On the wikipedia for torchwood, under the section for alien gadgets, the Torchwood computer is listed as being ALIVE!

Yep, no longer is the Tardis the only living piece of TEchnology, although some items from the older generation of Doctor Who featured living beings in some sort of technology.

Quote:
Organic computer
Referred to as such only on the Torchwood website, the computer used in the Hub is in fact alive. According to the website, the computer "is as old as Torchwood itself — a piece of organic, living, intuitive technology light years ahead of anything on Earth. It salvaged what it could, and continues at the heart of our work today." The computer managed to salvage information from the fall of Torchwood One, and is capable of incredible intuitive feats such as individual tracking, weather monitoring, GPS-navigation and the detection of all things extraterrestrial.[15] The computer has been visible several times on the series, where it is shown (as it seen on the Adobe Flash version of the website) to be a pulsating, blue mass with many tentacles networking various pieces of information. In They Keep Killing Suzie, it is established that the computer's membrane can still recognise commands even without power.

Discuss this ... thing!

Also, related things, taken from the wiki biggrin

Quote:
Giant brain
A creation of the Rani in Time and the Rani, it was linked to the minds of several geniuses, such as Albert Einstein, Louis Pasteur and Pierre Curie.

Quote:
Tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator
An interstellar transportation platform that utilises massive energy to create a force bubble that protects the rider while riding the shockwave to its destination — in short, a "pan-dimensional surfboard". It was introduced in Boom Town and thereafter used to create a force field, first around the TARDIS and later the Game Station, in The Parting of the Ways.
- Because I like the name XD And JAck might have it still biggrin

That's very strange. I never thought it might be living.

One other thing: OMG! You have the pencil toppers from the Doctor Who advent calendar in your siggy!! Do you have it? I've been acting out scenes from the series one finale all day with them xd

It certainly looks organic...those blue twisty things in the background on the interface look like they're parts of a living organism.

The BBC always has too have flashy, state-of-the-art computers, then claims they are 'organic'.

But if it's ment to be alive, that's pretty cool. I suppose it does have a lot of wires.
