Herald's Tale

It was time ago for the children to gather. Once more around the old man as they had before. Not for a sweet voice, for his age shown more in his words than ever on his face. Not for a the show, for certainly such a frail thing moved as little as possible. Nay, there was a treat far more sweet than that to be given. Far more enticing than even a sugared treat or a day off of school. The children knew this and those that didn't were told the rumors. For the village had gossip regarding the old man, the herald. Regarding the tales he spun and wove into great images. Rumors that they were true.
For had it not come to pass that years after the tale some sign so individual so similar did roam down the path. Had they not seen a princess or two? Perhaps a troll in such likeness it was uncanny. Some claimed he was a prophet rather than an old weaver. Others did say he was a demon of sorts. Most just believed him a herald to the news that would come. So as each story unfolded it gained the title of a Herald's Tale in the village. For it was not everyday he spun those stories of history no other's knew, nay, it was a rare event. And once more that event was to begin... for today he had started as always...
"What is man to do when it can no longer control what it makes?" Silence met the old man as his hoarse voice washed over the audience before him. None wished to speak for fear he'd start again and some word would be lost. For certainly he wasn't the loudest of all humans. "Is anything truly good or evil?" Once more a question was posed. Once more silence.
"Well perhaps you'll have an answer after hearing this..."
It began on the Day of Hymn.
All were to attend the sermon, it was law to attend. Death came to those who chose not to come. Such was the law. For Tiraleth the goddess was said to be a harsh ruler so said the church, so was the truth. For that was how things were. Their word was law, for it was the word of Tiraleth. There need be no questioning it. If anything, it was for the simple reason that questioning the goddess was to be considered blasphemy. Blasphemy was also treated with the death sentence. There was no trial of course. Your trial was simply the word of the head priest, Alekaleth, and if he deemed you guilty, you would be punished for the crime.
Thus was the law of Endov. Such was the fate of Endov.
But it all began there on the Day of Hymn, and it would all end there on the Day of Hymn.
Tiraleth was to be sung a song of such respect, such a prideful song of her utter perfection was to be sung by all in the village. This was the decreed law. So when the family did not show and it was brought to Alekaleth's attention, it was as if all hell would break lose. For he simply claimed that the goddess would not stand for such lack of faith, that the heathens would have to be purged before her wrath befell them all. So it became not only the church's business, but the town's. A march of fear to that door by a mob run by tyranny and fear. A march that never achieved the goal of purging.
For it was not negligence to the goddess which greeted the head priest, but rather a gift from her. For that was what the crazed man proclaimed it to be. A gift of a child. A child that the sweet lady herself had given to them for their utter devotion. This child was to be their personal sign of the lady, her hand of sorts.
So it was said, so it would be. For his word was the law.
But of course, this child was not ready to be such an important figure. For how could a mere human have the title of God's Hand? No... there had to be some changes made before this little gift was ready. So without a word the two parents were forgiven. Left in their home. The price they paid was that of a child they would never know, a child who's fate had become that of the town. Something ruled by Alekaleth.
But that fate would be told another day.

Distinguishing Markings: He tends to keep his hair tied back at the base of his neck, and in the front one side of his bangs always hangs coverying his right eye.
Personality: Haruki doesn't like people in general, but he really dislikes people who seem to be mindless, clueless, or just drones. (With that in mind, he despises Raja with a deeper hatred than he holds for any other creature.) He's the type to remain indoors and read(everything he can get his hands on) rather than go outside and socialize. He'd be perfectly content to stay in his apartment at D-corp peacefully, but D-Corp had other ideas. Haruki's opinion of Revon is that he is a charge he must watch due to duty. He insists on things remaining quiet most of the time and tends to force the need for slight perfection upon both children.
Despite the cold exterior the man isn't all bad, and even has a soft spot for children. One he'd never admit to. He cares about their stability and well being enough to attempt to accomidate their interests at his own expense at times, but only to a certain degree. He is a hermit by nature afterall, he's not going to go out on any huge limbs.

Distinguishing Markings: Two dark full sized wings adorn his back, as well as the set of feathers protruding from each side of his head in place of ears. Though he seems to lack tail feathers. As well his eyes seem to draw a fair bit of attention, as well as his somewhat feminine build and appearance.
Personality: Revon is rather shy, and sometimes stutters a bit due to this. Though he's getting better about speaking clearly. The boy has a rather large obsession with the colour pink as well as a few things most boy's would shudder at. Still, he's sweet in nature and genuininely wants to please people when he acts. Sadly, for the most part he was stuck with Haruki, who pretends he doesn't care, and previously he twin brother Keivlos. Keivlos tended to use the 'bad bird' saying to guilt Revon into doing anything he wanted. It caused a bit of lasting damage that has made Revon perpetually afraid of displeasing people and obedient to a ridiculous point. Something he may, or may not get over in time.
In the meantime he's left with Haruki and trying to cope with the fact his brother recently disowned him, denying that he was his brother. Something that was more than a little hurtful to the young boy. Still, it has been both positive and negative in that Revon has been more openly able to pursue thing he enjoys while dealing with the new emptiness. Though this is something that requires a bit more time to find out the lasting effects of.

Tiraleth The supposed Goddess of song. Alekaleth has claimed that she is a highly loving god when revered and filled with wrath when shirked in the least. Her existance is questionable as she is only spoken of.
Alekaleth The head priest of the church in Endov, Alekaleth is a man consumed with power. It is obvious that he has his own goals in mind when issuing orders to the village and rules Endov with something of a Tyranny. The religion he claims worships the Goddess Tiraleth, although it's more of a cult than any form of religion.
