So, it was raining, hrrm?

Whatever.

Uovu didn't really mind getting wet. Although he was fussy about his coat getting dirty, he wasn't afraid of a nice wash every now and then. It was a good time for a bath, and the heavens were sending down bucketloads upon him.

His soaked mane was flattened against his neck, and Uovu looked even more scrawny than usual. Ah, well. If he came across a she-male looking like this, he wouldn't have to look his best to attempt to charm her. He was naturally charming... that's what he thought, anyway. But then, he did look a sad sight. The rain made him look like a wet rat, through and through.

Right now, he was walking aimlessly, thinking about nothing much in particular. Meditating, in a strange kind of way. Every time he tried to think about something, memories of the two lionesses he had met beforehand came flashing into his mind. They had hit him. He had fought back. Then, in a strange unfolding of events, he had sworn loyalty to one of them.
His wounded, slashed cheek aching, Uovu tried to shake the pain from his mind.

That's right. He belonged to Roho now.

Raining...

Rain was fun, or so the little chocolate-eyed lion cub. His fur stuck to his body, and he looked very sleek and cute when he was wet.

Boredly, he slashed in forming puddles to entertain himself. puddles were fun, but he wish he had someone to play with. That would be a lot funner.

Hah! Funner isn't a word! But little 'Fasa didn't care.

He splashed into another puddle and looked up. He spotted an oddly colored brownish male.

But what could he say, he was oddly colored as well. 'Fasa, being the curious cub he was, made his way toward the lion.

This would be interesting...

Uovu turned, as he heard the splish splosh of pawsteps running through the rain. At once, his eyes rested on a handsome cub... not too bad looking really. He could be quite the stunning man, if he grew a mane.

'Hmmm...' the young adult male thought to himself, 'This cub could prove a nice distractions from my troubles. He looks... uhhh... nice, I suppose.'

He gave the stranger a small, weak smile.

"Yo there, little one. Looks like someone's having fun in the rain."

"The rain's fun," Mufasa said, using on of his front paws to splash up some of the water from the rain.

He blinked in surprise as the water he splashed up hit him in the face.

"It looked like you're not having fun in the rain," Mufasa said stating the obvious. "Why's that?"

Mufasa pounced a rain drop that just fell into a larger puddle. The water splashed up, making him much more wet than he actually was.

The brown and white cub looked back at the male. "You have a cut on yor face," He said, once again stating the obvious.

"Haha, perceptive young lad you are," Uovu chuckled, nodding his head. The young lion there sure had lightened his mood a little. Maybe he should feel grateful. He guessed it would do him good if he stayed to talk to this youngster.

"This cut, huh?" Uovu lifted a forepaw to his face, stroking his cheek tenderly, "Yeah, I do have a cut there. Must've got that just... you know, while I was playing around. Got kicked in the face by a wilderbeast, actually. Not nice."

He hoped it wasn't too obvious that he was lying. He was normally a born actor, and so good that generally only seers could see him through. Today he wasn't feeling up to the act, though. He hoped the cub wouldn't press him about his wounds anymore... he did look a sight to behold, with slashes all down his flank and face, but he really didn't want to talk about it as much. Although it was obvious that, to have inflicted that many wounds, the wilderbeast must have needed to have claws the size of razors (which most normal wilderbeasts didn't have). Ah, well. This cub was a kid. He might not pick that up.

"Hey, it's nothing to be worried about, kid," he said, and attempted to change the subject with that, "What's ya' name, then? You alone? You look a long way off from your parents. I can't smell any other lions around for miles."

He wrinkled his nose. He really couldn't. Maybe this cub was doing the old 'sneak away from the elders' thing. He'd done that as a cub, too, when he was young.

"A wilderbeast? That must've hurt," Mufasa said naively.

He paused for a second. "Why do all adult lions think that hunting is fun?" He asked curiously.

Mufasa was too naive to pick up that he was doing a very bad lie. He neer hunted of has been up close to a wilderbeast, so he wouldn't know.

"My name is Mufasa," He said. "And I'm alone. We'll before you came, I was alone!"

"And I don't have parents. The bunch I live with don't care if I leave or not, so I did!" He said.

"Now, what's your name?" Mufasa tilted his head to the side, curious for this stranger's name.

"Hmmm, Mufasa, eh?" Uovu tilted his head, thinking back. He was sure he'd heard the name somewhere... probably around the borders of the Pridelands, or something.

Mufasa, Mufasa... King Mufasa? Ah, that's right. He was a different guy to this kid.
Ah, well. This kid sure shared a name with a famous dead bloke, didn't he?

"Nice name you got there," he said, "Mine's not as fancy, but it's good enough for me. The name's Uovu."

He didn't bother mentioning that he was a rogue. He used to be, at least until yesterday, when he'd been attacked... and taken in. He shook the thought from his head, and looked back at the ever-energetic Mufasa.

"Hunting's fun?" Uovu repeated, rolling back his eyes to think about it for a moment, "Hmmm... I suppose it is, in a way, when you get the hang of it. You haven't experienced the lust yet, have you, boy?" he paused, "It's more about survival and filling your belly than spilling blood. I guess it feels great ripping and shredding, though."

He grinned.

"You sure ask deep questions, don't you, 'Fasa?'. No parents, eh? You left them, huh? Hrmmm... I suppose you would. I really did the same, at your age, though I was a little older when I left my parents."

He kind of liked this kid. Made him feel nicer, less cold, for a change.
He could take his mind off his true self... the nasty, selfish creature he really was.

Cubs sure worked magic to warm cold hearts these days.

The cub nodded. "Well, It's nice to meet you, Mister Uovu," Mufasa said politly as he could. He was a very polite cub after all. Even though, so far, he has lived a life without rules or bounds.

"Lust? I don't think so," he said putting a soft white paw to his chin. "No, I don't think I have..."

"Deep questions? I don't think they were..." He said.

"Actually, I could leave them. I think one of the lionesses that hangs around the 'area' said they were killed when I was younger," Mufasa said. He didn't mind. He didn't remember his parents.

"Nice to meet me? Yeah, a lot of people say that," he joked, "Hrrmm, it's been okay meeting you, too, little Mufasa. Though I would've preffered a woman... but hey, things can't always go that way, can it? Anyway, for a man, you're pretty strong looking. I'd say you'll grow up to be quite formidable in a few years time, cub."

He almost laughed as he was adressed as a 'Mister'. Gosh, it made him sound so old. He didn't really mind it, in a way... he felt it sounded like he had at least a bit of authority, like the kid respected him. Mufasa was such a polite one... Uovu felt a pang of jealousy. How he wished he held the same good nature. As a cub, Uovu had been quite the opposite.

"Killed, you say?" his voice went softer, "Africa's a rough place to be, isn't it? Common story. I know someone like that, too. You seem okay about the whole thing, though. Were they horrible, or something?"

Or maybe the cub was just strong. Uovu didn't know. He had no idea that Mufasa hadn't known his parents anyway.

(( Sorry for not replying suddenly in that AIM convo! D= My mother kinda' dragged me away for the computer to explain packing-stuff to me, and if I went back to the computer she'd be like "D=<". xD;; When I came back, you'd gone already. Dx Gah, sorry about that! ))

The smaller lion avoided the first part of what the older lion said. He didn't want to answer. In fact, he didn't know how to answer it.

"I don't know if they were horrible or not," Mufasa answered truthfully. "I don't remember them."

"But!" He started. "Talking about this stuffs depressing." He said.

He paused for a light second before looking up at Uovu and smiled. "It's kinda boring, too. What d'you do for fun?" Mufasa wanted to know. He hadn't had a good game to play since his encounter with Limbua.

"Heh, you're right," Uovu nodded. The last thing he needed was to talk about more depressing nonsense. He'd might as well join in on the childish tatters of fun and games, the thing he'd long lost in his adulthood.

"For fun..." he began, chewing his lip, "I meet girls. You'll get that when you're a little older, I think. Hmmm... well, I do like acting. That's mainly my thing. Chasing seers is another, because they can see when I'm acting and when I'm not acting, which is a bother. So... really, I do a lot of those things for fun."

He paused, and tried to think of something else.

"When I was your age," he began, "I also used to enjoy playing 'tag'..."

He blushed a little. That sounded so... childish.

"Uh, what about you, Mufasa? Seems like you like jumping through the rain, so I know at least one thing about you."

Uovu himself playfully put down his paw hard into a puddle, and sent a sprinkle of water flying towards Mufasa.

"Acting?" Mufasa questioned lightly. "Acting seems fun."

Naive.

"Ohhh," He said sort of exitedly. "Tag is fun!"

Mufasa blinked in surprise as the water from the puddle hit him. He recovered quickly though. He used a paw to splash water at Uovu.

Mufasa grinned and stuck his tounge out at the older lion. This would be so fun!

"It is," Uovu smiled, his frost-bitten heart beginning to thaw into warmth, "Acting is really great."

What was it about the boy that made Uovu feel at ease? Feel like... he hadn't any worries anymore. An escape from the corruption and rough politics of his own life.

"I myself," Uovu started, his eyes lighting up, "Love tag! Hey, maybe I could get back into it!"

He pounced, but reeled back as Mufasa sent a splash of water hit his face.
Stunned, he blinked for a second, and then grinned.

"Hey, that was tricky!"

Laughing, he pounced at the spot near Mufasa.

What was this feeling? This was good.

This was warm.

Mufasa giggled for a second before being splashed again. "Hey!" He laughed.

The cub shook the water from his fur at Uovu a grinned at him.

"You're awesome for an adult you know. Most adult's are boring," He said to the older male.

Uovu shrugged.

"Hmmm... well, thanks, I suppose, Mufasa. That's about the most praise I've ever gotten from someone, really. I'm not all fun and games, though. Wish I could be..."

He paused. He did like this kid. He liked him, because there was an escape there. An alternative life. Something different, something warmer.

Polite. Happy. Playful.

All the things Uovu wished he, himself, had been as a cub.

"Hey," he breathed, slowly, "If you're ever in trouble... or, say, need someone to talk to, man on man..."

He stopped, leaving the sound of crickets chirping in the background.
Then, he spoke, his usual rough words more gentle than usual.

"Hey, I don't mind. I'm here."
