This thread is to introduce yourself to anyone in the guild. You don't have to post in here if you do not wish to but you might want to. A lot of the introduction threads usually post a few things about yourself including: age, sex, interests, and many other things. Well, that's absolutely fine if you would like to do that but I figure we could spice it up a little and see where certain people stand on issues in the world (mostly pertaining to the Life Issues forum or life issues). You can do one or two or however many that you would like. You can also add anything about yourself that you would like.

Where you stand on:

1) Abortion.
2) Teen sex.
3) Teen pregnancy.
4) Gay marriage.
5) Sexual preference (your views, not your own sexual preference).
6) Suicide.
7) Self-harm.
9) Love.
10) Drugs and Alcohol.
11) Religion.

Most of the questions can be answered by what you think about them or how you think they should be solved.

Soleq
Captain

PostPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2005 11:52 pm

Not to be outdone by ButterBalls above, I shall take a few moments and present my background, at least, all I wish to share. My name's origin is rather boring: I was tired of my old screenname of nine years, and so I began thinking of a replacement (more like a temporary name, as this account was originally going to be what's known as a mule). After a grueling seven minutes of toiling in front of my laptop, I suddenly placed the Latin word for Sun ("Sol") with the cryptic suffix "eq" to create Soleq. Voila, a new identity is born. And yes, it's pronounced Sol-eck.

I would say it's fair to assume that my life has been longer than yours. It's as simple as that.

Currently, I work as a teacher. Yes, that's right, I'm one of those people. So the next time you're in class, contemplate if I am your teacher. If you guess right, I'll automatically pass you in my class. Well, not really, but you'll definitely earn some extra credit.

Anyway, onwards to the nine questions:

1) Abortion.
Officially Pro-Choice. People claiming to be Christian who kill doctors are yet another fine example of the hypocrisy of organized religion.

2) Teen sex.
Can't officially comment, but I'll say that what goes on in a person's bedroom/livingroom/car/etc that doesn't produce children and/or pain is usually fine with me.

3) Teen pregnancy.
Usually the result of teenage logic ("I sware I saw on MTV that douching works"). In most cases, first trimester abortion solves the obvious problem. Actually, just look at your parents and ask yourself "Did my mom birth me before the age of 20, and if so, do I want to be just like her when I grow up?"

4) Gay marriage.
Officially in support. People who claim marriage is only between a man and a woman usually have an IQ somewhere between 70 and 75, which is unfortunate, because it means I can't officially call them retarded. Close, but no cigar.

5) Sexual preference.
Believe what you want, love who you choose.

4) Suicide.
The weak man's exit. If you try, you'll probably think "damn, I shouldn't have done this."

5) Self-harm.
Life isn't as bad as it seems. Quit cutting yourself for attention.

6) Love.
Does it exist? Is it just a bunch of chemicals? And damnit, who wrote the book on it?!

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
Tried them both, and I'll stick with the soda. Beer is good, but only if you know the right type. Oh, and pina coladas...mmm.... But I digress, having a few drinks at 19 is a right of passage. Getting drunk at 14 is idiotic.

9) Religion.
The only religion is what you hold to be true in yourself. If you believe you're a good person, then who am I to judge you. If you know you're going to hell, then shouldn't that perk you up to correct your life a little? This whole concept of organized religion is bullshit: always has been and always will be. If you're curious about my own beliefs, they fall more in line with Taoism. I dispise Christianity.

Ello, Seigest here, the name and logo are from a novel I once attempted to write. The reason I help the folks here is so that I can be more useful to my pals IRL, cause everybody has issues, including myself. Ok opinions:

1) Abortion:
- I believe this is the choice of the one having the child, though it is definitely not a decision to be taken lightly, they must be very sure that its what they want to do and not let anyone around them tell them otherwise.

2) Teen sex:
- Personally I believe it is ok for two people to express their love for each other this way. However teens have trouble deciding if what they feel is love or infatuation, hence it is usually good to wait until they are certain that what they are ready for that sort of relationship, one of much trust, understanding, and devotion.

3) Teen pregnancy:
- Assuming one had the choice in this matter I think it would be a bad Idea, considering how busy ones life is during there teen years it would be much wiser to wait until adulthood. However teen pregnancy is not usually a choice, that’s why its good to have people around that are trustable, if that’s not available seek a support group, find others in the same situation and support each other.

4) Gay marriage:
- Love is love no matter, what gender one is. Though marriage is an act of sealing the love between two people, so be sure that one marries out of love and not just to show the world their sexual preference.

5) Sexual preference:
- In this day and age it’s not exactly different to be gay or bi. Personally I’m straight, but have sibling who are gay, bi and even anti sexual.
4) Suicide:
- This is never the answer, it’s worse then running from problems it’s making them everybody else’s problems and then filling them with grief. It greedy, selfish and totally unnecessary.

5) Self-harm:
- From what I’ve seen (my sister is a cutter) this is a vice just like smoking, only different because its caused by depression that can be rooted deeply in someone’s mind. By finding the source of this depression and eradicating it the mutilation usually stops. In some cases I’ve witnessed the habit was stopped by changing vices, from cutting to something like smoking (though I’m not sure witch is worse).

6) Love:
- Like to describe this like a sack of potatoes waking you in the back of the head. A sensation of every emotion, even some which one may never have experienced in the past, quickly rushing though your mind. Be careful, sometimes love is mistaken for Infatuation, knowing the different between the two can spare one a load of pain. Personally I have what’s called an unrequited love, but now I must concentrate on keeping a strong friendship between the one and me I have feelings for.

7) Drugs and Alcohol:
- Very common vices, a Vice is something that someone uses to keep their mind in control or ease any pain they may be in. Drugs and alcohol can easily become habit so they are used even after they are needed the best way to remove this vice is to replace it with something else, keep your mind busy on other things like books, or hobbies.

9) Religion
- Not my strong point, not being of any actual religion, I have little knowledge in what religions have what beliefs, so I just try to avoid these issues.

If you want to know more about me then read the log on my siggy (I do my own graphic art and poems), or if you want to have a debate about my opinions PM me, I wrote this at like 2am so my grammar may not make much sense. sweatdrop

Arrien

PostPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2005 8:06 pm

Mrow, all! ^_^ This be Arrien, who is here... well, mostly because I'm obligated to be. Plus, this guild looks more than a little interesting, anyway. 3nodding So, let's see, here... I have to type stuff....

1) Abortion.
If it comes down to the wire, I'm a supporter of abortion. I don't like it, but I think that having the choice is extremely important. It's not fair to bring a child into the world that could not be given the proper amount of love or support; and especially if it presents a health risk to itself or its mother, it would be best aborted. I generally believe that something is not designated as life until it can sustain itself (can breathe, digest food, pump its own blood, etc.), so there is more than enough time for someone to determine whether an abortion is necessary before the fetus becomes "living".
However. I do not support abortion when someone engages in high-risk behavior, such as unprotected sex, when they had every opportunity to avoid it and can afford to support the child. If someone like that doesn't want a baby, they should've protected against it. Their lack of self-control causes needless strife - not necessarily for the baby that was aborted before it became "real", but for the people who have to live by that decision. While it may actually be worse for the child to be raised by such a person... it's irresponsible for them to take such risks, then not to accept the consequences of their behavior. It denotes a serious lack of maturity, which should be addressed before that person participates in sexual activity again.

2) Teen sex.
I don't believe that this is appropriate, not in the least. I don't think my opinion should particularly count, though, given that I've never bothered with sex in any form, and don't fully comprehend the urges people get. I believe in teenagers keeping their sexual activities limited to masturbation; anything beyond that, teenagers in general are not emotionally (or, in many cases, physically) prepared for. If'n y'can't BEAR children, y'shouldn't be doin' nothin' that can MAKE children.

3) Teen pregnancy.
I think I pretty much covered that in the two above questions. If it happens, it's too late to do anything about it; the best choice is for an abortion, since teens are not able to properly provide for their children. But each person has to make this choice individually; if a teen gets pregnant and wants to keep their baby, and their parents will let them (since it's the guardian's choice, ultimately, whether or not a teen gets an abortion), then so be it. I wish them all the luck in the world. And I will never, ever say "I told you so" if it goes wrong, I swear.

4) Gay marriage.
Why the hell not? The only reason there is for people to get quippy is because "marriage" is a religious activity; but, unfortunately, the term is used in government as well. From my point of view, there are only two non-discriminatory options; either let everyone have marriages, or let everyone have civil unions. Simple as that.

5) Sexual preference.
How plainly can I say this. What you do between the sheets is none of my business. Nor is who you do it with.

4) Suicide.
Ah, now for my sordid little story.
One of my Gaia friends killed himself over a fight he and I had... sometime in March. He'd made many, many attempts at just that before, and I'd worked very, very hard to help him. He'd had psychriatic help. He was really messed up, and was constantly paranoid. There came a time when he accused me of abandoning him - in public, some of you might remember the threads he made in the LI forum before they were deleted. I was going through depression and a very busy time in my life (and, I should mention, right after I'd become a mod - if that wasn't a point of discontention), and I told him "You know what, I'm not going to make you change your mind about me this time. When you stop being suspicious and accept that I'm not going to betray you, tell Yuu (a mutual friend of ours, RL friend of his) to let me know, and I'll unblock you".
Of course, he never bothered with that. I'd dropped a line by Yuu to warn him Tao might try to kill himself again - this had become something of a weekly trial, where Tao would tell me he would kill himself and leave me to cry the rest of the night. But, naturally, the one time that it could even remotely be considered my fault, he actually did it.
I still hurt over it. This is probably the first time I've posted the story anywhere, now that I think on it, because I've never wanted to start a pity fest. But I think this sums up my views on suicide, more than just about anything could. The only reason anyone should ever consider suicide is if it would somehow save another person's life. Otherwise, it's nothing but waste and pain.

5) Self-harm.
I can understand why people do it. But it never seems to help them, in the end, so I generally do not approve of it.

6) Love.
Is a b***h. ^-^; I'm a/anti-sexual, because I've decided I've got no use for love or sex in my life at the moment. Until I've got the maturity to handle it and the desire for it, I'm content to leave it at that. People, if you have fun playing on the dating scene, that's great for you. It's just not for me.

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
Much like self-harm; I can understand why people do it. I can even approve of the legal variety of drugs and alcohol, in recreational moderation. But too much never helps, and when all's said and done, it's usually better to just sweat out the stress and wait for everything to shake back to sanity than to turn to drugs.

9) Religion.
I was raised an aethist; sometime in middle school, however, I found myself understanding the full impact of what aethiesm meant, and being terrified by it. For the sake of having something to hold onto, I began creating a religion for myself to follow. I recognize that, unless the human mind somehow has the ability to create a retreat for the human soul to enter after this life, that my religion is false in every sense of the word - but it's there for comfort, not for any actual religious benefit. I view religion mostly as a coping tool and a moral code, and I accept and tolerate basically all religions out there.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2005 10:31 pm

I presume that I need no introduction, but I'll give myself a short one anyway. I've been a member of GaiaOnline for 2+ years (I remember when LI was in ED). I've gone through about 4 accounts (Sipid, Capt_Sipid, Sipid_Peabody, Captain_Sipid), and am currently on my 5th. I'm the captain of a group of individuals who call themselves the Peabody Pirates. As a group we work to bring humor back to Life Issues and force people to not take themselves so seriously through satire and outrageous antics. We're often viewed as trolls and flamers, because quire frankly, no subject is viewed as sacred and above humor and comedy. This often leads to humor as many users get enraged at us and make passionate arguments in defense of their situation, only to be easily crushed and stifled by our cold logic.

In public a Peabody I may be, the way in which I conduct my private life is a far cry from my antics on Gaia. As an individual, I can be known to actually give good advice from time to time, on a personal basis, but that involves people actually personally approaching me. As personal life philosophy goes, I'm a staunch Objectivist, and as such I'm also a Libertarian, and atheist.

And, since I am a good sport about everything, I'll play along and write a little about each of the topics posted:

1) Abortion.
I am strongly in favor of abortion. The key reason is that women who refuse to have abortions often end up as single mothers, and I feel that they are, in general, bad parents. Also, I think that when a woman has a child and the man does not approve, he ends up being screwed by her for at least 18 years, as he pays out child support for a mistake he never wanted. I'm strongly against single mothers, and child support checks.

There also happens to be the rational reason that having a child at any age stops one's life from moving forward at a normal rate. I have this theory that one can not be both a good parent and good student/worker at the same time, as these goals typically conflict with one another. You either choose to give up on your future to raise your child properly, and become a drain on my taxes while you sit on welfare. Or you decide to put your kid in daycare, and actually go to school and maintain a job. This means that you're kid will grow up without proper supervision. This means that at the age of 17 he's going to be stealing/destroying my car, and I don't approve of that either.

2) Teen sex.
I see nothing wrong with sex at all.

3) Teen pregnancy.
See Abortion

4) Gay marriage.
I support gay marriage because it pisses off Christians.

But seriously, I generally don't approve of any kind of (including heterosexual) marriage on the grounds that it's only something that benefits the female side of the relationship. In most cases we observe that the courts screw the man and lavish great benefits upon the woman. I thing gay marriage is a great thing in this respect as it would force them to set up objective standards by which to judge divorce cases, and maybe even benefit heterosexual men in divorce court.

5) Sexual preference.
I'm a Peabody Pirate.

4) Suicide.
Natural selection at work, I suppose. The weak are just removing their inferior genes from the gene pool. If they don't have time to reproduce before doing this, all the better.

Actually, though, I tend to cherish life (though I don't like to admit it [my objectivist nature coming out]). I tend to view it as morally grotesque to have the desire to end your own existence. I have no respect for such people, nor do I value their existences at all. If they can not appreciate the life they have, they clearly don't deserve the gift of existence. As an atheist, I also view suicide as appalling. It's an insulting slap in the face that someone would want to wake up one morning never want to see tomorrow. Life is far too short, and death is forever. Forever of non-existence, never seeing tomorrow. It's horrifying, and those who readily embrace such horror are clearly unfit.

5) Self-harm.
Attention whores, all of them, the entire f-ing lot. They are the embodiment of human mediocrity. They can't do anything extraordinary or useful to gain attention, so they abuse themselves to get that attention. I've never met one cutter/burner who wasn't an attention whore. I refuse to buy the story that it's a way of releasing one's inner torment and pain. Lets look at it this way, if I were severely depressed, and decided to cut myself, I'd just be a depressed dude with a cut arm and people telling me not to cut myself. It's ridiculous.

6) Love.
I'm a member of the Anti-Love Guild. I refuse to support any love in any way shape or form, except for the love of one's own self and family. I also support the kind of love that one gets from tremendous appreciation of something. Like I love the 'human spirit' because I see the kind of great things that people can accomplish. Look at any of our great cities, pieces of art, books, and science. All of these things were and are accomplished by the will of the greatness of the human spirit. That is the kind of love that I approve of. But to centralize one's happiness outside of himself in the form of another person is ridiculous, and can only lead to pain, grief, depression and suffering.

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
I love my mind way too much to engage in such ridiculousity. I think that if I can't get a kick out of living while I'm fully able to think then I don't have the right to live. I don't understand the joy people get from impairing their own judgment and destroying their minds. Although I do tend to approve of them doing it. I've cynically stated that the more that people do drugs, the more people there are that are removed from the job market. But in all reality, I think we should fully legalize. I mean, people who want drugs will get them anyway. People who don't want drugs won't do them anyway. People in the gray area may be pushed one way or the other. As a Libertarian I can't ignore the economic benefit of such a move, as well.

9) Religion.
I really do despise religion. I feel that it works to destroy the one thing that human's have going for them: the ability to think in a rational manner. There is no proof of God. Christians tell you to take it on 'faith.' Faith only works when reason and rationality fail. Therefore we must note that the only tools that human's have to survive are taken away from us by religion, and we're given a fully worthless tool in exchange. Faith. Something that is of zero value what so ever. Nobody has any proof that faith is a valid way of determining the truth. If I were to say that the best way to determine the truth of a situation was to flip a coin people would laugh at me. But when people say they have faith, they get respect, respect for gaining knowledge through a more dubious manner than flipping a coin. Christianity is also morally bankrupt, and most of those who follow the Christian faiths are hypocrites who find themselves unable to live up to the morality which they expect from others, and take upon themselves. How many Christian boys and girls have teen sex? Get STD's? Get pregnant? Before marriage? How many do drugs and drink liquor? How many get piercings? They mock their own religion with their own existence, and yet somehow claim to be faithful to it. I hate such people.

I am Sensedog, though many people around LI and Gaia in general refer to me as "Sense". I have been with the Life Issues forum since it was first created and try to do what I can in the way of helping people when I have the time to.

As for what I believe...

1.) Abortion-Pro-choice. No exceptions. End of story. If a woman wants to have an abortion, then she has every right to do so, and nobody should be able to force their own beliefs on the matter on her.

2.) Teen sex-Strongly against it. Honestly, it wouldn't kill many of these kids to wait until they are at least of legal age before they do anything, since at least by then many of them are more prepared to deal with the results of their actions. Believe me, if there was a proven way to keep them from having sex before then, I would support it completely. But as it is, there is not.

3.) Teen pregnancy-My above answers to abortion and teen sex should give you an idea of how I feel about teen pregnancy. The sad part is that many of the teenagers who become pregnant are pro-life and end-up either giving birth to the child or dying in the process. I find it odd that many of their beliefs allow them to sleep around at that age but do not allow abortion.

4.) Gay marriage-I see no legitimate reason to be against it, nor any legitimate reason to be against homosexuality in general. It isn't my thing, but if they want to marry then what right do I or anyone else have to try and stop them?

5.) Sexual preference-Personally straight, but I have nothing against those of different sexualities at all. Let people be themselves.

6.) Suicide-I believe that while many people may think that this is their only option depending upon their own individual circumstances, there is always another, better way out. The trick is to find it and use it. Ending your own life is only going to hurt those who are close to you, even if you believe that they wouldn't care about you for one reason or another. However, I also believe that those who commit suicide should not be considered "weak" or "selfish", because honestly I think that it would in fact take a lot of guts to do that much damage to yourself. But really, if you need help, ask for it. There are people out there who are willing to listen and help you as best they can. Another good option would be to find a better coping mechanism, or add to the ones that you already have.

7.) Self-harm-Been there, done that, and have no intention of going back to it again. It really only relieves the pain temporarily and it doesn't solve your problems when you do it.

8.) Love-It hurts like hell when you lose it, and yet can be heaven when you have it. That about sums it up. It is an emotion that you have to feel for yourself in order to understand. Many teens today throw the term around too often and weaken it's meaning to nothing more than a passing crush, though I cannot blame them for the most part; Many of them are just too young to tell the difference.

I know, I know. I am the founder of the Gaian Anti-Love Guild, but I am not against love now as you might think that I am. I've changed due to certain events.

9.) Drugs and Alcohol-I drink on rare occasion and am far from what you would consider to be an alcholic. That said, I believe that drinking in moderation is perfectly alright as long as you are careful and know your tolerance, limits, ect, and are of legal age. Though I can understand if someone who is 18+ wants to try a drink now and then out of curiosity.
However, illegal narcotics will only hurt you in the long run and should be avoided whenever possible. Considering the legal trouble that you might find yourself in if your habits are discovered, voluntary rehabilitation might be a good idea if you happen to be a drug user. If you do not believe so, consider the alternatives.

10.) Religion-I belong to no organized religion myself and I personally believe that people should be allowed to worship as they please provided that they never take their religion and try to legislate it. I also have many issues with the Catholic Church and find a great deal of their ideology to be hypocritical. That said, religion should only be accepted by those who want it and should never be forced onto those who do not.

My original username was A Cappella. Nothing special. I was in a.. thread of.. some kind, I don't remember or care in the slightest anymore, and BAMF. LCSI was born.

I'm fifteen and a half, I live in Utah, and I'm in GD more than LI now-a-days.

1) Abortion.
My little sister should have been aborted, she was an accident, I am sad that my parents didn't abort her. confused
But really, I think abortion is good. Laurel is teh Pro-Choice
2) Teen sex.
If you to, go ahead, just for the love of god don't get pregnant, to quote Sense, "We don't need stupid kids having more stupid kids"
3) Teen pregnancy.
Teenage girls need an "abort" button on them somewhere. xd
Unless there is some reason why the girl should be pregnant as a teenager, then it's stupid.
4) Gay marriage.
Fine with me.
5) Sexual preference.
I don't care WHO or WHAT you like. That's your business. Personally I like guys...
4) Suicide.
Stupid

Mine's short and sweet.

1) Abortion.
Makes me sick, I wouldn't do it.
2) Teen sex.
Be responsible, be ready for anything. I'm not against it. I take part in it.
3) Teen pregnancy.
Goddamnit, don't get pregnant. I've had my cousin get 2 different girls pregnant, he's 21, no drivers liscense, just graduated highschool, and can barely hold a job. Its no good for males or females.
4) Gay marriage.
Okay, the only drawback I find to this is, if we let gay people get married, whose to say the ***** and people who want nine wives wont step up for thier rights?
I don't care if you are gay, but I'm not going out of my way to say how cool you are, and I'm not going out of my way to be rude to you. I don't care what your sexuality is, mmkay?
5) Sexual preference.
I'm straight myself, I don't care if you are gay, but I'm not going out of my way to say how cool you are, and I'm not going out of my way to be rude to you. I don't care what your sexuality is, mmkay? Now, bisexuality is BS in my world.
4) Suicide.
Used to want to die, now I think its stupid. Only the person with those feelings can fix them.
5) Self-harm.
If you have a problem, that's nice but hurting yourself wont help.
6) Love.
Is lovely.
7) Drugs and Alcohol.
Drugs make you stupid, and alcohol tastes/smells really bad. Don't drink and drive, and if you complain about becomming addicted to drugs, I'll laugh at you.
9) Religion.
I don't care what religion you are, at all.
I hate it when people bash catholics, we aren't "bible thumpin' hicks", okay? I went/still go to catholic schools, I've read the bible and things such as the Just War Theory.
Not all catholics are hypocrites, in fact, islamic, jewish, agnostic, mormon and even athiest people can by hypocrites, don't blame the freaking catholic church.

PS: The Pope is not a Nazi. Don't even start that s**t.

I use too many commas when typing. Trying not to. I'm an artist, my name is Cienna, but everyone online and IRL calls me Sena. I'll be 16 in about a week. I'm a junior in highschool.

That's it.

1) Abortion.
I am all for a persons choice on the matter. If you want an abortion, go for it, if you don't, then don't have one. I don't see why the government should have any say it what you do or don't do in this situation.

2) Teen sex.
Myself, I would rather wait for somone I care about and love, age doesn't matter. Just going around and doing it for fun, that isn't very smart, but you can't stop people from doing what they are going to do.

3) Teen pregnancy.
Don't get pregnet if your a teen, it isn't smart. I haven't seen any good arguement otherwise. I don't think its right or wrong, I just think it is a bad idea.

4) Gay marriage.
How could I be against it? There is nothing to be against.

5) Sexual preference.
Go for it, nobody can control who they feel attracted to.

4) Suicide.

I see why some people do it, but it is not a good thing. There is no reason to kill yourself unless your in some crazy situation. Such as you are in Iraq, wounded, and 3 guys are running up to you with AK-47's, all you have is 1 grenade. You can either die by them, or take them with you. If you wanted to kill yourself like that, sure, what the hell. "I feel sad today, im gonna go hang myself" isn't a good reason.

5) Self-harm.
Whatever floats your boat I guess.

6) Love.
Loves great.

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
Be smart about it, and I don't care.

9) Religion.
I'm not into it, but thats me.

I can't be online much anymore, so I'll put a short introduction here and give my opinions on the topics later.

My name is Michella and I'm a student. I'll be a Freshman this year in highschool and start in 2 weeks.

I live in Oregon, the weather is alright right now and I'm on the coast. It's nice to see the beach.

My birthday is November 11th, and I love cats. I have a lot of pets--a cat (a few ran away, I think Nikolita has seen my black kitty=) ), a hampster, a snake, fish, and two dogs.

That's about all for now.

Edit:

Abortion--a persons choice. It shouldn't be anybody else who makes the decision. A women should do what she wants with her body, abortion won't harm her in any way and will help her in certain situations. It shouldn't be abused though, as in somebody who doesn't use protection and says "If I get pregnant, I'll just get an abortion!"

Teen sex. Something that can't be prevented. It's up to the teen on what they want to do, but a lot don't know what they want and don't care. We can continue to inform about the risks and proper protection.

Teen pregnancy. Not something I want to go through. I don't think any teen should have to go through taking care of a baby at a young age, yet some are stupid enough to think they want it.

Gay marriage. It doesn't matter if Bush, anybody in politics, or anybody who votes thinks about this. Whatever they believe shouldn't be inflicted on everybody, I thought America was supposed to be better then that. We can continue to fight, eventually we'll have the rights. I'm glad homosexuality isn't as badly viewed as in some other countries were you have to hide or been killed because of it. Though it is disappointing that I'll have to go to a foreign country if I want to marry a girlfriend of mine..

Suicide. Well, you can't stop somebody from doing it. If a person talks about killing themselves though, somebody should get help for them. There are probably ones who have killed themselves in that past who would have gotten better and live a happy fulfilled life. It's a persons choice, but their it's viewed from a wrong perspective.

Love exists, but disgusts me when I hear girls say "Omg I love so much!" and break up with them next week. Kinda funny though. When I see old couples that have been together for 40+ years, that's when I think of true love. There's many kinds of love though, like what you feel for friends, family, pets, and puppy love.

Drugs and Alcohol. Shouldn't be done much. I understand if you drink sometimes, like if you have a get together with your friends and go to the bar, but before hand you should plan everything. Like who's driving, and somebody who isn't drunk to be there and make sure you don't loose your head. The same goes for drugs--the only drug I think is alright is pot, maybe I'm saying that because there's thousands of dolor’s worth of it in my house (medical reasons...did I just say that? Hmm. Hope nobody stalks me). I walk past it, smell it, and see it everyday. Fresh pot plants, two rooms of it with my bedroom right in the middle. And I haven't even thought of smoking it. I just don't feel like it *shrugs*

I'm getting off topic now...pot is alright if you do it sometimes, but only a little and plan things out like if you were drinking. ><

Religion. Everybody should know what they believe and what is right to them. That doesn't mean they have to join a religion. I'm not Christian, Jewish, Catholic, or anything right now. I know what's true to me though, and maybe I'll choose something later in life.

I wouldn't want to see the world without religion though...we need people who are sure about what will happen in the future, people who know were they stand spiritually. It makes the world stronger and keeps hope. But it also brings a lot of closed-minded people and sometimes unfairness.

So.... I'm Chalda! Be amazed! Or not... the screen name doesn't have much of a story. My normal screen names were taken on MSN so I asked my fiance to come up with something. He came up with Chalda and ta da! Now onto the meaty stuff!

1) Abortion.
Pro-choice for others. Still undecided as to whether I would have the procedure or not if I were to get pregnant.

2) Teen sex.
Most of the time it's stupid. If you are in a loving committed relationship and are using proper protection each and every time then it's fine but most teens these days don't seem to understand the consequences of STDs or pregnancy.

3) Teen pregnancy.
Nearly always a bad thing. Some can deal with it and make it into a good situation with love and support from other people but most can't.

4) Gay marriage.
I'm all for it. I think it would be much easier if all marriages were 'civil unions' in the eyes of the law. That way people can have any sort of ceremony they want but still have the same rights in the eyes of the law.

5) Sexual preference.
I have a theory about this. I don't believe sexuality is as clearly cut as 'straight' or 'gay'. I believe it is all sort of shades of grey. You can be 'a little bit' of anything. I think the labels we put on it are silly. Love who you want how you want and be happy.

4) Suicide.
The result of too much pain and an inability to cope. Everyone thinks about it every once in a while but when you start planning get some help.

5) Self-harm.
Just an outlet for pain they don't know how to deal with any other way. You can deal with it separately but it won't stop until the issues behind it are dealt with. And it doesn't help deal with them so it's not doing you any good.

6) Love.
Is usually only understood by someone who is feeling it at the time.

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
Illegal=bad therefore drugs=bad and under aged alcohol=bad. If you want to drink when it's legal just don't drive or hurt others with it.

9) Religion.
Generally unsupported. The fact that it often has guidelines that I do not believe to be true makes it hard to support. I believe in personal values and the law. If you can make yourself happy within those two then that is all that is important.

Other things you might want to know about Chalda if you wish to PM her:
-I'm 21
-I'm engaged to be married Dec 31, 2005
-We have been together 5 years in October
-We have been sexually active for 4 years on our wedding day
-I was a life issues regular about 6 months ago I think
-I'm happy to help with anything you wish to ask and will keep your confidentiality

I am a 20-year-old male. My screen name is my favorite character in Castlevania III. The quote in my sig, "What a horrible night to have a curse", comes from Castlevania II. It seemed like an appropriate quote because I tend to become depressed at night.

Anyways...

1) Abortion.
I think they should be legal, but that there should be very strict laws, its a very delicate situation.

2) Teen sex.
If they must...

3) Teen pregnancy.
I'm not really sure what to say. That's the danger of having sex early, I suppose

4) Gay marriage.
I don't see why only certain people should be allowed to marry. Its a tricky subject, though, with many points of view. I don't see why marriage should have certain requirements.

5) Sexual preference.
I didn't choose who I fell in love with, so I assume its the same way with at least some other people.

4) Suicide.
I once considered commiting suicide. My reasons were kind of silly, but I seriously considered it. I think that people who consider suicide should at least try talking to a therapist. Perhaps they can still find happiness in life.

5) Self-harm.
I think that it is a pretty strong indication that the person in question needs to see a psychologist

6) Love.
It has proved less than pleasent for me. But many people have found true happiness with it. Feeling the pain of lost love is better than feeling nothing at all, I suppose, though I would not choose either. At least it has gotten rid of that feeling of apathy which I dread.

7) Drugs and Alcohol.
I don't touch any of 'em. When used in moderation, it seems that they can bring pleasure, but if overused they just seem to cause pain

9) Religion.
I'm Unitarian Universalist. I have nothing against other religions, except when they try to force their beliefs on others (this goes for atheism, too. I can't stand when people insist that all religion is bad).

Hi, this is my mule, but for all purposes it is my new main account. You can call me Tom, or MJ, or Stance or something. My screenname DOESN'T come from the lyrics of 'I'm Black and I'm Proud' though someone has asked me that.

1: Abortion - I think abortion should be legal to an extent. "A woman should have the right to do what she wants with her body" and all that jazz, but I think multiple abortions by the same woman should be avoided. After a certain number perhaps remove her ability to make babies. *shrugs*

2: Teen Sex - I think if teens want to have sex, please use a condom or possibly even the pill, if you can. Even teenagers should be allowed what they want, just please don't add any more babies to the world. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

3: Teen Pregnancy - Worst mistake someone could make that early in life, I think. I've yet to meet a teenager who got pregnant, was able to support their baby AND was happy. You're probably sacrificing any future you have. Try and get an abortion.

4: Gay Marriage - Why the hell not? Seriously. A man should be allowed to marry a man and a woman should be allowed to marry a woman. I think most of the anti-gay mentality is motivated by weak morals.

5: Sexual Preference - It's influenced heavily by your early childhood and your first sexual experiences, I think. They imprint on to what you're attracted to. After a certain point, I don't think it can be changed. I don't think anyone is 100% of any orientation, though.

4 (again?): Suicide - If someone wants to die, it is their right, but I really believe they need a strong reason for it. I think that therapy might help most people cope with whatever problems they're facing that are bad enough to consider ending the splendor of life.

5: Self-Harm - I think it's mostly about attention and mis-communication. People who hurt themselves often want the specific attention of a person or several people and can't ask directly. I don't think it's wrong, though. It's your body.

6: Love - Exists on all levels. A man can love an animal. An animal cannot love him back. The same goes for inanimate nouns and even the dead. It's possible to love anyone or anything, but the reciprocation of this love is what really matters, to me.

7: Drugs And Alcohol - In small amounts, why not? Be safe. Doing drugs to get numb = bad. Seek help.

9: Religion - Not for me, but it helps some. I'm really tired and my opinions are becoming weaker and slurred. I might come back to this.
