A fidgety lion was 'resting' beneath his tree, yes his, with a quite perplexed look on his face. The song of the day, as he heard it, was rather... all over. It was sort of strange in beat and in sound, but it made the male want to jump up and dance to it. He fought the urge for some time, still trying to figure out why in all his life he had never heard such a sound, but finally caved in and punced to his feet, sending his back legs flying and front legs in a sort of split. While his body let loose, his mind flew away, over his tree and out into the sky. It was a trick a friend of his, a wild dog by the name of Mugen, had taught him. In the weeks of practice he had had with such an experiance, he had learned that it best suited him to 'fly', as the dog had so affectionatley called it, while he was dancing. That way, both mind and body were at their pure bliss state, merrily going at whatever they pleased.

With eyes closed tight, he thought of the savannahs, and pictured them clearly in his mind. He had yet to see another feline for a few days, which was mildly disturbing, at some deep level in his heart. Though he could be perfectly happy singing and dancing along the grasslands, he did occasioinally crave the duet that was company, and he needed to furfill such a craving when it popped up. Even the herds were not littered with hunters and huntresses, which was indeed very odd. Such thoughts were not fit for his happy state, however, and he tossed them out to the wind, and set his mind back on the dance. Perhaps later, he would go off and attempt to find a companion for the day. For now, however, he would stay under the shade of his favorite tree and do just what he was doing.

Muujiza's eyes flickered gently as she walked. The lean green lioness had long since learned that, for all her size, speed, and strength, she would be no match for the right creature - be it wildebeest, rhino, giraffe, or any other - on the wrong day. Her head swayed gently to some inaudible sound only she could hear within her own mind as she walked, each step slow and calculated, her powerful shoulders moving in perfect rhythm, never using any more strength than was absolutely needed.

She had learned like that, learned that she should never expend more energy than necessary, for she was caught up in a world where safety was not something to take for granted, and a world in which surprises seemed to hang about in every bush, behind every tree. And she had gotten used to it, but the sight of the pale blue-gray lion resting beneath a tree was not something she had expected. True, she had been expecting the unexpected ever since birth, but she had not seen another lion for some time, and it was a bit of a shock, to say the least, to see one now, where she least expected to see one.

Another rhythm had entered the day's jumbled tune, another singer about to take center stage. Juke's left eye opened slowly, and at sight of a lioness headed his way, the other quickley followed suit. He stopped dancing and stood stock still for a moment, trying to decide if the creature were a mirage. The heat, after all, could play some nasty trick's on one's mind. But the beat she was making... No mirage could do that, could they? She was so green! Like the top of his tree, even! He had never seen any animal, feline nor canine, that shade before.

The male stood dumbfounded a moment, the only movement his body could make was the constant, steady swishing of his tail to keep in time with the savannah music. As the lioness drew nearer, however, he was able to snap out of it and offer a polite gesture. With a nod of his head in acknowledgement to her exsistence, he sent out a solid note in the most sing songy voice he could muster. "Hey out there. Why don't you come into the shade, out of the heat?" The steely blue male smiled kindley, and shimmied his body towards the side, as to make room in the cool cover for another.

She never, for a moment, hesitated, for in her mind, she would always be safe in the presence of another lion. She nodded once, her course directed toward the blue lion. The curious markings he bore in his coat brought to mind an image of a vulture. It looked to be something of a shell. Shells looked like crabs, in a way. Crabs, they were food, were they not? And surely, vulture ate food? She couldn't be sure, only she knew that they were a nuisance that came to crowd at a kill.

She made her way toward the tree, her eyes travelling up the length of its trunk to land on the leaves high in its branches, swaying gently in a wind so slight she could not feel it. "Aren't they beautiful?" She mused, more to herself than anything.

It was a song of confidence that the leafy feline sang as she boldly made her way towards a rogue male she had never met before. In his entire life, he had yet to meet any female with such courage to move right towards an unknown being without hesitation. Only the bubbley and pleasent males he had come across in his dances throug the savannah were so relaxed as to strut up to him without a second thought. Filed in the back of his mind, a light bulb went off that he rather enjoyed the confidence that this lioness displayed so casually.

When the shadow had completley enveloped her, and the cooler air transformed her coat to a darker hue, she sang out her stunning solo with an air of mystery of something Juke could not understand. Beautiful? His eyes shot around for a moment, tail swishing lightley, attempting to find what the lioness had spoken of. There was something about her, something that wasn't earthly, that intrigued him, and anything she could say, no matter how out there and odd sounding, had to be looked at from every angle. After a moment of intense thought, he had nothing. "Er, 'scuse me, but what's beautiful?"

Muujiza turned her head, as if only just noticing the male. Up close, she could see his pale eyes, much like hers, and the two light stripes that seemed to her like a bed for his eyes. She saw the jagged swirl on his haunch, like the scratch of a lion's claws. The sight of it filled her mind and brought forth an image of sand. She tilted her head slightly, as if gazing up into her own mind for a second, before returning just as quickly, before more images could fill her mind with thoughts of fish and crocodiles.

She nodded, almost dreamily, and stared up at the leaves. "Them leaves are beautiful, that's what." She said softly. All else had gone from her mind, save for the leaves. They rustled ever so gently, a beautiful rustic sound, so foreign and exotic, yet so familiar. It enveloped her, until all she saw were the leaves, and nothing else around her mattered.

Seeing as her eyes were so glued to the veggies above, Juke could not fight the reflex to look up himself and gaze into the mesh of green. He had never turely thought of the simple beauty of a tree before, only of the steady backgound it always provided for the song. She was right; they were stunning. Tossing a sideways glance back to the lioness, he was shocked to find how much she looked like those leaves. He already knew well that she was quite green, but almost the exact hue? It was a tad eerie, he had to admit.

His interest could only be held by the top of his tree for so long, before he eyes finally dropped back down to his comany. As it was /his/ tree, he felt the need to play host to this stranger, and start a conversation rolling. "Yes, they are. I'm Juke, by the way."

"Muujiza," The lioness responded dreamily as she reluctantly drew her upward gaze away from the leaves. Had he not been quite as interesting as he was, she would not have bothered to take her eyes off of her beloved leaves, even for a moment. What she saw, when she looked down, was that she had simply shifted her gaze from one wondrous sight to another. Through purely the eyes of a beast whose very reason for living is the natural wonders of the world, of course, and Juke was nothing less than a wonder.

And it was through this sense that the jade lioness found a strong vibe emitting from Juke, one of an artistic inclination. Music. The word rolled about her mind, filling it and refusing to leave. "I guess it's no real surprise I rather like leaves," She said. "And you? Every lion something they may call their own. What is yours?"

Ever the gentlemen, Juke didn't miss a beat in saying, "Nice to meet you, Muujiza." He bowed his head slightly in respect to the green lioness, and breifly wondered if she cared for the polite and gentlemenly nature at all. either way, he would do as he always did, do as he had been taught to. There weren't enough mannerly and kind lions in the world, were there? Not enough to be gentle with others and handle with care. It was all rough and tough now, something that Juke hated with a passion. It was truely the only thing he hated with a passion, really. Those who believed that a gentle, care free mind should be toughened up or the world would swallow them whole were loathed by the steely creature. Those who were gentle could handle the world just fine, they just dealt with it in a different manner.

"I enjoy the plants of the savannah occasionally; I enjoy watching them sway in the wind." He nodded lsightly, but continued. "What I really like, though, is the music. The music of nature. It's really quite beautiful." A soft smile adorned his features, his tail still keeping a steay beat to the oddly active song for the day. He looked out into the heat of the day, at the air bending at the ground, playing tricks on all creatures' minds. And then he looked at the birds. "The birds, too. They are the stars of the songs." It was true, their sweet voices always stole the show, day in and day out.

"Music," Muujiza echoed with a gentle smile. "I'd thought as much." She inclined her head gently as she did so, both as a return to his gentlemanly greeting and to add a compliment to his interests. "I never though I would meet another lion with an interest in music," She murmured. In truth, she had never met a lion who had loved music before Juke, but she was in no way short on imagination, and her dreams had often brought her to places far out of reach of the minds of other lions. And one such dream and brought to her the gift of music.

"Ah, the birds..." She said wistfully, looking up at the sky, one absent of flight at the moment. Birds fished, and fish swam, and water made life... And all at once, her mind was back on the leaves. A dreamy smile crossed her muzzle as her eyes slanted skyward, almost as if she were looking into her mind, for a moment, before she returned as if nothing had happened and simply smiled her dreamy smile.

The male wondered for a brief moment where she went when she left him like that. She was obviousley oing away to some place, some place special, maybe? Some place where no one else could get to her, some place safe. He wished he could do what she did, he wished he could run away to a place all his own. Then again, he did, didn't he? He lost himself in the music sometimes, walking around the notes and tunes, getting away frm the trials of the savannah he lived on. In that sense, the pair were alike, in that they could go away from it all. It seemed they were also both gentler by nature than others might be, though he could be wrong about her. From what little information he had gathered, however, he could guess that she would only do harm if she had to, as would he.

"Where do you go, Muujiza?" He cocked his head to the side, looking at the lioness dreamily. He knew they did not know eachother all that well, and that such a question could be taken as rude, but he was just all too curious now. "Where do you go when you go away like that?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 30, 2006 5:17 pm

"Where do I go?" Muujiza mused. Now that he had asked her, she realized that she did go someplace when she drifted off. "Somewhere... leafy," She said after a while, unable to suppress a small smile. "Somewhere where the grass is green, and the birds aren't ugly. Somewhere where... there's wind. All the time." She nodded. Yes, that was where she went. It was a beautiful place, yes, and one that only she could go, or invite others to join.

"What about you? Do you go anywhere? Ever?" She had been told before that wandering into her mind in the presence of others was rude, that she should never do it. And still, she had never quite been able to stop herself from doing so, but it was only natural for her to think that others did too, only out of the presence of others.

Juke found the matter quite interesting, and closed his eyes in attempt to picture this special world in which Muujiza was safe and at home. "That sounds nice." It seemed like such a lovely place, a place he wouldn't mind visiting some day, if such a thing were possible.

"Sometimes... Sometimes I get lost in the music." He smiled a little, thinking of how to describe the rhythm's world in which he retreated to during the heat of the day, while he danced around the savannahs or layed lazily under his tree. "It's green, as well, lush as the spring. And the song is stronger than ever there. All things around are dancing and singing... It's quite enjoyable."
PostPosted: Sun Dec 31, 2006 6:35 am

She found it easy enough to imagine his world, one that was strong with the beat of music. She simply added the music, and perhaps another vibe or two just as lush and wonderful as all else in the wonderful world. The birds that circled above, each wingbeat a solid note accompanied by the rustle of feathers.

"Do you know why it is?" She asked him. "Why the music is stronger there for you? It's because..." Here she hesitated, for she had no idea how she could ever accurately describe why his music beat so vibrantly in his world, while the trees rustled with leaves fatter and far more green that was ever seen in the svannah. "It's because music is yours, yours alone, and nobody else come along can enjoy it as much as you."

"Mine?" He chased that thought about for a few moments. He had never thought that so grand a thing could be his. After areful thought, however, he came to think that she didn't mean true ownership, but something more... deep and soulful. In that sense, he supposed that music could be his, for it was his life force. it was what woke him everyday, it was what determined his activities... It even went so far as to choose his meals. On the days that he hunted, he would go after certain prey depending on the particular rhythm. Yes, he supposed it could be his, for even while he thought the music was alive in him.

"Then what iin this world is yours, Muujiza?" He looked at her slowly, wondering if the leaves would be special enough to be hers. Anything, really, that she called her own was special indeed.
