Janja, Ekevu and Uche were on their way back to the waterfall to interrogate the girls' parents about the Pridelands. The closer they got to their home, the more eager Janja became and more keen on resuming the lead. Picking up the pace a bit, she weaved away from the path that Ekevu and Uche were following and made an attempt to run into the lead- or at the very least, in front of Uche. He'd follow them, why wouldn't he?

"Mum!" she called out the closer they got, "Dad!" It was their attention they were after, and she knew that Ekevu was just as excited as she was to talk to them about it. If they were lucky, maybe they would get to go looking for these lands! Her call was in no way distressed, but rather showed well her excitement.

Stirring herself from rest at the sound of her daughter's voice, Siku listened for a moment, trying to figure out exactly which daughter it was. At the second part of the call, 'Dad', she knew it to be Janja. Sitting up, and grooming to be presentable, Siku waited for her approach.

"I'm here, Janja." She called back, letting her know that she was waiting. There was something important in her tone, though. And, as it had when she was a cub, curiosity got the best of her. Padding toward the direction she'd heard Janja from, Siku called once more.

"You seem excited, Janja. Did you and Ekevu find something?"

Janja heard a reply from her mother and had to skid to a halt to change the path to the right direction. The youth was grinning widely when she reached her mother, even moreso when she heard her mother correctly guess what was up. Mom was so smart sometimes.

"Mom!" she squeaked delightedly, nodding in reply to the question. When she opened her mouth to speak, she realized she had actually gotten ahead of Kev and Uche- and she wouldn't say anything without them. So she stopped and looked around for them to appear.

Ekevu burst through the brush soon after Janja, Uche laying dead on her heels. Pausing a moment to let Uche handle the shock of their mother, she sat very lady-like, watching Janja's actions carefully. She'd gotten there first, so, it was only fair that she got to do the talking.
"Janja and I, as well as Uche here," she said, gesturing to the Klipspringer who had joined them, "have something to tell you."

---

Uche, not quite as settled as Kev would've hoped, was having a decent panic attack at this point in time. THIS was mom?!? This big lioness was these gentle little cubs' mother?! Shrinking back, Uche tried to hide the whimper in his throat. Stay calm, stay calm, she's not going to hurt you..

Janja's grin returned when Kev and Uche burst into view. She could see the panic in Uche, but was more focussed on her own excitement, and Kev's excitement.

"Calm down, Uche," she giggled, and turned back to Siku, "Yeah! Uche was telling us about this really cool place~"

She had certainly been suprised when Ekevu came through with a klipspringer in tow, but even more so when Janja had addressed it. They'd made friends... with food. Masking the dissapointment before it hit her face, she smiled with understanding.

"A cool place?" She asked, seemingly interested in where he could possibly be talking about. If the girls had gotten the idea to visit somewhere, it would throw off their plans to return to her home. It wouldn't, though, because they were a family. She could make the girls understand.

"Will you tell me more about this place?"

The dark girl was obviously very enthusiastic about this idea, though she noticed the sligh falter in her mother's interest in the topic. Her parents were usually pretty good at seeming interested, why was this so different? Janja took a deep breath and circled around behind Uche so he was closer to the front.

"Tell her," she beamed.

Eyes widening, Uche turned to her with a questioning look, shocked that Janja wanted her to tell. Why couldn't she be telling the story? Gulping slightly, Uche flattened his ears, and looked back to the older lioness. Well, better start somewhere...

"I..It's called the Pridelands, m'am. I .. was telling the girls how wonderful of a place it is, b..because it has so much life, and it's so n..nice there, and.. I'm sorry if I did anything wrong!" He squeaked, bowing his head low, and nervously. Oooh boy. He was a cool one, Uche.

---

Smirking slightly, Ekevu tried to hide her laughter from the others at Uche. It was weird, thinking how frightening their mother might seem to Uche. Were lions really that scary looking?

Janja bit back a laugh at Uche's speech herself. She knew he would be afraid, but he needed to see that their mother would not hurt him and that it was ok to talk to her. She was of the same mind as Ekevu. How could the klipspringer be OK around two small lions and not one big one? Of course, there were three of them total but they obviously were not planning an ambush!

Siku couldn't hide a genuine laugh at the formality of the klipspringer, nor the coincidence of his words. She'd been beaten to telling her own family about her home! Smiling softly, she nodded in understanding.

"Well, it's good that you told them such good things about it," she purred gently, the worry completely gone from her voice. This certainly made it easier to prep the girls for their trip across the desert.

"Because, we were actually considering returning there, with you girls."

Siku's reaction was not quite what Janja had expected. Sure, her parents had always been very supportive in all their adventures- but leaving the jungle seemed to the small lioness to be going a bit far in the request department. What a coinsidence that they found a klipspringer to tell them about the Pridelands around the same time they were to find out they were going there!

She looked in disbelief and glee from Siku to Ekevu.

Well, this was a certianly peculiar turn of events. Beaming from ear to ear, Ekevu turned to look at her sister's reaction, who seemed just about as joyed as she was. What great fortune had smiled upon them, though! It must've been destiny, the trip to the Pridelands; something must've been propelling their travels to the lands. There were too many events matching up for it not to be!
"Prodigious, mother!" She said in excitement, struggling to retain some composure in front of her parent. Tail thumping slightly, her red eyes gleamed.
"Can you tell us more about it, then?"

Catching on to feed off of Ekevu's excitement, Uche looked up, nodding with a bit too much vigor. Still, excitement from an outside force may have been helping the cause! Besides, she probably remembered her homelands quite well. From what he'd heard, lions.. didn't tend to forget where they were raised. Then again, nobody really did. It was your home, after all!
"Yes, please!"

Grinning widely, Janja was pleased to see the excited look in her sister, and even one from Uche. He'd helped get to this, surely he must feel safe now! Mom was not the type to eat helpful creatures, especially friends, Janja felt certain.

Enough had been said, however, by the youth. Now it was up to Siku to tell them more! The little lioness turned enthusiastically towards her mother to listen carefully to whatever important things might be revealed.

"The Pridelands are a vast savannah, with generally warmer weather, and a bright, brilliant sun that always shines. There's more lions there than you could ever imagine.. it's almost overwhelming, how many of us there are. Prey is usually plentiful, as well as sources." Her eyes were closed gently as she remembered these aspects of her childhood, trying to remember them as clearly as possible for the girls. Sighing softly, she continued on.

"Oh, girls, it's so amazingly breathtaking, I can't even describe it fully to you... you're going to love it even more when you see it. When we arrive, you're likely to meet your grandmother, and uncle, as well.." Siku murmured the last part gently, opening her eyes and looking at her daughters.

"...After all, it was my childhood home. I'm sure that they all still live there."

Janja kept her steel-blue eyes on her mother as she described the land, trying to imagine it as she said. She'd only ever seen a difference in landscape nearing the edges of the Jungle, and even then she'd not gone far enough to see definite changes beyond it getting a bit drier.

"Why haven't we met our grandmother and uncle before?" she asked curiously, glancing over at Kev. She'd not heard a great deal about her mother's family, and she decided to be tactful and not question about why a grandfather was not mentioned.
