The family was safe now. The cool winds blew the smells of the swamplands past their nostrils. Here, the damp dirt and cool grass was not of the marsh lands... but more dry. Umo found that his paws enjoyed being dry for a bit. He was still a bit startled and his fur was a bit bristled since they left... but he suspected it was just nervousness. He did not know... all he knew was that his faimly was here and that was that. So he blinked his Crimson eyes around at his family. He lay next too his mate, Kika. The four cubs they brought, each with their own personalitys and traits were growing steadily day by day... strong and wise with their childish ways. Umo loved them all, since they shared parts of him and Kikawaida.

Ripuka had gone out to scope out the area... to make sure it was safe... He sure was his fathers son.

He stretched, since the sun rose only a few hours ago and they would soon need a nap, hopefully. He admired Kika's magical ways of keeping calm around them. She was always calmer than he.

Only, now he was more restless than usual. What were they going to do.

Tope stalked silently, slowly as he sighted the dark figure moving not far from him. His tail wagged slightly as he neared his prey... Ready to gnaw the life from its hideous form, his tiny milk teeth bared as he growled quietly. His pink orbs blinked slowly, narrowing at the figures form. His front foot quivered, he was ready to kill-kill-KILL. Suddenly he launched off from his back feet, his front paws waving around as he scrabbled towards his shadow.

He stood panting, his tail twitching at the tip as his shadow disappeared behind his parents. He sighed, sitting down with a pout. He was really close to getting that danged shadow. He sighed. "I almost had him... that tricky stick! he said, cleaning his paw

Kikawaida stretched within the hollow, her khaki coloured fur blended well with her surroundings. The swamps were so close to her now, yet so very far away, shaking her dark masked head she looked to her mate, the big fluffy ball of fur. How she adored him. For him she would do anything for him and their cubs. Those four little bundles were so active, She supposed the difference was simply that she had only had one cub last time and now she had her paws full handling the four of them. Even though she could never return to the swamps now, she had named her cubs after ehr birth place, giving them names of the swamps though they would never live there.

"Tope" Her airy voice whispered as she held out a paw to her son "Be careful" she smiles serenely glancing up at her red eyed mate, she could see he was worried. She was worried too, but over the past weeks she had decided what they needed to do, the cubs were large enough now to travel and witht he help of Mkugenzi and Ripuka they would get them some where safe. "We have to go away from here Umo" she smiled sweetly, a deep worry in her soft dusty pink eyes. A soft sigh wrestled it's way over her lips. "We will go to the pridelands. I have heard so much about that place, it is safe" a crease came to her forehead as she said it.They had to travel through lands she didn't know, go to places she had never been, risk their children out there where there were things that could harm or cubnap them. She shook ehr head, she would die before she let those things happen.

"Children" she called her ears perking forwards as she awaited her cubs responce. She had made the decision now, she must get them moved before they were found here. The penalty was death for her babes and she would never allow that, she would risk the world to keep them alive even though it frightened her no end.

Mkugenzi's ears twitched as he watched the two adult lions and he nodded. "Aye lass, tha proide lan's be a safe place ta be a goin' I reacon tis the bes' place, thoi'll bout keep ye safe thar." He smiled and padded up to the pink eyed lioness hopping on to he back. "Oi'll be a comin' wit ye loike. Aint leavin' me yur wiv out ye."

Ardhi sat with his back against Kika while watching his brother stalk his shadow. He enjoyed watching Tope. His brother could be so funny. Ardhi grinned at Tope and laughed though no sound came from his mouth. As his siblings had been learning to talk Ardhi was still silent and even his growls and yips were almost non-existant. He wasn't bothered by it though he just went on with his games and play.

At Kika's voice he looked up at his mother with his ears perked high. Though he seemed to have to way of communication he still understood the words his mother, father and siblings spoke. He answered in his own ways with his eyes, ears and his body language. He understood and was always listening.

Chepe was lounging a short distance from her mother and father, and an even shorter distance from Tope. She was tempted to be critical of his actions and teach how to really leap and pounce, but upon seeing her mother's care she decided to let it slide this time. She felt that they would always be on the move, and something didn't feel right about where they were now. She didn't quite know what told her this, but she knew they'd be on the move for a very long time.

She rolled on her back, staring toward the sky. The sky is limitless, she thought. Is it the same with the world? Does the world have no boundaries as well? If so, why does it feel as if where we go is limited? Questions popped inot her mind as she hopped to her feet and stretched quietly. She was a quiet cub, she prefered thought to boistrous messes, but she was outspoken when she felt the need.

Her ears swiveled in the direction of her mother's voice. She trotted over slowly, eager to hear more of what is going on. Most other cubs were already there, and she could here some of what Mkugenzi was saying. She wasn't quite sure what he was talking about. Were they moving again?

"Momma, what're the ... proide laanz?" she asked quietly, making gentle swipes at her mother's tail. Here eyes read curiosity and confusion behind their pink tint. She had not heard much about other lands, but this place seemed far away for some reason, it may ahve just been the tone in which Mkugenzi was speaking though.

Giza poked her head up from behind the rock where she had been hiding from her prey of a rather large grasshopper. She knew she was most likely catch it but it was bunches of fun to chase the little critters. She could hear the conversation of the older members of her family but couldn't quite make out what they were saying. She did hear it when her mother called for them.

Giza bounded over her rock and over the small distance between her and her brothers. Her paws slipped on the loose dirt her and she slid into her slightly older brother, Tope. After being sprawled on the ground she quickly bounced back up and nudged her brother up as well before sitting primly in front of her mother.

"Yes Mother?"

Umo watched his brood play and frolick and his heart was warmed by the sight. His crimson eyes fell upon his two daughters, lithe and beautiful like their mother and in his eyes they would one day be mothers themselves... and he a grandfather. He watched his two sons as well, burly and strong they were and would be. He smiled warmly, knudging Kika with his shoulder. Umo stood and waited for the children to comet to attention. The pridelands... yes he had heard of them once.... but not much. If Kika thought they were safe they must be.

"Is it far dear?" He asked simply.

Tope looked up over at his mother with his pink eyes. He smiled and began to get up when his sister Giza fell atop of him. He muffled something inaudable, considering his face was in the dirt. When she stood and knudged him, his unhappiness about being covered in dirt dissapeared and he knudged her back. He bounded over too his sisters side, stood there for a moment and then padded over to Ardhi. He batted him on the nose quick in greeting and then looked too his mother as well.
Momma... Are we going to go somewhere fun? Like-like-like really fun?He asked, his tail curling happily behind him.

Kikawaida gave a slow, gentle sigh as she looked at her mate, a smile lacing her dark maw. "Far enough I beleive that we will have to carry the cubs some times." Her voice was such a gentle whisper as she gazed at her large mate. She was frightened, afraid that they may loose their cubs accross the savannah before they found a safe haven. Still, it was the only choice, they could stay here no longer for fear of discovery and retribution.

She looked to her cubs then, their sining eyes and beautiful faces worth sacrificing her fears, her home for. "Yes, we are going some wheer very fun, though it is a very long journey and you must all stay near mummy and daddy okay?" she smiled, tears welling in those dusty pink eyes. She was so frightened of the world, and with cubs around her it made the journey sound even more ominous. Looking to Umo, she locked his ears quickly "we will be safe won't we?" it was a question but it was fiollowed by a nervous nod. They had to be, they were not safe here.

"The pridelands are safe lands my children and we must go to them now so that you can all grow up safe and happy." She gave a puurr and licked each one of her cubs on the tops of their heads. "Come, we must start immediatly"

Mkugenzi glanced at the cubs and gave a quick nod. He would have to return during the night alone to fetch Nawari, but for now he would start the journey with his lion friends.

Ardhi peered up at his mother watching her with wide eyes. They were going to the pride lands. What were the pride lands? Mother said they were fun whatever they were. That was enough for him and as long as they were all going it would always be fun.

((Sorry guys can't think at all.))

Umo looked too his mate and then too his children, his eyes taking in each one as his worry about a new pride lands filled his mind. He had left the Kusini Mwenzi to be closer too Kika and the cubs and now.... He would be falling under the lead of a new king. He was nervous at that... his old memories of kings danced across his mind. He had loved Asi and would always love the Kusini Mwenzi... but now would he have to love some other king? Would he agree with their ways? He blinked down at the small tufts of fur that were his children. Would Kinamasi ever find them again? He shook his head, looking too his mate and smiling. He bent and picked up his brown son in his mother, motioning for his Genet to pick up a diffrent cub.

Ripuka waddled out from his safe heaven that was a bush and waddled over too the black girl and picked her up with great difficulty. He sniffed his nose, looking up too his lion friend with a grunt. Then, he clambered up his lion pals leg and settled himself into the mane that he called home. He set the cublett next too him and wrapped himself around it. "Lets go den." He said simply, placing a comforting paw over the cubletts back.

Umo nodded to Kikawaida, and then began to make his decent away from what once was home.... farther away from their old life and towards the new.

Giza watched as her siblings were being picked up to start their travles once again. Though he mother's words were reassuring the hesitant tone of her voice was not. She stood and padded over near her mother anticipating another jostling ride.

Chepe looked away for only a moment, back toward the sky, when she felt herself being hoisted up. Ripuka had wandered over and claimed her as his temporary carrying companion. Being placed on Umo's back, she snuggled up in the warm fur of the two bodies she would ride with.

From the height she was at now, she could see more, but it didn't answer her questions. Mother said that the.. prand lands are fun.. safe.. She thought to herself. Chepe looked to her mother, who seemed to be courageous and ready. Giving a small pur, she signaled that she was ready and hid her face under her paws.

She didn't understand why they kept moving.

Kikawaidas slender form marched out in the direction of the pridelands, her soft pink gaze looking always ahead. Her heart was heavy in her chest, she had to leave the home she had always known because of her children, but they, these beautiful little bundles were more important to her than anything in the world. Lifting her head high she bore the weight of the tiny cub as it's bottom knocked against her chest. She would not abandon them, would not hate them for thisa. It was not their fault it would always be hers. She couldn't be away from Umo any more and she did not want to. The world was in front of her and she must take it's challanges.

Sighing softly in to the cubs coat she smiled. At least her family would be safe, the journey would be hard and she was tired from feeding the cubs but she would soldier on, she would have to for their sake. For them she knew she would die, that was the way it was supposed to be. That was why she was their mother.

Umo gathered up the cub in his mouth so that they were both comfortable, and began to follow his mate. Umo, felt that he was at fault for this burden and he should carry it all-not Kika-not Ripuka-not Mku... not anyone. He had a determined look on his face as he made sure all his children were safely into his sights and drudge along behind his love.

This would be a trek and a new world they would live in. Perhaps they were going to be safe and perhaps they weren't. He looked too his daughter Giza and motioned for Ripuka to get her on his back as well.

Ripuka saw the little girl walking and slid down off from Umo's back and waddled up to her, giving her one of his usual looks of 'don't try anything silly cubb' and picked her up, waddling quickly too the still moving Umo and scampering up his leg-to where the other cub lay and he nuzzled her in next too the other. this was going to be a long day
