hey everyone! I just found out the coolest thing about a week ago! i thought it was pretty cool i'm geekin out about it! xd so here's the story: my bro has his own place and we both got a wii after spending 17 hours in front f best buy (awesome experience) anyway he has two cats and one day he found the little b*****ds had chewed up the cord to his sensor bar scream . he was ticked and order another for $10 from Nintendo. (not bad) so later he called me and told me that he had read online that if u don't have a sensor bar u could place two lit candles at the ends of the top of ur tv and it'll act like a sensor bar. I was like WHAT??!!! so i tried it and it f-ing works! try it out for urself. IT'S AMAZING!!! blaugh heart xp

In theory that would work, but does it actually? I mean, the sensor bar works by giving out some sort of light (Infrared is most likely) from two sets of IR-Emitters, one at each end (under the black bits). As a candle gives out some IR, that may well work...
Seriously though? eek

My christmas tree had to be turned off when I'd play it, it'd screw with the wiimote too much. XP

Thats why its 40 bucks.

No, its IR. Use a camera or any video recorder and look at the sensor bar when its on.
The video screen should show it glowing a lovely purple, something that can't be seen normally.
Besides, I KNOW its IR...I went and took apart my sensor bar xd Put it back together again, but still, it was fun. It doesn't send out white light, as that wouldn't work very well...the TV picture would interfere, let alone all the ambient light around!
And we know its the Wii-mote that registers it. We've known that for ages, ever since the first person to look at a sensor bar plug noticed it was incapable of sending data (its just a power socket)

IR is a higher part of the light spectrum that we can't see without technological aides.

There's a YouTube video of two guys playing WiiSports like this.
I haven't tried it myself, but I'm at home and sick today so I might just do this.
