Anybody like Edgar Allen Poe? I mean, I know the whole Poe-Goth thing is cliche, but I still love The Raven and The Black Cat, and most of his works. smile

I love the poem he wrote about the married woman he was in love with. I can't remember what it was called... Her first name was Frances, I think, but he hid her name within the poem, which was marvelously clever.
Poe's writing style is very delicious, really. Not as appealing to me as Swinburne or Brooke's, I'd say, but lovely nonetheless.

He's not bad, although his stories are a bit hard to understand for non-English people like me (hell, my english teacher in the in-depth English study didn't understand the Tell-Tale Heart fully...) but yeah, he is pretty good.

I love Poe's work so much! I even managed to do my English coursework on 5 of his short stories compared to 'Dracula' on their presentation of life and death. I love the sound of his poetry most though.

For poetry I like The Raven and Anabelle Lee
For prose I like The Masque of the Red Death and The Causqe of Amontillado (Or however that's spelled) lol.
Yes. It is a little cliche, but Poe is classic like Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and I think everyone should read him.

I love poe he is wounderful I love Annebell lee, the black cat, dream land, for anne, and a few more but I really like alll of his work I for get the one poem but it inspired me to paint a picture I got like 400 dollars of it but ya
here is alone From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I loved, I loved alone. Then- in my childhood, in the dawn Of a most stormy life- was drawn From every depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still: From the torrent, or the fountain, From the red cliff of the mountain, From the sun that round me rolled In its autumn tint of gold, From the lightning in the sky As it passed me flying by, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.

I enjoy his stories more than his poetry (which sounds like a pun, I know) - The Telltale Heart and The Pit and the Pendulum are particular favorites of mine smile

Dead Ed I enjoy his stories more than his poetry (which sounds like a pun, I know) - The Telltale Heart and The Pit and the Pendulum are particular favorites of mine smile Those are two of my favorites as well as The Masque of the red Death. I love his writing style. It's very cool how evey detail can be scattered and still remain organized (If that sounds like an oxymoron, I'm sorry....)
