The clouds were absent today and the skies seemed to be far away, their blue color light and thin. The sun sat bright on an invisible perch, yet its warmth was not touching the ground enough to create much heat. A wind moved too quickly through the oasis’ trees and sands, scattering leaves and earth all over the crumbling stone of the temple.

Laying regally, one forepaw crossed over the other, a female malu was looking out over the sand dunes with half closed eyes. Wind tussled her golden and brown coat and irritated her tall ears. The sun that seemed to beat down all around her did nothing towards keeping her warm and due to this she silently argued with her God; the sun was supposed to be out to make the sands and desert warm, if it wasn’t going to give heat, it should be hidden behind a cloud or something…

This was not the weather she liked…she didn’t like it all, not one bit.

The young green-hued maluess strolled carefully over the moving earth as the wind scattered the sand from beneath her paws. Her head was dropped slightly as her eyes squinted against the wind, but she could make out the form of another maluess easily. Blinking to wet her dry, scarlet gaze, she settled near the other female with her back to the wind so she no longer had to squint.

Exhaling heavily, she was quiet for a few moments before looking up at the other malu. "Hullo." She sat straight, looking towards the temple briefl as she saw a flash of red and gray. It was her guess that her friend would be joining them soon, but she could hardly be sure with him. He might completely bypass the two of them. Looking at the female again, she ventured a further few words, "I'm Midori."

“Hmm?” Started the femme. She seemed to have been snapped from a state of deep thought, for her brows rose and eyes widened for a second.

Blinking a few times, blue eyes, seemingly unaffected by the wind and sand due to oddly long eyelashes, noticed the new comer. “Hello! I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you at first,” she began. Her voice was delicate and calm, like a trickling bit of water despite her dry colors.

“Midori?” She questioned, however it was no real question at all. Tilting her head, she chuckled lightly. “I’m Kivelli. It is nice to meet you…some weather we’re having, no?” It was a silly question, but it brought about communication, so all was well for now.

The maluess smiled wryly as she glanced over at the female - Kiveli. "It's hard to see anything with this wind." She chuckled, her own voice a light alto in tone that seemed to hint at the secrets her mind and heart held and worshipped. Her ears twitched as her pelt quivered and she nodded deeply, "It's a pleasure to meet you, as well."

Sure enough, a male malu with broad blue and white swirled wings and a red and dark gray pelt made his way out to join the pair. His antlered head was dipped against the wind as he pressed his wings hard against his back to keep from getting carried away or injured. When he reached the pair, he opened his mouth to speak before betting a mouthful of air. Coughing and chuckling, he moved to put his back to the wind before trying again, "I'd say it's better in the temple, but the wind just whips down through the halls."

Kivelli returned the other’s bow with one her of own, though it was slightly cut short as another new comer joined them.

Blinking again, she gave another light chuckle, this time towards the male’s words. “There are places in the temple where the desert’s sand and wind don’t reach…Come.” The last word sounded almost like a demand, however the two others didn’t have to come if they didn’t want to.

Bringing herself up onto all four pillars, Kivelli gave a quick shake of her body, which caused a nice cloud of sand to fly off her. “Oops, pardon me,” she laughed well humouredly, looking at Midori and the unknown male. “This way, if you wish,” she once more gave the offer of moving off.

Without any more delay, the femme began towards the temple’s main entrance at an easy canter. She could feel the wind pushing her from behind and the sand prickling her legs through their thin fur. No matter though, for soon she stopped in the temple’s entrance to await her company…if they were coming, that is.

Midori watched the female stand and move off, her red eyes watching intently for a few moments until she saw Rohirrim follow the female from out of the corner of her eye. Hefting herself to her feet, she, too, shook off the sands before falling instep behind the two other malu. Anything to get out of this wind, even if it involved relocating.

The male didn't hesitate to follow the new female, who's name he had yet to learn. His ears turned so that sand would find it more difficult to be carried into his lobes before trotting closer to the unknown maluess to speak. Rohirrim was polite, at his best, and hated going anywhere with a malu he didn't know. "I'm Rohirrim, by the way. I assume you've already spoken to Midori." He fell silent then. For how long the two of them had been in the temple, one would think that he or Midori would know of such a place. Granted, as a pup, Rohirrim was more concerned with chasing insects around out of doors and Midori had usually been content in the gardens rather than exploring the temple.

Hearing words being spoken to her, Kivelli looked around for a second and found the male. She hadn’t noticed that he had followed so closely.

“I’m Kivelli,” she replied before looking out as she watched the green maluess catch up. Midori…yes, that was that ones name…Names weren’t always grasped quickly by the sand followed. “Yes, I’ve spoken to her, but only just a little. This way now.” Subjects were quickly changed when Midori was soon with them.

Turning almost on a dime, the femme started into the temple. “It’s not far,” she said, answering a question that had never been asked. Her voice echoed off the stone and the wind seemed to have intensified by coming into the main entrance “hall” of the temple.

Rohirrim smiled when it took the female a moment to find him, but said nothing and merely followed as he had been directed. Once they had reached less windy abodes, conversation would come much easier if the femme would be so willing. Midori he knew would more than likely watch silently; in groups of more than a pair, the green maluess was not much for conversation. She was intimidating, in some regards, though with the wind whipping her as it was currently, she was more of a comical sight than ever. He grinned before looking away incase the maluess caught him laughing at her expense.

The female was miserable in these high winds, much more suited to calm nights and gentle breezes. She was not in favor of extreme weather, though her dear friend Rohirrim rather enjoyed it. He probably enjoyed the sight it made of her, but she growled and let the frustration pass. He was a male, after all, and a silly one at that. One could hardly expect them not to find such menial and irritating things to be entertaining. Looking at Kivelli as she updated their progress, she flattened her ears against the heightened winds with a sigh and trudged onward. Atleast Rohirrim's bulk saved her some effort of fighting any winds at her front.

The small chuckle to herself was lost in the wind tunnel of a hallway as Kivelli continued to lead the pair further into the temple. On and on they went, and it was when one might start to rethink the meaning of “not far”, the sand hued maluess turned into a tiny side hall.

The wind still came down the narrow way, but not as forceful as in the main hall. Through this she only led them several meters before turning and entering a spacious square room.

It was almost perfectly square with a high ceiling, and was one of the few completely still-standing rooms of the temple that was above ground. Soft sand nearly covered the entire floor, mini dunes here and there. The walls held no windows, but above in the middle of the ceiling there was a medium sized circle cut into the stone and from it shone a shaft of daylight. Sand trickled in every now and then, but the winds outside just swept right over.

“This should provide some covering till that blasted sand storm is over. Due make your selves comfortable.” Kivelli moved out of the narrow entrance way and near the circle of light on the sand.

The multicoloured malu was grateful for a temporary respite from the sand storm, but he had been comfortable enough in the high winds that he was not so put out by the occasion. He flopped unceremoniously not too far from the beam of light, shaking his wings out to clear them of irritating sand briefly before laying partially on his side with a leg or two sprawled out. He was comfortable, his back leaning against a small dune somewhat for support. Smiling at Kivelli, he nodded, "Thank you. The rest is appreciated."

Midori was rarely outspoken, but in cases of extreme irritation, she tended to speak a little more than she might have usually. Entering the small room, she sighed heavily with extended relief as she shook her coat free of any sand and debris that had lodged itself in the short hair. Looking to Kivelli, she nodded her head as well. "Yes, Kivelli, thank you so very much. This is a lovely little room."

The maluess looked around her before picking out a spot close to Rohirrim but closer to the light, looking up at the sand that was whipped about by the wind above them.

Azure lanterns watched as the others got themselves situated and during that time she made herself more comfortable as well; tucking a back leg into the sand, crossing her paws at their ankles, simple things.

Towards the male’s words, she flicked her eyes towards him and gave her own smile and nod of the head, and then did the same towards the female. “Thank you…” she hesitated for a moment as she tried to remember their names. Rohom? No. Minori? No, no. Hermin? Oh definitely not! Giving up, she simple continued, “…Thank you both. It’s not much to really look at, I know, but it seems to serve its purpose well enough, no?” Oh Gods and Goddesses, she was so bad with names…

The male lay back completely, levelling the sand dune and scratching his antlers through the fine powder. He looked up at the two females before laying his head back again, "It certainly does. Personally, I'm not too much bothered by the wind. But if I have to listen to Midori complain one more time." He looked back at the green maluess with a cheeky grin before glancing to the other femme. "If you ladies don't mind, I think I'll be taking a bit of a nap."

"I was hardly complaining, Ro." The maluess glowered at him before retorting, "And I don't mind. It was what I was attempting to do before the wind storm blew in." She looked to Kivelli, her expression melting into something a bit gentler. Sinking her pawpads into the warm sand, she nodded to the malu. "It is perfectly suited for what we needed, Kivelli. Thank you."

The sand Maluess gave a watery laugh at their small bickering.

"You're welcome. It's no trouble at all, really," she stated, laughter drifting off and leaving a smile behind.

"So, have you lived here all your life...or?" Kivelli's full attention was on Midori, who's name she had just grasped after the male had resaid it.

The maluess glanced at the now dozing male, rolling her scarlet eyes before looking to the other female. At the question, she smiled and nodded, "I have, actually. I was born here, and my Goddess decreed I should stay here."

Looking over the sand hued malu, she tilted her head and sufficiently moved her forelock from obscuring her gaze. "And what of yourself?"

Kivelli nodded at Midori's words before chuckling and answering the question. "I'm affraid I havn't been here long. My brother and I came up here from the south where sand meets ocean..." She paused for a moment, as if forgetting what she was talking about. Glancing down at her paws, she moved one of them to rid it of sand before looking up again.

"Oh! I find it very lovely here, though...except I'm not sure if I can say the same for my sibling." She chuckled again.
