Ra stood outside Obie's door. It was late, maybe midnight he wasn't entirely sure. Ever since the phone call from his father time seemed to have stopped.
Taking a deep breath he knocked on Obie's door, fairly hard in case she was in bed. She said he could bother her any time if he needed her and right now he needed her more than usual.

Obie was just logging off her computer when there was a loud knock on her door. Blinking a little as she glanced at the clock and saw how late it was, she closed her laptop and set it off to the side to answer the door. Pulling the door open, she frowned a little in concern as she took in Ra's appearance. Something was wrong. Reaching out, she took his hand in hers, and pulled him into the room, shutting the door behind him.
"What happened my love?" she asked, taking his other hand in hers and stepping a little closer to him.

Ra smiled and stepped into the room. Under one arm he had a small book, with the other he took her hand and squeezed it. "Um I got a phone call from my father, my, er, my grandmother, his mother. She passed away this afternoon. My father's got me a flight in the morning, to Iran." he looked down at her and gave her a sad smile again. He really didn't want to leave, but he knew he had no choice. He owed his grandmother his respect and his grandfather and father his support.

Obie blinked at the suddeness of his departure, then gave him a small smile as she reached up to gently caress his face. "I'm so sorry to hear that Ne-chan," she said softly, then pulled away a little to start towards the sofa. "Come sit with me. Are you okay?" she asked, squeezing his hand gently. She had only had to deal with death once in her life and she hadn't exactly handled it very well. But this was definitely different. She could be here for Ra.

Ra shrugged and sat down on the sofa, placing the book on his lap. "I feel bad. I haven't spoken to her in a long time, maybe since I went to visit in the summer. She's a woman I sometimes wanted to hate so much, but I couldn't. I had too much respect for her." he smirked and looked down at the floor. "I can't believeshe's gone. My grandfather is going to be devastated. Not to mention Risa, she was practically brought up by them."

Obie curled up on the sofa beside him and slipped an arm around his shoulders. Her eyes dropped down to the book on his lap, then looked back up into his. "I can only imagine love. But she'll have you and your grandfather will have you and your family," she said softly, combing her fingers through his soft hair. "You wanna stay here tonight love?"

Ra looked up at her and smiled again. "Yes, if that's all right. I want to be with you before I have to go. I'm nervous about going back." He said slipping his arm around her waist and turning to kiss the top of her head. "I brought this to show you her." he said gesturing to the small photo album. I only have a couple of pictures. She was pretty strict and refused to pose for photos on grounds of vanity."

Obie smiled a little and leaned into him as he kissed her. "I'd love to see her," she smiled and shifted a little to get more comfortable against him. "How long are you going to be gone?" she asked, glancing back up at his face.

Ra shrugged and opened the album open on an old picture. "I want to come back at the end of the week. After the three days mourning is up. I'll be easy to contact, my uncle has the internet and I'll be able to phone." He smiled weakly and held the album up to Obie. "This is an old one, The little monster on her lap is me." He said fondly looking at the four year old that was grinning at them. "She always wore a full veil outside the house." He said as he pointed to the woman holding him, only her eyes, the same eyes as his stared out from her black clothing. "I'll see if I can find one of her without, she was a very pretty woman, scary as hell, but pretty." He gave a small laugh. "I think that's why she and my mother didn't get on, they're far too similar."

Obie nodded and continued to run her fingers through his hair as she looked down at the photo, laughing a little at his commentary. "Far too similar with much too different ideals about the world," she murmured softly as she watched him flip through the pages of the small album. "You have her eyes," she smiled and looked up at him again.

"here's one." he smirked as he found a picture of his grandmother and grandfather together. They were laughing at something, Ra stood behind them with Parisa, he was maybe thirteen or fourteen, his dark hair flopping in his eyes. "My father and Uncle have her eyes too, though they look more like my grandfather, see. I got my mother's looks, as odd as that sounds." he smirked and rubbed his hand on her hip. "I wish it were better circumstances and you could come with me." he said softly.

"Maybe one day I can love," she smiled as she leaned her head against his and looked down at the photo. She truly was a beautiful woman. Obie couldn't help but feel a little sad. She imagined his grandmother really had been a lovely person. Probably just as scary as he made her out to be, especially since she wouldn't have agreed with her dating her grandson, but that was hardly a reason to feel any ill will towards her. "I'm just so sorry that you have to go alone. Would you like for me to go with you to the airport to see you off?" she asked, starting to feel a little nervous about him leaving her behind.

Ra nodded and smiled as he closed the album. "Only if you have the time." he said as he placed the album on the table and shifted to pull her closer. "I won't be long, seriously a week at the most. As much as I love to be with my family I have too much studying to do." he smiled again and sighed, it still wasn't hitting him properly. His grandmother was invincible. How could she be gone. "Maybe we can go in the summer." he mused as he rested his head against hers.

"I'll make the time Ne-chan," she smiled and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "There are some things that are more important than studying and going to class." Wrapping her arms around him, she hugged him tightly and breathed him in deeply. "That would be cool. If we could," she smiled and pressed a kiss to the side of his neck. "Are you really going to be alright my love?"

He smiled and shrugged again. "I don't know." He said, swallowing as he looked at her. "I don't think it has hit me yet. I keep thinking that maybe they're lying and when I get to the village she'll be there, larger than life moaning about my clothes and that I never call." He smirked and ran his fingers through her hair. "I wish I had phoned more often. I'm such a bad grandson."
