As some of you already know, I've been working on going into the US Air Force. I've been waiting the past few months for some medical stuff to clear through the surgeon general so that I could get a waiver and be qualified for enlistment. I just got a call yesterday from the AF liason to let me know that I got the waiver. Now the next step will be to take the DLAB (test to go into linguistics) on Thursday. The I just have to talk to the liason and set up a date to go into basic training in San Antonio, TX. Then I'll be going into advanced training for my career field. More updates to come.

Hey, congratulations! My dad was in the Air Force but he retired from it when I was still in elementary school. What are you hoping to do there? Pilot? Navigator? Ground control? What else is available? smile

>.< The test was pushed back a week! Apparently the enlistment place didn't offer it today. Now I'm gonna have to make sure I get the day off from work so I can go take it. >.<
I hate waiting on other people.

hey good luck. its always good to hear about a fellow servicemen even if it is the airforce. no seriously I love the airforce. when I was in iraq our EOD guys (its like a bomb squad) where airforce. probably saved some guys from getting hurt. anyway you will love san antonio when you finally graduate basic and get a chance to see it. The school that us medics first learn our job at. is also in san antonio. I always felt bad on weekends because I would be out on the town just chillin. (we had weekends off there) and I would see the new airforce graduates in their dress uniforms looking confused. when you first get out of basic you dont know what to do with yourself. because you get back a few freedoms you didnt have in basic. like eating at a restraunt. when I graduated army basic the first thing i did was eat taco bell. anyway good luck. maybe I will see you in iraq sometime. (lets hope not)

Thanks for the support guys. The first thing I'm going to do when I graduate basic if I can manage it is go see my girlfriend wherever she is at. I swear I will track her down and give her the biggest hug and won't let go for at least five minutes, maybe more, yeah, probably more. I might just end up staying with her if she is in Cali. If she's in Utah then I'll stay with my uncles. Or wherever is closest to her. I'll probably cry like a baby when I see her. Oh well. I'll bet none of you can guess who it is. Yes she is in the guild. And quite a prominent member too.

K. Well I finally got it over with, passed the Linguistics test, but guess what. I'm not going into Linguistics quite yet. I'm going into Intelligence. It's funny though, cause I took the test for Linguistics and everything but there just weren't going to be any open slots for a while so I was gonna be put on the waiting list until something else opened up that looked good. So after I signed my contract and everything, I was about ready to go back home when the liaison came out to find me to tell me that something just barely opened up in the Intel field and asked me if I wanted the job. I said yes and so I'll be swearing in probably in the end of January sometime or in April. But either way I did swear in today for the delayed entry program. So I am now officially Pvt. Hales (not sure if there is a private. When I get sworn in later though 'll be an AFC (Airman First Class). If it turns out that I like the Intel job then I'll stay in it, but if I don't, I'll get back to Linguistics. So, yeah. I'll keep you posted on anything else I find out. But to add to the comment about smelling, I agree whole heartedly. But my basic training will be 6 and a half weeks. Though the advanced training will be 2 years from what I hear. So it'll be kinda like going on a mission 'cept I'll be training for wars on earth not heaven. I'll still be active in the church while I'm gone though.
