The midmorning sun sent soft rays of light across the meadow below as a few lazy, puffy white clouds floated slowly across the bright sky, obviously in no hurry to get anywhere antime soon. A gentle breeze blew through the soft green grass, and rustled the leaves in the elegant trees. Flowers of every color and hue dotted the meadow, and cattails swayed in the breeze beside the stream. Another perfect day in the valley.
Too bad Niz was so far from her tree; there were so many pretty flowers everywhere. No bother, she could enjoy them here, anyway. The red and creme-coated mare bounded around the meadow, keeping within a certain distance of the stream. She pranced, skipped, and bucked about; warm weather always made her feel light-hearted. Not that that was any different in any other type of weather. The only time weather could upset her was while cantering through the snow while it was falling from the sky, and even then it didn't bother her too much.
She paused in her prancing about to scan the area with her emerald eyes. There were other nequus around the valley, of course, but none right nearby her. At least none that she could see so far. She returned her gaze to the many flowers that surrounded her, and she fluttered her thin wings a bit before returning them to her sides. Hmm.. What to do now?

Lydia, fluttering her wings happily, high-stepped around the valley, her blue eyes lit up to the point of them almost hurting. For some reason, since her last Episode, she hadn't had a single one, and was unusually happy. How long had it been since her last Episode...? Two days?... three?
Lydia nibbled half-heartedly on some sweet grass nearby. She immersed herself deep in thought, almost forgetting to chew as she plucked the fragile blades of grass from the earth. She swiveled her ears around.
A stick broke from behind her, and she spooked; galloping forward a few paces, then turning to face the invisible threat. She neighed loudly, angrily, and stuck her tongue out at the stick; it was all its fault that she made a fool of herself.
She laid her ears against her head and peered around her, hoping that nobody saw her display of fright. Usually she didn't care, but this wasn't a usual day. She ambled her way towards a small tree nearby and scratched her face on it, still deeply involved in her thoughts. What if she never had another Episode? Of course, that would be the best thing that happened to her, but that'll never happen. What if she could remember everything? Her memory was still extremely foggy, but her visit with Lucius had at least cleared some of it up a little. She wondered what her future would be like as she made her daily rounds around the edge of the valley, scanning the area for anyone she may want to speak to.

Her ears flicked about. Niz paused again after hearing another horse neigh quite loudly, and she quickly scanned the area for the source of the sound. She spotted a bae mare scratching against a tree, and her ears perked forward. Oh, someone to talk to! Maybe she liked flowers, too!
She jumped into a canter, running towards Lydia. She hadn't noticed her display, but wouldn't have cared even if she had seen it. She fluttered her thin wings as she cantered, then pulled them to her sides again. Once within a few yards of the other mare, she slowed to a stop, ears perked forward. "Hello there! What's your name?"

Lydia, whom was having a nice lovely time making her rounds, spooked yet again, only this time, she was violent.
She lowered her head and ears and spread her wings wide, trying to make herself look threatening. Her long hair fell in front of her eyes, and she swished her tail about wildly. She growled, yes, growled, at the other mare warningly, baring her teeth and slowly making her way around her.
"Who are you?" she said coldly, narrowing her eyes at the perky nature of this mare. "What do you want?" She stomped the ground a bit, snorting and breathing heavily. Being threatening was so much fun.

Niz stopped, tilting her head to the side slightly, the smile disappearing from her face. My, this bae acted strangely... "Hi, I'm Nizhoni, but my friends call me Niz! I just wanted to see if you wanted to talk," she said, fluttering her wings a bit while watching Lydia curiously. My my, she certainly was acting very strange. But, no matter. She still looked like a nice horse anyway. "Why are you acting like that?" She chanced, unable to help from asking. Maybe she expected her to act like that too..? She hoped not, it looked very weird.

Lydia didn't take her cold stare off of the other mare as she stood up straight and flicked the hair out of her eyes. She kept her wings outstretched; they'd come in handy if / when she needed them to escape.
"I act like this because you scared the crap out of me," she said, just as coldly as her stare. "I don't take well to surprises."
She straightened herself out and said under her breath just loud enough for the other mare to hear, "I'm Lydia, but you can call me Lyddie if you'd like. I answer to almost anything."

She fluttered her wings a bit, then returned them to her sides, offering the other another smile. "It's nice to meet you, Lyddie! And I'm sorry for surprising you like that, I didn't mean to." She said truthfully, watching her closely with her emerald colored eyes. She was still acting strangely... Why were her wings outstretched; was she going somewhere? She hoped not, she wanted to spend time with someone. The valley was more fun with someone to talk to. "Do you like flowers?"

Lydia cocked her head to one side and shrugged. "Some are better tasting than others, but overall, I think they're mighty tasty." She half-smiled, half grimaced. She wasn't good at all of this 'nice happy pretty shiny excited' thing. She was hoping that she could go into the dense woods and find someone like her.
"What about yourself?" she asked, using all of her 'nice' strength on just that one question. Inside, she was spitting on herself.

Niz tilted her head to the side slightly, a curious look upon her face as she watched the bae. This equine seemed odd.. Maybe she wasn't that friendly? She'd remembered from previous conversations with friends that not everyone was as up-beat as she herself was. "Yes, I like flowers. Where are you from, Lyddie?"

Lydia shrugged again. "I can't really remember anything past about two weeks ago," she said quietly. "But I'm guessing that I came from somewhere near here. I'm not really sure."
She glanced longingly at the woods again. Maybe someone in there could help her..
"Care for a venture into the woods?"

"I don't really remember either," she said with a shrug as she looked around. Her ears perked up at the mention of a walk in the woods, and she nodded eargerly. "Oh yes, that sounds fun!" She said, trotting over towards Lyddie, eyeing the forest. It always seemed so pretty and mysterious. "Have you been into the woods before?"

Lydia, not taking her gaze away from the looming woods, shook her head. "I've been looking forward to it," she said absent-mindedly, slowly starting to make her way towards the woods.
They weren't actually all that scary, much to her dismay. They were just... dark. The canopy of leaves shrouded the rest of the woods in darkness.

Niz looked towards the woods as well, ears perked. "Oh, okay." She tilted her head slightly, then joined her new friend at a slow walk. The forest did seem a bit dark, but she decided that was because of the leaves. "Why have you been looking forward to it?"

Lydia shook her head, smiling a little. "I don't rightly know," she said, peering about and marking the best possible place to enter the woods. The least 'dangerous' would be straight ahead; through a grove of thick pines, she could see, but nothing too dangerous lying on the ground. The rest of the trails had been etched by hooves, soiled by blood, and generally beaten up. The one straight ahead was the safest.
"Ready to go?" she asked, making her way towards the entrance she had chosen. "We've got to hurry, before it gets even darker."

She smiled and nodded to Lydia's response. Everyone else got feelings like that too, she figured, so it seemed natural. She looked at all of the different entrances, but didn't notice their beaten appearance, nor the blood upon the ground. "Yes, I'm ready," was her reply, and her ears perked at the mention of 'hurry.' "Hurry? Okay!" Eagerly she bounced into a trot, headed towards the woods. Had she a bit more common sense, she might have felt a certain sense of foreboding, but alas.
