Could insanity be considered a type of alternate lifestyle?

Because I almost succeeded in killing myself and spent time in a psychiatric facility I'm considered legally insane. I guess being crazy could be a lifestyle because your not just crazy you are into harming yourself or you like different things. Your insanity is what makes you different. I dunno. I don't let one word label me.
