Kaoru had his hands in his pockets. He was dweling back on his Cinderella story thinking. The New Year had brought on a plethora of new ideas for him; and reitterated a bunch of old ones. He sighed as he turned the corner, on his way to the Thrid Music Room. No one would be there (he assumed). It wasn't quite that time yet (of course, you never really knew). Along with his Cinderella story, he'd started thinking about Hitori a lot. New Years had been a one hundred percent mess. He felt really bad about Hitori's home-less announcement and was intending on asking Hitori to stay with them. That is, he and Hikaru. He, however, hadn't exactly told Hikaru. Exactly. Hinted... But hadn't exactly said anything. That had, acutally, been his plan- last minuet springing do Hkaru couldn't say 'no'. He was going to ask today before the Host Club opened.

Things had nearly fallen apart over New Years with he, his brother, and Hitori. Not to mention the Host Club has a whole. It was as if the three of them had been sitting in that magic punkin, fighting for the reings while everyone else was holding on until they could get it together. Kaoru felt like he was sitting in there alone now. Which wasnt fair, to him. Hikaru was with Haruhi because he'd sent them in that direction. They'd looked at the school message board after lunch. Kaoru had seen an advertisment for the Host Club's hang out cafe. He'd suggested they go take a look at it. No disputes. They were off.

Kaoru had moved to find Hitori, who was, dutifully in class, the last time he'd checked. He wasn't sure now. And here he was, riding in his magic pumpkin to the Thrid Music Room. Alone. Not a fair plan, but still. It was what he wanted for Hikaru. He needed this. Big time. So, he wasn't about to be selfish. Unless it came to Hitori. Who, actually, seemed to focus a lot of energy on Kyouya. Which was strange. And acceptable. Considering.

He pushed the door handle to the Host Club down and was blinded by the familiar spot lights. He nearly fell over in the extreme heat and brightness. Who'd left these on! What a waste. He thought back a bit. Hikaru and he had been the last one in the Music Room... And Kaoru had turned those lights in particular on... So... It was his fault. He really did fall, face first, this time.

The sound of a piano- no music- just the plinking of keys. Hitori was already there since he had no place in particular to go. He did like the gardens but during this time lots of people would wander there, chattering, talking about things that were unimportant. But Hitori himself did nothing- only press down the keys on the piano as if he were a child who was curious about playing. Sure, it was their first day to school, an optional day. But Hitori came anyway to check out his classes. He was surprised to see people at the school- at least more people than on the optional school days back in America. It was as if the kids here actually enjoyed attention. Hitori in this case would rather be alone. It was normal wasn't it? He had been accepted into the club- even Tamaki smiled at him with a warm fatherly smile. Kyouya would smile only a little, but Hitori knew the real meaning behind it... Then there was Haruhi, Hunni, Hikaru and Kaoru- as well as the taller host who he didn't quite meet yet. But all of this caused Hitori to go into a thinking mode where he wandered away from the main hallsways and into the Host Club- the Third Music Room.

His fingers moved over the keys, eyes gazing on the white and black levers as if he were studying them. But in his mind his thoughts whirled around his being there, the school, the people he had met. In his other hand he fumbled with the lighter, feeling the rose carvings that seemed to feel so real against his sensitive skin. His lips moved as if he were talking the whole time. It was warm in the classroom, not too chilly and not too hot. That was good for Hitori, especially in the climate Japan had. The hot summer days and cold winter nights were enough to have his senses on high. So he didn't want to have to suffer that weather during school.

Hearing a door open and close he lifted his head, looking to the entrance. Upon seeing Kaoru he tilted his head, wondering what the twin was doing here alone. Surely he would have Hikaru while wandering the school... unless he sent Hikaru off with Haruhi. Thinking about that posibility his mind made it clear the fact that Haruhi wasn't the type to actually make romantic gestures. Hitori moved his body, twisting it in a way where he could see Kaoru clearly. Upon the piano's ledge, closest to Hitori, was a small bento box wrapped up in a pink cloth with strawberry patterns on it, contrasting with Hitori's silver hair and blue uniform.

"Kaoru-kun. What are you doing here so early?"

"Itai!" Kaoru murmered, sitting up, clutching his head. "H-hi... Hitori-kun." He uncrossed his legs and then released his head, re-smoothed his hair. He pushed off the marble floor and dusted himself off (not that there was any dust to speak of). He smiled his cat-like grin upon seeing the pretty pink package sitting on the piano where Hitori was. He waltzed his way over to the piano, letting his smile drop. He stared down at the polished mahogany the paino was made of. He trailed two fingers along it, moving for the pretty pink package. "Oh, I'm just..." he paused, hooking his index finger under the small tie in the pink and strawberry covered cloth. "Getting ready for an announcement." He swung the thing back and forth, looking up at Hitori once more. His mouth twisted back in his cat smile.

"It envolves you, so you know." His smile dropped once more, and he brought the thing closer to his face. He examined it from all angles, even the "between the legs" look at things. He got on the floor and looked at it upside down, cross-ways, cross-eyed. He brought it to his nose and sniffed at it a few times. He then licked the pink cloth on all of its diffrent sides.

He sat on the floor in a butterfly-like position, the package in the hole his legs made. He stared forlornly at it. "Hitori-kun... What is this strange thing? It looks like a commoner's package... It smells and tastes like it, too. Did you get it form Haruhi?" He stopped and looked up at Hitori. He grinned that oh-so-familiar grin. "What is it? Can I open it?" He pinched one of the ties with his thumb and index finger, gently pulling.

"It's a bento box. Jeez. You live in Japan and you don't even know. Don't you notice in the movies about commoners they have these? Usually a girl makes it for the guy she likes... I think Suoh-san would know..." Hitori pressed the middle C key on the piano and paused, looking to the side at Kaoru. Sighing he took the bento box and undid the tie on the top. Opening up the box he revealed cute strawberry mochi balls, sweet rice balls with strawberries inside of them. They were shaped like little rabbits with tea leaves for ears and small strawberry candies for eyes. Hitori only showed it to Kaoru and then pulled it away, cheeks tinted.

"Theres ten of them... I'm going to share with everyone... I made them at the place I help work. A traditional japanese sweets shop. It was my first time making them... I didn't like it fully pink so I miced in only a little. So now they're pink and white marble bunnies... They're really cute..." Hitori was murmuring as if shy for making them. It was true - he loved kittens and rabbits and all those cute fuzzy animals people come to love.

"It would mean alot if you tried one, Kaoru-kun..."

Kaoru blinked, and said, "Of-of course! Of course I know what that is!" He scoffed, looking away to hide his embarassment. "It's just that I don't... Make a point of being like a commoner..." He ran his tumb across his nose, a hand on his hip. "Except with that insta-coffee..." He loopked dazed a moment. He snapped back and hopped off the floor. He took the bento box from Hitori's hand and peered in it. "AH!" His face lit up as he stared into the box. If the bento box and Kaoru could glow, they would be. "Hitori! They're so... They're so..." His face twisted into a joyful smile, his eyes disappearing beneath the lids as they squeezed in utter joy.

"And you want me," he placed his index finger on his nose and tapped it, "To tast one of these... These..." He glowed again. He nearly chucked the box, setting it sloppily on the table so he could hug Hitori. "I want one so bad! Can I really have one? They look too good to eat, Hitori-kun!" He was so excited. He was bending over the box curiously, his hair nearly falling into it. "Hitori-kun! I can't belive it!" He clasped his hands in front of his chest and ran circles around Hitori. "Can really have one? Really? Oh! This is so exciting!" He gave another flailing hug to Hitori, crashing them to the ground.

"Goooommmeeen!" He sat up in a hurry and peered over the box from his position on the floor. In Kaoru's mind, the box was glowing. He let out a loud squeel and picked one from the center. "I want this one! Can I have this one?" he asked, already taking out of the box. "Hitori-kun!" he squeeled. "Itadakimasu!" he chimed.

He took a small bite out of it from the corner. He let out another loud squeel. He flung from his floor position and did more piroettes around Hitori. "HITORI! They're sooooo... GOOOOOD!" He took another bite. He melted to the floor. "Mmmm..." He took extremely small bites to savor every last one. After he'd finished, he he licked his hands. He moved to hug Hitori again but stopped to rub his hands on his pants. He flung himself on Hitori, knocking them farther on the floor.

Hitori, by then was almost dead. He sighed once the tackling was done and looked to the side. Kaoru's reaction was extatic. As always. Though, it seemed as if Kaoru were only like this when Hikaru wasn't around. Hitori wondered if it was cimply because of him... Since Kyouya often said that Kaoru was usually quieter than Hikaru. But then... people always had their days.

"If you want... I can bring some to school every few days and we can have them for lunch..." he said softly, moving away from Kaoru and tying the box back up. The little rabbits seemed to smile up at him. Looking back at Kaoru he took a seat at the piano and sighed softly.

"I wonder... where the competition takes place. Do you have any idea?"

Kaoru clutched Hitori before he had a chance to get up. "I... I would love to eat such high class food all the time!" Beaming, he rolled over on the floor, dazed within the delicious aftertaste of Hitori's sweet rice bunny's. "Ne, Hitori-kun?" he asked, rolling on his stomach. "You can play? The piano I mean." He placed his hands on his chin, supporting them with his elbows as he waggled his feet in the air. He was angled towards the piano bench, even though he couldn't see much except Hitori's feet.

"Hitori-kun? Would you... Could you? Um... Ano... Would you mind... Playing the piano for me?" He tapped his nose again. "I mean, you don't have to, but I'd really like it... If you'd play for me." He sat up and crossed his legs. "I don't really know when the competition is. Wasn't really paying attention to it all."

"I see... It's odd to have a piano here when they don't play piano... At least... not that I know... Does anyone play piano here?" Hitori asked. His eyes went across the piano keys again and he thought of what to play. Master Shaun would always play the organs- sometimes Judith when Shaun was playing Violin... But with Hitori's good eyes he could repeat what keys to press. He could memorize very easily movements of his hands. Closing his eyes for a moment he thought. Placing his hands upon the keys and straightening his back he started to play 'The Sunlit Garden.' It was a song he thought no one knew- probably a song one of the masters wrote. But it was a nice song that seemed to fit the host club well.

"Well, Tamaki plays. Infrequently, albeit, but he plays when the mood suits him." Kaoru's jaw dropped as Htori started to play the piano. "A-a... Su-sugoi!" he whispered. He stood up and placed a hand on the piano, the other one idley hanging by his side. He waited for the song to finish before he spoke. "We have a piano in the study next to our room. You can sleep with Hikaru and I and play whenever you want!!" He smiled happily. "I want you to come stay with Hikaru and I! That'... My big announcement. Will you?" he asked. "It'll be fun. Like a never ending sleepover!"

"With you and Hikaru-kun?" He blinked, looking up at Kaoru. "Na-na-nani wa..." Looking away he put a hand over his face, his eyes searching for something that wasn't there. Incecurity? No, he had slept with Master Shaun when it was thundering. Sometimes Master Judith but Master Judith never really slept. He wasn't even the least bit shy to share a bed- at least he thought he wasnt. So why was he reacting this way. Perhaps it was the usual act the twins put on...

"D-demo... I... I don't own pajamas or anything... I usually sleep without clothes since they're kinda annoying and restricting(I don't. -le wink-)... I mean..." Something went off in his head and he put his curled hand to his mouth, tilting his head. "What kind of piano is it?"

Fancy text in curly font had presented words on posters inviting young ladies to the Third Music Room to the Host Club's first opening theme, the 'Hangout Cafe'. Haruhi had remembere some class she needed to check out and Hikaru had decided that it was time he searched for his brother.
Really... they were getting out of each other's sights too often these days. Where could he have gone to? He decided to peek into all the class rooms on the way to the music room. He wondered if their Tono or the Shadow King were planning in there since the advertisements had already been put up.
While he walked down the hallways and past corridors it gave him time to ponder over the past happenings. He'd kind of settled things with Hitori, Hikaru thought. The whole incident on the ice had more or less played out in a way where they had a chance to talk some. Kyouya was indifferent as always except towards Hitori, as Kaoru had been telling Hikaru though he himself couldn't really see it all very clearly. The King had been bothering Haruhi and the host club during their vacation, trying to make plans for them to be together. Unfortunately, most of his plans were put down by Kyouya for various little reasons. [Tama forgot about Haruhi's nonexistant passport and his general knowledge of Japan was still scattered by his father's fibs.]
New resolutions. Hai... that's what these new years were for. He'd try to have a good relationship with Hitori now for Kaoru's sake.

"Ore?"
The muffled sound of music drifted from down the hall, seemingly from the music room. "So the King is in then," Hikaru smiled to himself and quickened his pace as he headed towards the Host Club Room.
He burst open the large doors expecting to see Tamaki, Kyouya and perhaps his own brother as he called out cheerfully, "Tono!"

But what his eyes beheld was not the scene he had seen in his mind. Only two people were in the room. Neither of them were the Kings.
One was his brother intently watching the other whose fingers danced upon the keys, unlocking a beautiful melody. That was not their Lord. That was only Hitori.

"Hikaru! I'm glad you're here! Come over here! I have some important news for you!" He smiled, cat-like at him. He moved to the doorway, unable to wait for his brother. He was practically bounceing around him as he pushed his brother towards the piano. "I was just relaying my great big news and idea to Hitori!" He smiled normally. "I just asked if Hitori would like to live with us for a while!" He stared hopefully into his brother's eyes. He looked away, afraind to really see it.

"J-Just let me explain! Since Hintori doesn't technically have a home, I figured he should stay with us until he can get on his feet! We have three pianos, like I was saying." He turned to Hitori. "The one next to our room is a baby grand piano. We have a grand piano downstairs. All three of then are handmaid from France. Hardly played, perfectly tuned! You can play anytime you want. And, like I was saying, you can sleep with us in our bed!" The cat grin reappeared. "No clothing rules apply. We can all sleep naked!" He winked. "But that doesn't matter. You can sleep in our room. We have enough room to set up another bed. King size, if you'd like. And I have this kitten who'll snuggle you to death! You'll love her!"

"Hikaru, is that alright with you? I mean... It seems like a good idea! Right?"

Hitori watched Kaoru, calm eyes focused on nothing in particular, ears listening to only what noises came to it. Hitori's eyes rested on Hikaru for a bit, his mind wondering what the twin would say- in a way hoping he would be accepted. He didn't care much for actually sleeping in the same room, but a part of him wanted to be accepted. It must have been strange for the two brothers to disagree on one person... To disagree on Hitori. He himself wasn't sure on how Hikaru viewed him but in a way he wanted Hikaru to like him. Looking to the side for a moment he spied his bento box filled with the bunny mochi cakes. His hand felt in his pocket for his lighter and his other hand placed its fingers upon the keys of the piano, waiting. Waiting for a responce. He didn't want to cause trouble to the two twins- even though this sort of thing wasn't seen as much in the eyes of the rich.

Hitori bit his lip for a moment before turning back to see the twins. How could Kaoru get his hopes up with all that their house had and then turn to Hikaru to ask permission? It would make a let down turn even worse... But in another way, he was scared that Hikaru would say yes... To everyone, it still hurts when you're not needed.
