Girugamesh (ギルガメッシュ or Gilgamesh in English) was formed in 2004. After putting out some demo tapes and getting some gigs they final hit it off with their first single, Kaisen Sengen, which hit #10 on the Oricon Indies Chart in.
Information About the Band
Formed in 2004 in Japan, Girugamesh was getting gigs, but not catching the size of crowd that they wanted. But once the record label, GAINA-JAPAN took Girugamesh under their wing, they put out their Kaisen Sengen single and it hit top ten charts all over. It got to the spot #10 on the Oricon Indies chart, just to name one.
In 2005, Girugamesh went on a nation-wide tour called the “Fuyu no Yukidoke Tourou.” After the tour, Girugamesh released a DVD featuring live footage from the tour, went on two more successful tours and then after long wait, finally released their first album (which was actually a mini-album since it only had five songs on it).
Girugamesh is still around and working hard to put out the best sound possible that matches them and has kept the same lineup that the started with which was made up of Satoshi (Vocals), Nii (Guitar), Shuu (Bass) and Ryo (Drums).
Since their successful launch of the Kaisen Sengen single they have released and additional nine singles along with their mini album and DVD. They have also appeared in a variety of magazines over two dozen times.
Lyrical themes include “war”, “prison”, “lies” and “betrayal” and from all this is probably where they get their distinctive, unique, dark look. Girugamesh is considered to be hard rock/metal/indies band.
For Girugamesh only being around for about two years, they have been pretty successful. Four of their albums are currently sold out; their first single made it into a top ten chart and their mini-album is considered by many to be the best of girugamesh so far.
