Zarkis shivered in cold as he saw on a bench in the park, looking at the many children playing with the snow. The vague shape of the body of a snowman is slowly forming, but Zarkis was too cold to help out. Twitching, the boy gave a sneeze straight after.
The snow was pretty when it fell, covering everything in a blanket of white. However, it made him so cold... He had been having the flu for about a week now, and there was still no improvement in his condition.
Splat! A handful of freezing cold snow made its way onto Zarkis' face, and he let out a loud, "Eek!" from the sheer temperature of the snow and the shock of it. Sweeping away the cold snow from his face, Zarkis pouted at his brother who was seated beside him.
"Alucard... What were you thinking?"
The infant let out a giggle, before covering his mouth and letting the giggle turn into laughter. His older brother's expression when the snow had hit him was priceless! That was what he get for ignoring him... Alucard was getting bored from just sitting there.

(What, no Sesshomaru? xD)
"It's all so pretty."
The soft voice of one small figure echoed farther than normal, her group tramping through the snow in the usual assortment of thick coats, scarves, hats and mittens. They seemed to be led by a tall brunette girl in a long red cloak. Green eyes turned back to the child, and a smile graced regal features. "Yes, Valentine, it is."
"Makes lots of difference when we're not runnin' 'round through it for somebody." A slightly larger boy, his face uncovered by a hood, grinned and kicked at a lump of snow. Beside him, another boy with the same golden eyes and dark hair as Valentine nodded vigorously. "Does that mean we can play in it, Morgan?"
"Yes." The taller girl's smile widened. Beside her, another girl with short blonde hair, blue eyes and an easy grin tugged her little brother's scarf a little tighter 'round his neck. "Be careful not to hurt anybody." She admonished gently. "Motoko, do you have your plugs covered?"
The last member of the group, another little girl, nodded and beamed. Her long purple ponytail bobbed. "All closed up, Marian." She assured. "Will you watch?"
Morgan and Marian grinned at each other. "We'll watch from over here." Morgan agreed, sitting carefully on the bench on the opposite side as Zarkis. "Have fun."

{He'll blend in with the snow too much. 8D;; *bricked*}
Zarkis looked at the crowd of people who had just arrived, wondering why anyone would want to be out in this cold for... Then he realised that he was out in the cold as well. All because he thought it would be nice to see the pretty white snow up close.
Alucard didn't hesitate to give a wave to the newcomers. A wave always attracts attention from everyone else, and it'll give him an excuse to play in the snow. He could feel his legs turning to ice from being still for too long. If he starts moving around, maybe it won't feel as cold.
"Hey... Alucard." Zarkis blinked, "You're only a baby. Wha if you get frozen out there? It's really cold!"
The infant looked up with slightly irritttated eyes. If he could talk back, he would certainly had done so... After all, the baby was not the one sneezing and shivering in this weather. Ignoring what Zarkis had said, he looked at the newcomers with almost hopeful eyes.
The hopeful 'help me out of my boredom' eyes.

(*snicker*)
Morgan grinned faintly, amused by the boy settled in the snow and what was apparently his brother. "Hello." She glanced at the little infant and smiled as Marian leaned over and picked him up. "Hello, little one. You shouldn't be sitting in the snow. You could freeze up."
The dark-haired little boy snickered. "Maybe he could just play with us." The child offered, glancing up at Zarkis as though to ask permission. Like Alucard, his eyes were gold, but they were shy and fairly sweet. "Are you his big brother?"

"Yes... Yes, I am..." Zarkis answered with a slight shiver, offering the other boy a smile. Pausing, he looked from one new face to the other, "I'm Zarkis, and he's Alucard. I was afraid that he might catch a cold if he plays in the snow..."
Alucard grinned happily when he was picked up. Free of his boring brother at last! The child was playing with the scarf wrapped around his neck when he heard his older brother's reply. Turning to face him with a look that could kill - for baby standards anyway - Alucard started squirming in the female's arms.
"Alucard..." Zarkis sighed, wondering why he was the only person in the household that the baby wouldn't listen to. "You might get... Get... Achoo!" Zarkis covered his nose and mouth just as he sneezed. Looking up, he started to blush slightly.
"Excuse me..."

"And you're sick." Morgan noted dryly. Head tilting to one side, she studied the boy for a moment, then nodded. "Marian, the kids can go play if you'd like to watch the little one. I need some barrow root." Her voice, though young and polite enough, could have belonged to a duchess or queen; clearly, she brooked no argument.
The blonde's lips twitched, and she nodded back to her sister, shifting Alucard easily to one hip so she could search through a pouch at her hip. "You might introduce yourself, Morgan." She admonished gently. Handing the brunette a pair of round, mealy-looking balls about the size of quarters, she turned her smile to Zarkis. "I'm Marian, and this is my sister Morgan. These are Valentine," the dark-haired girl, "her twin Alexander," the dark-haired boy, "Arthur," the other boy, with spiky brown hair and intense green eyes, "and Motoko." The purple-ponytailed girl, with eyes that matched. "They're our brothers and sisters."
"They'll take care of Alucard." Morgan's tone was still regal, but it had softened a touch. Briskly, she spread the blanket that had been draped over her arm across Zarkis' shoulders. "You need to warm up, and then you'll eat these."

"But... But..." Zarkis looked at the one named Morgan, and slowly nodded. The tone of her voice sounded familiar... Like when adults really meant what they're saying. A situation where the word 'but' will not work at all. "Okay... Bu- I meant, what's that?"
He kept quiet again, before his eyes widened, "You have a lot of siblings!"
"Yay!" Alucard gave a cheer as he went back to playing with the scarf just when Marian introduced everyone. One for him, nil for Zarkis! He looked to the children, wondering what they might be going to do. Anything has got to be much more fun than just sitting around.

"Barrow root - treated with herbs from our Aunt's garden." Morgan explained, settling herself gracefully on the bench beside him as Marian moved the kids a bit farther out. "It's enchanted, like the blanket. But for healing, not heat." A faint smile touched her face. "Sometimes it's nice having healers in the family. And you have no idea - that's not even half our siblings."
Alexander grinned up at Alucard in his sister's arms, pleased. "Can ya walk, Al-u-card?" The child patiently sounded out the name, his accent slightly siblant but understandable. "We could throw snowballs. Or build a snow fort!"

Zarkis nodded with a awed look on his face. A heating blanket, healing herbs... Healers too? He smiled in return, holding the blanket closer to himself. It does keep out the cold, and he felt much better with the warmth.
"It is... Bitter?" He frowned a little, knowing that medicines can get really bitter. Most of the ones he had eaten tasted so bitter that he felt like throwing them up right away. More often than not, he had to eat a candy after eating medicine.
"Walk?" Alucard echoed, blinking as he tried to recall where he had heard that word from. A moment later, his face brightened up as he gave several nods. He learned how to walk a few weeks ago, although he fell down more times than the number of steps he took. "Yes walk!"

Morgan laughed, pleased. She liked this kid, with his odd mix of polite curiousity and easygoing manner. "No - Aunt Ri flavors hers. They taste kind of like peanuts." Yeah, she knew how bitter some of medicine could be. "I've had to take them myself a few times for sniffles. That's why Marian and I usually carry some. But I've got a peppermint in my bag if you want it."
"Okay, Alucard." Gently, Marian settled the little boy in a clear patch of snow with a blanket under him, laughing lightly. "How 'bout Alex and Arthur show you how to make the perfect snowball? And you can come back here if you get too cold."

"Tasting like peanuts is okay," Zarkis replied with a smile, fingering the edges of the blanket. He shook his head quickly in reply to the question, "As long as they don't taste bitter, here's no need for peppermints."
Too cold? Him? Never! Alucard nodded, sitting down to watch the older children. He had seen some of his older siblings playing with snow. 'Snowball' must be the thing they use to throw at each other. A ball that's made up of snow.

Nodding in approval, Morgan handed Zarkis the two balls. They felt a bit like dough, slightly crumbly, but compact enough. "You do have to chew - kinda fishy texture, if you can believe that. Aunt Ri says it's the different magics mixed in. But they work quick, and that's the best part."
"Okay, first, we need to gather up some snow." Arthur knelt across from Alucard and showed him, scooping the white powder up with gloved hands. "Once you have a handful, you crunch it 'tween your hands. Like this. That makes it stay together better."

Zarkis looked at the two balls in his hands, then turned to look at Morgan for a moment before turning to look at the medicine again. Hesitating for a brief second, he popped the two into his mouth at once, and started chewing on them slowly.
After swallowing them, he turned to Morgan with a slight blush, as if sorry for being hesitant about taking the medicine given to him. Giving a smile, Zarkis giggled, "It does... Taste like peanuts... How long does it take of it to start working?"
Alucard looked at the older children, studying what they're doing. He nodded as he tried to follow Arthur's words, but gave up and followed his actions instead. Nodding again, he crawled to sit down beside Arthur, and scooped up some snow in his gloved hands.
"No work!" He frowned, watching the snow that he was trying to compact together fall apart.

Morgan glanced at Zarkis critically for a moment, apparently not noticing or caring about the hesitation, then nodded with a satisfied smile. "I'm thinkin' they're working already." She drawled. "You're nowhere near as pale as you were. Nose feel any better?"
Meanwhile, Arthur frowned slightly, pushing his own ball together wit a bit more success. "Takes practice." He informed the infant after a moment. "And you have to start small, so you can fit it in your palms and wrap your whole hand around it."

"Really?" Zarkis asked, wiggling his nose. Using a hand to stroke his left ear, that still felt cold somehow, he broke into a smile. His nose did feel a little better than just now. A while ago he couldn't even breathe through it, but now he can.
"I do feel a little better!"
Alucard nodded as he tried again. Gathering a small pile of snow in front of him, he scooped the pile onto his palm and started clumping them together to form a ball. Most of the snow escaped through the spaces between his fingers as he was doing the compacting, but he managed to make a snowball.
Or rather, a weirdly shaped snowball that was about one third of the size of Arthur's snowball. He held it up proudly, and smiled triumphantly.
