Donat knocked on the door to Oliver's house, and turned away from it to glance around the yard. It had been a while since he had come here last. He had gotten bigger, and Olly probably had, too.
Oh well, it would be fun! He would be away from Arlyn and Serif, but he would be able to play with Olly instead! For three days, like his dad said. Jittering with excitement at the prospect of spending all that time with a good friend, the goat adjusted his hold on his pillow and rolled up blanket, and squirmed under the weight of his overnight bag on his back.
Three days sure needed a lot of stuff.
Grinning, he knocked on the door again and strained on his tip toes to try to peek in through the peep-hole. The sooner he could see Olly, the more time they had to play tag and stuff!

The door opened shortly after the second knock, and Kami smiled down as she opened the screen. "Hello there! We've been expecting you, come on in." she said, opening the door for the little boy. He was such a cute little thing, she thought, and it was adorable that Olly was having his first sleepover. It was just about the only thing the little camel boy had been talking about for the past few days. "Olly should be down soon, he's just tidying up his room upstairs," she said, glancing toward the hall. "Olly! Your guest is here!" she said in a bit of a singsong voice, smiling as footsteps sounded from upstairs.
Olly turned the corner and smiled brightly at the sight of his old friend. It'd seemed like forever since they'd first played together, and even though he hadn't gotten to know the little goat too closely, he still considered him a friend. "Donat, you're finally here!" he laughed, and practically bounded through the hall to stop before his companion. "How've you been? Let's go upstairs so you can put your stuff away, then maybe we can play!" he said, looking up at his mother, then back at Donat with an eager smile.

Donat eagerly stepped into the house when Kami opened the door for him, and looked around for his friend. He nodded at the assurance that Olly would be there in a moment, and hopped from foot to foot where he stood in anticipation.
"Hiyas!" the goat said with a wave of greeting as Olly appeared. "I've been great! So much has happened since I last saw you. I have like a gazillion stories to tell. We can stay up all night and catch up!"
He leaned down to grab his pillow off the floor again, and nodded for Oliver to lead the way up to his room.

Oliver smiled, and nodded his head vigorously, his messy hair bobbing lightly, offering to care some of his friend's stuff. "Yeah, me too! Lots has happened!" he said, and practically dashed off down the hall, knowing Donat would follow. A lot sure had changed with the boy, the biggest change being the dragon that was now his constant companion.
He opened the door to his room, and smiled at the site of the brownish myrmling snoozing on his bed. "Hey, Trace, wake up! You get to meet someone new today." he said, opening the door for Donat to follow in.
The dragon flipped back onto his belly, and yawned big, blinking and sliding off the bed to rub up against his boy, before looking to the door as a new person's scent reached his reptillian nostrils. Someone new, indeed! He held back, not wanting to seem rude by jumping up and startling whoever was coming.

Donat half-handed and half-dropped his blanket and pillow to Oliver. Then he ran after his friend and into the room with the dragon.
The goat's face promptly lit up like a Christmas tree when he caught sight of the reptilian creature. Dropping his backpack on the carpet just beside the doorway, he approached the dragon with barely-restrained excitement and curiosity.
"His name's Trace?" he asked of Oliver as he crouched and held a hand out to the dragon. The thought that he could get his fingers bitten apparently never crossed Donat's mind.

"Yup, that's his name!" Oliver said, rather proud of the dragon, and even more so over the fact that he hadn't pounced on Donat. It had taken a while to keep him from doing that to strangers. "He's really nice, and he loves to talk. So if you wonder why he makes all the funny sounds, that's why." Oliver said with a giggle, and sat down.
Trace chirred, seeming just as curious as he observed the stranger, with his dark fur and most noticable blue eyes. Satisfied that it was okay, he approached Donat, letting out little growls and chirrups as he sniffed a little at the hand that was offered, before pushing his head against it, chirring softly and watching the boy. Never before had any of his boy's friends come to their own home(that he could remember), but this one seemed good. If Olly liked him, then he would too.

Donat's eyes widened and he whirled around to look back at Oliver. "He talks?"
Then he turned to the dragon again. "You talk?" A grin broke out across his face as he rubbed the dragon's nose. "I'm Donat. Nice to meet you, Trace. When I get a dragon of my own, you'll have to come to my house with Oliver so you can meet him."
The goat-boy plopped down on the floor so he would not be standing over the dragon, and could get a better look at him. It made him all the more excited about getting his own. Oliver was lucky, getting his first.
"What do you wanna do while I'm here?" he asked after a moment, grinning back at his friend. "I brought a few movies, if you wanna watch those later."

Oliver laughed. "Well, yes...but not english. Not yet, but we're working on it. Huh?" he asked the dragon, rubbing the long brownish neck.
Trace chirped, and pressed his head up into the youngster's hand, enjoying the pets and attention. He scooted closer to the boy as he sat down, seeming to look him over a bit better as well, even sniffing lightly at his horns.
"Have you gone to see yours yet?" Olly asked, smiling a little, "Did they tell you what kind you're gonna get yet?"
He sat down as well, continuing to pet the leathery skin of his friend. "I'm not sure. We can go outside all we want, pretty much...and yeah, that sounds fun! What'd ya bring?" he asked, leaning forward curiously.

"Trace is already more talkative than my baby brother already, though," Donat commented as he continued to pet the dragon. Then he addressed Trace again: "I bet you'll be talking great before my brother."
"And yeah, I saw my egg," he told Oliver. "I'm waiting to hear when it'll hatch, though. I'm so excited." The goat-boy laughed. "Sometimes the phone'll ring and I jump up, wondering if that's them telling me to come get my dragon."
He stretched his legs out in front of himself and leaned back on one hand as he moved his other hand to rub Trace under the chin. "Mine's copper, though. His egg is buried in a bunch of sand right now."
Donat then leaned forward to grab the strap of his backpack to drag it closer. He unzipped the top and rummaged around a little, pulling out a rumpled pair of jeans and a similarly wrinkled t-shirt before withdrawing a pair of DVD's.
"I got 'Aladdin' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'," he reported proudly to his friend, handing over the DVD boxes so Oliver could look at them if he wanted.

Trace purred, rather pleased with the compliment. He didn't really understand what the rush to speak english was, but Olly was constantly trying to get him to say letters, and little words. He found he couldn't quite get his tongue to cooperate, but a pat from Oliver was all he needed to keep him from becoming discouraged.
Oliver smiled. "Neat! Did you get to see what color it was?" he asked, wondering what kind of dragon his friend would receive. "I didn't get to touch Trace's egg earlier," he chuckled lightly, "his had to be warmed in a fire. I bet your dragon'll hatch real soon. It didn't feel like very long at all waiting for Trace to come." he said, remembering the day his dragon companion had been brought to their apartment so early in the morning, quite unexpectedly.
He was pulled from the memory as Donat took the movies out, and he smiled, taking up Pirates first. "I've seen this one, it's great!" he smirked lightly, before picking up the other. "I don't think I've ever seen this, though." he said, looking over the box. They had quite a few disney flicks, but that one was missing from the collection. "Looks good though! We should watch 'em tonight. Mom said we can stay up, since I don't have any classes scheduled for this week." he announced with a smirk, seeming quite pleased.
