at Minori for a moment, feeling guilty to be speaking about the other girl behind her back, "Was lying, Roka-kun? It is possible to get dizzy due to lack of sleep, and Minori-chan certainly seems like a nice, honest person..."

Hardly aware of Minori's actions, Roka closed his eyes and put his head down on the desk. It was warm from the rays of the sun, but cool enough to be soothing. He let his arms dangle loosely down toward the ground, making him appear as well as feel quite lethargic.

Even without opening his eyes, he could hear Mitsuko occupy the seat just before his own. By the sound of her voice, she was facing him. And then she began to speak without waiting for Roka to sit up and face her. He was glad. He didn't feel like moving just then.

"Are you sure?" he mumbled, sniffing. "...well...then, that's good...ahchoo!" With his head on the desk, his sneezed was muffled as he used the hankercheif to sneeze into the crook of his arm as he had beem taught was good manners. It also helped to draw less attention to himself with less noise.

"Commoner things...commoners...are fun...ahchoo! Don't be sorry." Roka smiled against his sleeve. If he had been in better spirits he might have enjoyed discussing the topic of commoners with someone who realized they weren't completely inferior. But at the moment, he wasn't feeling too much like talking about anything.

Still, he had agreed to dicuss the matter of Minori's supposed lie. He waited for a time while Mitsuko recalled what it was they were going to discuss. When she remembered and inquired on the subject, he lifted his head so that his chin rested on the desk insted of his forehead and he could peer at her with his emerald eyes over his arm. Her eyes were green as well, but a much brighter, shining green than his own. Their color reminded him of the fresh, grass blades of spring.

He hid another smile behind that sleeve at the pride in her voice as she remembered the topic. His silvery bangs caught the sunlight and concealed the glint of amusement in his gaze. However, his tone of voice was as serious as hers, and as casual as ever. "It's just a guess, really..." he told her, noting her anxious glance back at Minori. "But she just didn't look right. She didn't seem to be reacting to nuasia of any sort. I wasn't sure, but I looked at her eyes and saw fear there."

His own eyes looked away, out the window and into the courtyard, where they had just been a little while ago. "It may sound stupid. Perhaps I was wrong, but I'm pretty sure with two younger sisters and one older one, I can tell the difference between fear and dizziness."

He sneezed again, ducking his head back down under his arms on the desk in order to surpress it. "Of course dizziness is possible due to sleep. I wouldn't argue with you there, Miss Mitsuko, seeing as you're far more experienced in those matters. However..." Roka's gaze wandered back to meet Mitsuko's once more.

"Even the most honest people may lie to save another person the trouble of worrying. Or sometimes they may lie in order to conceal something troubling them. Particularly when it comes to fears. No one likes to bring up the subject of their own fears." His eyes flickered toward Minori meaningfully. "Not that I would have the slightest inkling what fear Miss Minori might wish to hide."

Kiyoshi made his way into the classroom, considering taking one of the window seats. Number one, it was good for daydreaming. Number two, he didn't like the idea of being surrounded by others on all four sides. Number three, as much as he hated to admit the fact of being rather 'concerned about his appearance', the window does make for a good mirror.

Walking to the seat in front of Roka, he sat down and took out his own music player. A black-cased iPod with blue flames, to be exact. It even came with his own name, engraved at the bottom of it. Without a word, he put on the black in-ear headphones, and looked out the window. He knew that whatever the two behind him were chatting about, was probably none of his business. Besides, since Mitsuko was actually not on hyper mode, he had a feeling that it would be useless to join the conversation, or hear any of it.

Thus, the male started to go into day-dreaming mode. He wondered, with his hair color, hair length and perhaps even unusual quirks, how many would actually think that he's from class 1A? He smiled slightly, tapping a finger on the table top gently to the rhythm of the song.

{Teacher's post!}

Ayame looked up from the teacher's table as she waited for the class to find a seat and settle down, and saw one of the students coming over. Smiling, she stood up and walked over. Somehow, her teacher's instincts that this lovely individual needed help.

"Hello," She greeted, leaning on the front of the table. "May I help you?"

Mitsuko finally slipped the bag she carried off her shoulders, and dropped it to the floor beside her desk. Then, blinking, she murmured another automatic 'bless you', before her eyes lit up at his comment. He agreed that commoner things were fun? He was probably the first one she met whose admitted that - most of the others she had spoken to in junior high though commoners stuff was a waste of time. Really though, how could they determine that, if they hadn't tried for themselves?

Resting her arms on the edge of Roka's desk, the girl seemed a tad tense as he spoke, nodding every so often. For a moment, when Kiyoshi sat down, she offered him a cheery smile, and wave, before turning back to Roka.

"Fear...well, fear is a possibility. Depending on what she's scared of, however, there are different things she can feel. For example, Agoraphobics, those who fear difficult or embarassing situation that they can't escape from, often gives the said person panic attacks, and higher heart rates. Things like this can also lead to dizziness." She frowned. "This being said, there's a huge list of phobias, even including things like technology, balloon, and things most people would find completely harmless." Bending over to her bag, she tugged out her black book in which she kept notes in, and flipping it open. "Another example is Coulrophobia - fear of clowns. Symptoms include breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack." Mitsuko snapped the book shut, shaking her head a bit. "This is more of a psycological thing, but I keep notes of things like this anyways, just in case."

She then stuck out her tougue. "And don't be silly, Roka-kun! Your theory about Minori-chan's dizziness being caused by fear is a very good possibility. It doesn't sound stupid at all, silly." Grinning, the girl bent forward to pat Roka on the head, before her eyes lit up a bit. "You have three sisters? Wher - Waitwait, getting off track." Again with the sheepish smile, she tried to shove her normal, hyper side away (Though it really seemed itching to leak out), and pull her serious doctor side back out.

Clearing her throat, she continued. "There are two possible reasons then, about why Minori-chan suddenly seemed so dizzy. Both what you said, and what Minori-chan said are possible, and since you have 3 sisters, and seem used to this, I believe your word on this." Mitsuko grinned again, before her own gaze flickered to Minori. "I hope that, if it is fear that's causing this, that it's not too serious. There's only so much panic one can sustain before - " She cut herself off, shaking her head. "But I'm sure that won't happen. It's rarely the case that the panic lasts for long. I hope that someday, she might tell us though, so we could help her avoid whatever it is." Oh, how hard that would be. At the moment, they certainly didn't know what Minori feared, but considering Mitsuko was a klutz, and hurt her herself often...well...

"That's..." She hesitated, "True. I can't say that I've never done something like that, or...that I'm not doing it right now." She frowned for a moment, a image of her grandmother flashing through her head, before perking up a bit again, and kind of giving a small, quiet laugh. "But anyways...Nor would I have any idea what her fear may be. I could figure it out, if given some time to retrace when it happened, and what had happened around that time, But...I'm not really sure if I should try, since it is part of Minori-chan's life. I'm sure if she ever feels like telling us, she will..." She girl glanced at Minori again, resting her chin the palm of her head, and looking a bit miserable. "Just wish I could help somehow, y'know?"

PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 12:26 am

Minori squirmed, both hands clutching the strap of her sling bag, which hung on only one shoulder. Even if Miss Ayame seemed nice, she really didn't know what to say. Why did she think that it would be easy anyway? Still, she could still hear Roka sneezing with almost every word he said and her guilt deepened.

Sucking in a breath, she finally urged herself to look up at and into her teacher's eyes, giving a rather awkward smile. "Uh...umm...Roka-san's allergic, I...it's not my fault...but..." Oh dear, she was starting to blab again. She kept the mention of Roka's name down to a whisper, perhaps the teacher wouldn't even hear it, but Minori wouldn't have noticed, because she was at a loss once again.

"Can we talk outside, Miss Ayame?" She finally asked without stuttering, giving her a rather desperate look. "Please?" She chanced a glance behind at the rest of the class; Mitsuko and Roka seemed to be rather deep into their conversation and Kiyoshi was engrossed in his music.

The girl was still suffering a little from her little bout of fear that hit her, for some reason, it started to haunt her again. A face framed by blond hair swam into her view and so did the memories. Which weren't pleasant at all.

Ayame smiled, walking towards the girl and placing a comforting arm around her shoulders before gently pushing her out the classroom. All she heard was something along the lines of 'Roka-san', and also something that sounded like allergic...

"Come on then," She answered, leading her to the corridor. Everyone was already in their respective classes, so it was relatively quiet, and nobody walked past the two. "Feel free to speak your mind here."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 5:06 pm

((Pardon me if I happened to miss something, but did Mitsuko and Kiyoshi just happen to take the same seat? ie. the one in front of mine? XD

Not that it really matters, but I just wondered...))

"Achoo! Thank you," Roka mumbled. He hardly noticed what would have otherwise been so conspicuous to him - the way Mitsuko's eyes lit up as he mentioned commoners. Perhaps she shared an interest of them as well as their hobbies. However, he didn't feel like dwelling on the subject just then.

"Mmm...so you do know phobias then. Well, as I said before, I have little knowledge in that field, so I'll leave that up to you, but her actions spoke nothing of dizziness to me; fearful or otherwise." He shrugged. "Then there's the feeling that she's not being truthful. I wouldn't have the slightest idea what lie she might have told - it could have been something as simple as saying she was fine. But I'm certain she said something false."

Toshiro chose not to acknowledge his high regard for a girl who appeared so ditzy and empty-headed and yet know so much. He was impressed that she even seemed to have a facination in such topics. Unfortunately, he couldn't say he did. Music sparked his interest much more dramatically than medical terms and afflictions. "That's very handy," he added as she closed her book. "Good thinking."

And then she stuck her tounge at him, reverting back to her childish nature. His eyes widened in surprise and he appeared uncharacteristicaly startled for a moment. Then he sneezed, looking away, but smiling as he did so. "So I'm not stupid, just silly?" he inquired brightly, his eyes laughing as he sniffed, noting that Mitsuko had referred to him as silly not once, but twice. And on top of that she patted him on the head. It was pretty amazing how casual people were around here - not that Roka had any objection.

First of all, in his other school, no one had ever dared call one another 'silly'. Second, they never called one another by their first names; Roka had always been known as 'Toshiro-kun'. But it didn't matter. Not really. Roka began to wonder about his feelings on the whole subject. It seemed to him he was rather enjoying it - pretending he was friends with someone he had just met. Formalities made a big difference in conversations, he realized. Not only was it respectful, it was colder too. Of course commoners never had to worry about this. They all seemed to be on friendly terms with each other. And that's the way it should be, he thought. If only it could be...but not here. Not amoung our society.

His expression suddenly became grim as he grew lost in his thoughts, a lot dwelling on what Miho had said. Presently, Mitsuko snapped him out of it with the mention of his sisters. That always got his attention. "Yes, three sisters. You're right, of course...off topic," he agreed, hoping to avoid talk of his troublesome siblings, who were rpobably at home right now, in his room, doing who knew what... Quit worrying! he scolded himself. They'll be fine. You can deal with their doings later. It's not as if you can do anything to check on them now.

He found it intriging that Mitsuko stated she believed him due to his experience with his sisters, and soon began to wonder if she had any of her own. Now was not the time to ask, though. He could tell it was hard enough for her to keep on track, without him asking her irrelevent questions. Besides, he didn't want to seem as if he was prying.

"I hope so too. There was a girl I met earlier in Class 1B who helped me just this morning. I think she had a fear of people or crowds or something, because she seemed a little too eager to escape the building - even more so than myself." He lay his head down on the desk again, blowing his nose. "I didn't press the matter, but I don't know for sure. We'll just have to leave her and Miss Minori alone for a while, I suppose...maybe I was the one who frightened her?"

Roka fiddled with his ipod cord. "After all, she seemed to get dizzy only after I had arrived." Another solomn grin seemed to threaten his mouth. "Perhaps it's me she should avoid - achoo!" His attention focused on Mitsuko as she continued to speak almost hesitantly. How unlike her, he thought, watching, before realizing he really didn't know her that well.

He supposed all her informalities had given him that false sense that he did. Suddenly he began to wish she would stop doing it, much as he secretly felt more comfortable because of it. He had grown up in a formal society, and he knew his future was doomed to revolve around it. It certainly wouldn't do if he began to be informal just now, just because of a beginning of a friendship that might not even be real. Perhaps he was just fooling himself. Roka could never live as casually as a commoner, no matter how much he pretended.

"You care too much about others, Miss Mitsuko," he stated bluntly. "And it's a rather harsh fact that very few of them will care about you as much in return. I know you want to be a doctor, but why don't you save your kindess for people who you can trust? If not," Roka paused, his tone cold and serious as it had been previously, "then someone will take advantage of you and you will inevitably end up getting hurt in the end. It won't be the kind of hurt you can fix with a bandage or prescribed medicine either."

He looked deeply into her eyes, leaning close. Being so direct to her seemed cruel, but he felt it was the only way he could get through to her. He didn't want her to end up so mistrustful and upset like Miho. "That injury will scar you for life, Miss Mitsuko. Mentally and emotionally. It's not safe to go around being as carefree and friendly as a commoner. Not in this school, or people may suspect you of something. It's always been like that in this community of ours." Roka turned to gaze distantly out the window once again. "Just a warning..."

((Sorry for the hold up, everyone. Sounds good, Dra!))

Bashful Friend

Hamada Kohaku

PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 7:40 pm

As the students entered the class room, Kohaku followed close behind, his steps rather slow and drawn out. His head was tilted downwards, as he simply watched the floor and his steps, something his parents would certainly not have approved of. One should never look down like that, it was not proper and showed much lack of self-confidence. No matter, they were here, and he was.

The boy had been rather dazed, since he had found his place in line. Though really he had been rather dazed since he had reached Ouran. High School was just another chapter in life, where he'd misunderstood as always. Though he had made a friend, which was more then he had expected. Perhaps it would be better here then how it was at his previous school.

Just as long as no one found out.

Blue eyes glanced up as he looked around the room. It was...Big. However most of the rooms in the school were big, so really there was nothing unusual about it. Bright blue eyes shifted about as the long haired boy looked for a place to sit.

He knew no one in his class, and he had been completly oblivious to what had gone on in the line prior to entering the class room. His mind had clearly been some where else, though it seemed his mind wasn't quite here either. Taking an empty seat in the near the center front of the class, he let out a sigh, loosing the grip upon his pastel purple messenger bag, and dropping it over the back of his chair so that it would stay off the ground and yet he wouldn't have to hold it.

Resting his elbows upon the edge of his desk he placed his chin on the top of his hands, soon blowing up at his hair that had floped down into his face. A blink soon followed as he watched someone go out in the corridor to speak with the teacher. What was going on? Not that it was important.

His mind soon drifted once more. "
Jiro ... jiro ..." he mumbled almost silently, as he looked at the chalkboard. Other then sitting and waiting there wasn't much else to do.

Wait.

Later that day there was suposed to be some designs coming in to his father's magazine company, for one of their big fashion magazines. Perhaps if he got there in time he'd be able to go and see them. If he was lucky of course. He was pretty sure that one of his sisters would be able to get him in to watch though. They normally did. Of course, it was probably them to blame for his love of...

The boy quickly sat up. Even though class had not really started yet, he couldn't let himself become so dazed over a certain subject. If he started thinking about that stuff, he'd miss just about everything, and then what would he do? He just had to stay focused. He just had to keep his mind focused on school.

The girl took a few gulps of cold air in to calm herself down as the teacher walked her outside. Chancing a few glances around their surroundings, she finally decided that it was safe.

"Roka-san's...sneezing..." Minori winced immediately after she had said it. Well, wasn't THAT obvious? "And um..." Placing a finger on her lips to signal the teacher to keep down her response, whatever it was, she carefully opened the flap of her bag. Peeking inside, she then lifted up the "intruder". "Because of her." She finished her sentence rather lamely, squirming in her position.

The kitten, however was delighted to be out and inspected the new face with her big blue eyes. Tilting her head, she gave a soft little purr.
