True Name: N/A Species: Great Blue Heron Gender: Male Bonded: January 1, 2006 Stage: Bird Appearance: He is the Beautiful One. Tall, yet compact, his body is the sheer standard for grace and precision. Long, slender legs of a dusted golden hue end envelopped in soft thistle tinted feathers. This quiet coloration follows up through the torso, before beginning to wane into grey, speckled in occasion by rust brown, white, and a light sprinkling of black to offset the rest, offering contrast before again sloping back into the aforementioned colors. The only difference thereafter are the startling eyes of black rimmed red, a mix of scarlet and crimson that pierces the soul as he beholds all that lies beyond his protruding golden beak. He truly appears to be king of his element, made more so real by the impressive crown of feathers that slope ever towards the earth that lies so far beneath him. Personallity: Amber is HIS and only his. The Beautiful One claimed her from the talons of formidable opposition, and as such, he is very much set upon the fact that he is her caretaker, and that it is his duty alone to protect and nurture her until the day she is ready to spread her own wings and take on the world. Kind, but firm. He does his best work when offered an opportunity to gently steer Amber in the right direction, although he isn't opposed entirely to the thought of allowing her to make, and learn from her own mistakes, before imputting his strong opinion upon the matter, in hopes it will prevent any repeated embarrasments for her. At the moment, he still hasn't been given enough time to fully install himself as her official Guardian, and to know her (or for she to know him) as well as he would like, but he seems confident that he will be able to fulfill his duties in time, so long as he exercises a great deal of patience, and a great enough amount of understanding for his 'Little Mouse'. Guardian of: Dismemberment - Being torn Limb from Limb
Full name: Amber Elizabeth Arrastal Species: Human Gender: Female B.D.: February 27, 1986 Age: 21 Appearance: The girl is a dull, mousy sort of thing. Sweaters and jeans make up the majority of her attire, although she is frequently seen as a nurse to those who visit her lobby. Clean as she is, she's never been able to muster a model shine upon her rather thick, wavy hair, nor has she been commited to ridding herself of her glass windows and decoting to contacts. Thus she is always seen behind slightly sliding glasses that magnify the startling shade of brown her eyes contain. Perhaps more could be done to accentuate the large eyes, but for now - little is seen of them on their own. Personallity: Amber has always been the same. Corrected to such a point by others, she's most afraid of embarrassing herself in public, only marginly outweighing her fear of embarrassing others. She often tries much too hard to do things perfectly when others are watching, which usually has an end result that can only be described as having the grace of a train wreck. Loud noises frighten her. She becomes paranoid as soon as she realized people are staring at her, which isn't so much their fault for staring as it is her fault at being so awkward. The girl is a true ugly duckling who hasn't realized that she has much more to offer than the dull, unappealing, and lackluster girl she's morbidly set herself to being. On occasion she'll speak out. Usually it's to apologize or ask a vague question - but on rare occasion she can be found to have a sense of humor about meager misfortunes. In that way she finds happiness at laughing at herself, even when no one else is. As of a stroke of fate on New Years Day, Amber has found herself bonded to the Great Blue Heron. Hopefully he'll be able to bring this failed fairytale back into a day of Happily Ever After - as he certainly has his work cut out for him.

Ardea herodias
Great blue herons are the largest herons in North America. They stand approximately 60 cm tall and are 97 to 137 cm long. They weigh 2.1 to 2.5 kg. They have long, rounded wings, long bills that taper to a point at the end, and short tails. They also have very long necks and legs. The bills are a yellowish color and the legs are green. Great blue herons have gray upper bodies, and their necks are streaked with white, black and rust-brown. They have grey feathers on the back of their necks with chestnut colored feathers on their thighs. The males have a puffy plume of feathers behind their heads and also tend to be slightly larger than females. Great blue herons are mainly active in the mornings and at dusk when fishing is best. They are solitary predators, preferring to hunt alone. However, they do often breed in groups called colonies, and during the day they will sleep with flocks of over 100 other herons. Great blue herons are also extremely territorial and will aggressively defend their nests. Great blue herons are relatively quiet compared to other related species. They release a soft "kraak" when they are disturbed in flight. Other heron calls include a "fraunk" when they are disturbed near their nests which usually lasts about 20 seconds, and an "ar" when they are greeting other members of their species. These herons are known to have up to 7 different calls. They also snap their bills together and use complicated body movements in courtship displays.

Fellow Guardians Golden Eagle: Whether or not this bird is bonded to anyone yet, the Great Blue Heron is well aware of his motives, and is not considerably fond of his attitude towards Amber. For now he's tolerant of this ones company - but once he truly appears, the Herons' eyes will be on him.
Hylusis: The Heron isn't sure what to think of her. She's determined, he'll give her that, and it appears that once she has her mind set on something (mainly french fries) she will stop at nothing to get it. Their last encounter wound up with her calling him a 'Dork', but the Heron doesn't feel as though the girl is malicious, but rather humorous in her own sublte way. Still, he doesn't know her well enough to say for sure. He needs to meet her again sometime...

Roomates EiksThis is Eiks, Ambers pet rat. She bought him the very first time she visited the Birdcage, and has since allowed him to run around her apartment until she can afford a bigger cage for him.

Places to Know Garrison Hospital: Ambers workplace. Her current position is one of the lower ranking nurses, and secretary to her employer - Mr. Rastton. She's trained in general medicine, First Aid, and some Cardiology. As of now, her current position has been relocated to the Hospital Lobby, where she takes calls, greets patients, and scheduels appointments.
The Apartment Complex: In an almost forgotten part of town does the Apartment Complex reside, with its unwealthy, and roughed up inhabitants who can't afford to live anywhere else. This is one of the last lines for the working class of the city, and Amber fits the place well, as she doesn't appear to make a very hefty income at all. However, she manages, and had succeeded in keeping up the rent to one of the nicer areas of the building. Granted - nicer is still located right above smokestacks and constant construction, but still, better than the bricked in windows of floors below. It's a two room, one bathroom apartment with a meager kitchen area. The living room is adjacent to that, before leading into a small hall that houses bed and bathrooms, closed in together. The area is furnished as nicely as one could expect and is kept fairly clean. A somewhat suitable place for a bird, a rat, and a girl.

Ambers' Notes January 20, 2006 - It's been almost a month now since I've met the Heron. The bird...is smart, and cool, although for some reason I find it kind of unsettling just how smart he is. I was raped by Chris again - only for the Heron to have hunted him down and torn off most of his ear! I know it's just territorial instinct for an animal, but how the hell did he know how or where to find some one he's never seen before? If you think that's wierd, I also found out that some one has been playin my Beatles cd while I'm not home. There aren't any signs of forced entry, and on one of the buttons I found some thin white powder that I've seen the Heron use to preen his feathers. Is a bird listening to my music?! I dunno...Eiks sure isn't telling, although the little guy has been doing well. The Heron doesn't seem interested in eating him, which is always a good thing...Ah well...I guess the more I think about it, the sillier it seems. Birds ARE smart, - but turning on and listening to a cd? That's just not gonna happen. If I keep finding his feather powder on it though, I'll set up a camera...Maybe then I'll get some straight answers about just what this bird can do.January 1, 2006 - I have no idea what's going on. by a stroke of bad luck, I was kicked out of my own workplaces Christmas Celebration - only to wind up, by fate, finding another party being hosted by that wierd petshop I bought Eiks from! I don't know why I went, but I did, only to find the place stocked full of over-obsessed bird lovers. However, the truth was, they weren't overly-obsessed at all, and I wound up getting fought over by an Eagle and this big Heron, who was trying to save me! The fight was shortly ended when I lost my head and threw a plate at the Eagle and scared him off, but for some reason, this Heron won't stop following me now! How am I gonna explain THAT to my landlord? Hopefully he doesn't have anything against Herons, because, from what I can tell, I think I'm stuck with this bird... How's that for a way to start the New Year?
