Victor had been restless from staying in his duplex for so long, only going out to the caferteria when he was hungry and just as quickly going back, but it was tiresome, he didn't feel like reading any of his books or just trying to pass the time; And he certainly didn't want to admit he might be frightened of meeting some of the other islanders.
So Victor went exploring, he didn't know about Annie or Jamal, and didn't think there was anything really to be afraid of. The lizard-man went down to the lake and found a river outlet and started to follow it, for all Victor knew he might find something interesting along the way. He followed the river though the jungle to the west side of the island, eventually reaching a spot where the jungle stopped, and the river cut though the beach on its way to the ocean.
the Lizard-man walked further out of the jungle and sat down carefully in the sand, looking down the small river's path to where the river merged with the open ocean. Victor was glad it was a bright sunny day, the warm sun felt good

Bia didn't see that there was someone there, sitting on the sand, until she was almost upon him. The sand beneath her toes... if they could be called toes, anymore, with segmented leather making up what had previously been her little brown feet. But whatever they could now be called... the sensation of the sand beneath them was exquisite in that it was... distant. It was as if she were wearing shoes and yet, not- so much sensation was doubled this way, and distanced by the conflicting instinctual memories of the bird, and by her own... "Bia"ness. Even yet she didnt' know what she was becoming. She'd not been able to scrape the courage out of the pit of her stomach to call the labs and ask.
So much was on her mind, as she looked alternately down at the earth and then up into the clouds, wondering why both had such strong appeal- that she didn't notice Victor.
"Ahh..." she said, finally seeing that she wasn't alone. She'd meant to make an 'oh' of surprise- but what came free was a practical caw- all her bill could manage.

Victor had been relaxing, quietly absorbing the warmth from the sun, and listening to the sounds of the river and the Ocean, it was good, much better than just sitting alone in his duplex. Victor hadn't noticed Bia either until she was nearly right over him, causing him to jump lightly at the Caw she had let out from her beak. It took a moment for Victor to realize what Bia was, some sort of bird-woman.
"Oh hey there" Victor said as his tail shifted in the sand.

"Sorr.. rry." She stretched out the word because it was difficult, she knew, to understand her when she allowed the syllables to mash together- they became fuzzed, chewed by the unforgiving hard edge of a bill.
Bia pointed to her beak and shrugged, as if to explain what she was apologizing for.

Victor watched Bia point to her beak and nodded in understanding. "Its alright, I probably should have been paying more attention." Victor couldn't help but look directly at the huge beak and knobish thing growing from her forehead, he couldn't tell what type of bird she was but it reminded him of a toucan or something.
"I'm Victor, want to join me? I've just been relaxing here" Victor was glad he ran into someone else that had been changed, it would have been far more awkward if Bia was still mostly human

She nodded- and though a smile was an extremely slight thing for her- a barely managed uptilt of the slit alongside her bill- she gave Victor what she could, and sat next to him.
"Bi-a." Her bill wagged almost comically as she spoke, and she found that even still she had to train herself not to watch it as it bobbbed. "Nice... to meet you."

Victor smiled as the bird woman sat down beside him, he saw the slight uptilt to the corners of her large beak, but couldn't tell she was smiling. "Bia" the Lizard-man echoed, his tail shifting in the sand again. "Nice to meet you too" Victor set his clawed fingers in the sand, "Guess you've been here a while?"

She looked at the man- he must have a post-her-transition addition to the island- she didn't recognize him, his serum, and the name didn't ring a bell. He seemed nice enough... but then again, so many of them did. ...So many of us, she corrected, and then nodded.
"A very.... long. Time. You?"

Victor looked out towards the Ocean, and the surf for a short while before looking back at Bia, he was surprised he wasn't disturbed by her appearance, he felt, and thought himself to be..ugly.
"I'm not sure how long now, I got here in November, and then a few weeks later, i changed, and then I don't know what happened, and I learned the other day it was christmas, so I guess I've been here a while"

Bia nodded, but didn't know what to say. She wished she had something- anything she wanted to talk about... something on her mind that was worth the effort it would take to create the painstaking words. So instead, she just put the tips of her long, warped fingers on Victor's shoulder, as if to say she was sorry he was here. Then she nodded again, and sunk her toes in the sand.

Victor wasn't sure what to say or talk about either, it was too easy to dwell on what the labs where doing to them, and such negative thoughts. He was pleasently surprised by Bia placing her fingers on his shoulder. Victor looked at her hand, and the long stretched out digits, studying it a moment before reaching with his hand to put his own long clawed fingers on Bia's, smiling softly as his tail flicked behind him, an appendage he still couldn't control
"At least its nice to have some company once and a while"

She nodded again. It was becoming a very familiar gesture. "Lots of... downtime. In be-tween time be-tween people. Can be lonely." Bia Grey was not one who saw loneliness, or the admission of it, as a weakness. In fact, she wasn't wholly torn up in the aggravation of thought about her own weaknesses- they didn't interest her, and didn't cause her to lose sleep.

Victor nodded, he certainly agreed with Bia, there was alot of downtime on the island, he had already finished the few books he had brought to the island and he hadn't found a driving need to try and fill that void with some hobby or activity, but he did feel he ought to meet and talk to others.
"Yes it can be lonely" Victor said, and like Bia, he believed being lonely wasn't a weakness or was something he'd lose sleep over. For a while Victor quietly sat there and wiggled his toes and claws into the sand, watching the water flowing down the river.
"what do you do to past the time? I've been mostly reading and watching movies that I have"

"Watch vi-de-os..." she was careful to close her great long bill gently. "More appe-tite, too. Can eat more." She smiled at that, and leaned back on her long hands where she'd rested them in the sand behind her. It was a female joy- coming from a world where it was important to eat as little as possible and stay trim and fit- to this world, where food was for survival, and the more the better. Of course, there was a birdly suggestion whispering around her mind that asked for food so often that it almost took the joy out of it. ...Almost.

"You have any favorate movies or type of movie you like to watch?" Victor asked as he watched Bia lean back on her long hands, and turned himself more so he could face her more directly, folding his legs together while his tail curled to the side, it still was strange to have to deal with the new appendge, but Victor was slowly learning to deal with it, along with his other changes.
