Mighty hunter, stalks his prey...
A playful growl came from the cub as he stalked through the grass after a crawling butterfly, his tail flicking back and forth, before he lept through the air, pouncing mightily... only to land on grass. Looking up, Ai frowned as his 'prey' flew away, farther again.
Quickly recovering, however, and leaping to his feet, the boy went chasing off after it, laughing and swatting at the air when he was close enough. Now if he were -only- a little bit taller, he'd be able to catch it!
Maybe this is what mum had meant when she had told him he wasn't big enough to hunt yet....
...
He'd get bigger and be the bestest hunter EVER!
Finding a rather suitable rock, the dark lion crouched on it, before springing off, claws extended to attempt, for one last time, to catch the butterfly.......
only to fail and roll through the grass and dirt, getting both knotted up in his fur.
Not that he'd notice. "COME BACK HEEEERRRE!"

Hmm, where was she now? It was nice here, green grass, the blades touched her sides gently, and she peered around. SO open and wide and seeming to be full of life. But the silhouettes she saw were a little away from her, but that was just fine. She was wandering here, she hoped she hadn't broken any rules.
Kat was a new adult, she still felt like a cub inside, she never grew up properly per say, but she still wanted a home. She was forever searching it seemed. perhaps her search might end one day. When she could find a nice home, where everyone was nice. Who knows, perhaps one day she might find a mate...she shivered at that thought for a moment. She really didn't think anyone would like her that much though.
Butterflies were in the air, she watched as one came close to her, then landed on a rock before her. The orange and yellow colors were gorgeous, they made her smile. She tilted her head at it and crouched down. She felt like a cub, wanting to pounce, but she restrained herself, and just watched it and smiled.

And thus, came another triumphant leap into the air after the butterfly, following it onto a rock which, apparently, it had decided was a nice perch. Unfortunately, it got away again, leaving Ai sitting on a rock, staring at a large female.... like mommy big.
"......"
Qith a tiny bit of a squeak, Ai took one step back, puffing up in an attempt to look threatening.. however, when one was Ai, it only made him look utterly adorable in his failure.
"I've never seen -YOU- before." Ai stated, pouting a bit.
Dangit! And just when he thought he knew everyone...

Kat watched as the butterfly flew away, and now a small black lion was in its place. Older than a cub, but younger then she was. He was quiet for a moment, and her ears fell back, and she just looked at him. She didn't see him! She thought everyone here was far away from her! Now she was nervous, very nervous...
He took a step back and puffed himself out, she smiled as him but stayed low, she wanted to say something, but she couldn't, she was frozen by her nervousness and shyness. When he sad he hadn't seen her before, she figured he lived here. He seemed quite nice, perhaps she made him nervous too?
"I-I'm sorry...I just...got here today...was...looking around, I don't really...have a home so..." she stopped and looked at him. SO noble looking at such a young age? Others must be envious of him. "My name is Katana'Kitsune...you may call me Kat if you'd like..."

Ai took this as a suitable answer, lifting a paw to brush down all his fur to it's proper UNpuffed position, before setting it back down on the rock next to it's match.
"I see." he replied, nodding a bit, before looking over his shoulder towards the looming shape of home in the distance. "Makes sense, I would guess... there -are- a lot of lions who come to visit here."
The introduction turned the juvenile's head back to the rogue female, one of his ears standing up, while the other remained flattened back. "... Katana'Kitsune. Long name, I guess. Not many names that long around here. Mine's Ai'kunliu. But I guess if you can find anything better to call me than that, most of the time people go with 'Ai', feel free too."
The dark lion shrugged his shoulders a bit, before rising up, standing proudly on HIS rock. Yes, it was his now. When this had happened, nobody knew. "But I don't think you should be ashamed of being here.. I mean.." Ai lowered his head a bit, trying to keep it on the same level as the female he spoke to;
"It's not like you're here to do anything BAD.. right?" a bit of a frown. "One of our last visitors did something bad." he explained, before growling a bit.

"Ai...such a nice name..." she loved the sound of his name. It was sweet but strong and full of pride. He was full of pride she believed, just how he acted. He seemed like a cub one moment, then more wise then she was the next. She admired that, admired that he could do that so quickly.
"Bad?!" she said softly, her ears flattened back and she lowered herself to the ground more, "Nonono...I-I don't like...bad stuff..." she didn't want to dwell anymore within that topic. Something really bad must've happened. All she wanted to do was to see what this place was like, she just wanted to maybe scout out a future home maybe.
But with something bad happening...would she get pushed away too?
A bad feeling turned in her gut and she frowned on the inside.
"Is it nice here....to like, live here Ai?" she asked softly, trying to change the subject from bad things to maybe good things.

A beam of pride. "Thank you~" he purred. He liked his name too. The sudden shock from the rogue caused Ai to frown a bit, though as he nodded. Yeah, something bad. But she seemed like a nice lady, so he'd give her the benefit of the doubt.
Hopping down from his spot, he lay on his stomach in front of Kat, grinning a bit. "Why do you look so glum? Do people without homes look sad all the time?" he inquired. Hmm.. he'd be sad too, if he didn't have a home, he guessed.
"Nice? Aww man! It's GREAT. Lotsa people to play with, and plenty of space to run around in, and and and.."
He probably could've gone on a bit, but he stopped himself.
"Not to mention mommy and daddy, and Jing, and my sisters are here, too!"

Kat laid down herself and watched Ai and smiled, trying to hide her sadness behind it. "I don't have anywhere to call my own Ai, thats why...I'm...always alone out there..." she said, pointing with her paw in the direction from which she came.
She listened to his words about his family, she longed to see her own, "Must be nice then, to be here with family...I have no family to stay with anymore..."Kat flicked her tail and tried to forget about the past, but it was working.
She missed her family so much.
"You must have the girls chasing you AI huh?" she asked with a soft smile, or perhaps he didn't like girls yet. Hmmm.

Ai crinkled his nose a bit. Ewww. "Not that -I- know of." he stated, then shrugged. If he seemed like he didn't care about girls, they'd leave him alone... or at least that was HIS logic. Not very -GOOD- logic, but logic none the less.
Aww.. she didn't have a home?
The black juvenile looked back off over his shoulder. "Maybe you should come see OUR home! It's great, and I'm sure it'd make you happy!" he beamed confidently, nudging the large female with a paw, before hopping up to his feet, ready to lead the way!

So he didn't like girls yet? Well, in her mind she knew as soon as he got a bit older, females would be chasing him as if they were starving and he was a lone antelope out in the savannah. She could tell he would turn out handsome, whether or not he would acknowledge that was for him to decide.
His home?
She was curious.
"Alright then Ai, lead the way, I'll follow," she hoped they wouldn't come across any larger lions that might try to kick her out. Perhaps being guided by her new little friend would make it easier for her to see everything around here.

It wouldn't be surprising to have females chasing him down.. afterall, he was one of two boys in a family with 5 kids... So girls weren't BAD. Just them liking him was ICKY. Guck.
"Alright!" he decreed happily when he was given permission to lead the way, turning in his pawprints to start bounding back to the looming rock in the distance. Not that his 'running' would have gotten him anywhere that quickly. His short limbs only moved him so quickly, afterall.
As he went along, he went off into explanation on a lot of things...
"My mommy taught me my directions when I was little, that's why I don't get lost anymore." Keyword, 'ANYMORE', "We have a big water-hole out here somewhere.. I dunno where it is exactly... but out here in this direction, I know.. and bugs.. OOOOOOH lotsa bugs. And kids. Everybody seems to have kids."
Sagely nod.

Kat went after him, keeping up adn looking all around. Everything was so different here then teh roguelands. There was a lot of members she took it, and many had kids? She sometimes wondered if she would ever have a family. But she looked down on herself, she never thought she was prettier like the other, or stronger or smarter then most lionesses.
She believed she would be alone for a while.
A long while.
"Is everyone here friendly Ai? Like, do they accept those who wander this way?" she wondered if this palce had any tests she would have to go through to join. She heard stories or tests and obstacles other prides might have those who want to be accepted, have to do before they could be considered.

Kat's inquiry got a bit of a pause from Ai, who stood in place for a moment, thinking, before starting to trot off ahead again. "Well.. my momma was an outsider.. came from some far away place she hasn't really told me a lot of.. and I think most outsiders just need to talk to our queen about staying. I dunno how things'll change since the incident with her father, though."
A bit of a frown formed over his expression at the thought.
"But if it's needed, I give you MY approval, so if our queen needs another opinion, I could give one~" He beamed, ready to help out in any way possible!
The little dork.
"But I would think we're all pretty open to outsiders. Most of the pride was, at one point in time. Either they came from another pride, or they were born to rogues who joined the pride. Like me~!"
It was a really long way of partially answering the question.

Kat smiled at Ai. He was so cute with his way of answering things. He seemed older at points when he spoke, but he was still cute as a cub, but she knew he wasn't a cub, and might reach adolescense before either of them knew it.
"Well I'm glad I have your aproval Ai, to have the approval of such a fine lion if appreciated," perhaps there was hope for her yet. If she met teh queen and asked to stay, perhaps she might have a home. Kat was surprised she wasn't as nervous around Ai as she had been with others. Perhaps there was just something calming about him.
Ai had been born from his parents who were rogues that came here? Hmm, perhaps she could meet them one day. Surely they would help her if she asked how to go about asking the queen. From everything that she had seen here thus far, she liked it. So warm here too, she didn't like being cold and caught in the rain a lot.
"If I do decide to stay here...would I be able to come find you Ai?" it was a question of just being able to see him, talk with him, play with him. SHe knew she was older, but age difference meant nothing to Kat. She found a friend in Ai, and she hoped he felt the same about her.

EGO STROKE. Preening a bit from the compliments, the dark juvenile nodded a bit. "Yeah, I guess so. I'm not -that- great, though." It was the obligatory 'denial' comment that came with most compliments.
Again stopping as he walked, Ai looked about, considering his surroundings with great care. From here, he recognized........ ah. There we go. It was something he'd picked up on doing as a cub, which his mother had taught him; learn your surroundings and you can find your way home. In fact, he'd pass that thought on; "My mother taught me, when I was little, that you need to look at everything you pass from both directions, both forwards and back when you travel through such a large place as this, or else you'll get lost~" he explained, resuming his walk with a bit of a walk in his step.
Looking at Kat when she inquired if she'd be able to find him again, Ai nodded fervently. "Sure you could find me! I'm pretty hard to miss~. Unless you mistake me for mommy, or my half-brother, or my cousin, Mosi. But I don't think that'd happen~"
Indeed, Ai was very unique from his family, and moreso from the rest of the pride.
"So you could come find me whenever you wanted~.. Except in the middle of the night. That's when Xu, one of my sisters, wants to play with me.. but you could play with us!"
