I know SD13s can be a little diffcult to pose sometimes, but I just realized how Thackery can't seem to hold his arms up... I know Joey's Uno (Tsukasa) can keep his arms up, like raising a hand, holding a cellphone, etc. So I was thinking maybe Thack's arms are a little too loosely strung. I'm not sure if that's really the case, so... Either way, I don't think I'm brave enough to unstring him yet, but some tips (for just about anything about loose limbs) would be helpful. sweatdrop

Elastic cord doesn't last forever. You will eventually have to restring him. On You Tube I found some videos that show you how to restring a BJD. Try looking at those for help. Also, though you probably know this already, get new cord and string it reallly tight (but not too tight) so it will realx to a normal tension over time.

You may just need to shorten the elastic a little. It doesn't even nessecerily require restringing depending on how the doll was originally strung.

Over time it would get brittle and snap. I don't know how old your doll is but in years to come it would probably have to be restrung anyway. I had that problem once and I did shorten the elastic but it stretched a while later and eventually snapped.

He came in excellent condition and has been no different since I got him. ^^ Jane was really wonderful. But considering Tsukasa himself has been in existence for three years, I can imagine that he will need a tune up in the near future, especially if his previous owner did not restring him or anything.

I remember seeing several restringing tutorials on youtube a while ago, but it was a little hard to see how all the knotting was supposed to look like. Would any of you know any specific tutorials that show clear demonstrations or explanations (depending on if they're videos or websites.) smile

So when getting the elastic string, will I need to get it from the company site, or any other doll site for that matter (like Dollmore, etc.) or can I find the same elastic string in local stores (i.e. Michael's)?

O_o.... I've never heard of elastic snapping... It would either need to be really really really old or have been exposed some strange environmental effects. Since the elastic used for dolls is pretty thick and sturdy... I'd think it would need to be severely dried out for that to happen.

What type of climate do you live in? *isn't saying it didn't happen, is just curious*

The doll was fairly old...5 years maybe at the time...for a long time the doll was kept in storage someplace, specifically I don't know where or what the conditions were like. When I recovered her I gave her a tune up because her previous owner was abusive. But not too long after I made adjustments to the stringing her cord finally snapped.

You may want to try sueding with moleskin or hotglue. Hot glue would be the easiest, and the most forgiving. You can do it while he's still strung too.

I'm kind of nervous to do anything with him... He's my first boy and really, really not easy to tamper with yet. I'm going to a dollmeet this Saturday in Philadelphia though, and I heard that there may be demos on some things like restringing, etc. ^^ But thank you Kiry! I'll keep your words in mind once I'm more confident!
