Ok, just a thought I had while watching the movie the other day. Would the money from a guitar really be enough to buy a car? It was just a question that popped into my head and I couldn't help but post it.
Also, in the same scene, did anyone else's heart break when Joanne started crying at the end of the song? She looked so sad! It made me want to cry! crying
Anyways, just my thoughts on that scene. biggrin

I've always wondered about the car thing too. I'm not sure how much he got for the guitar or how much the car he bought was.

Depends. If it was a really nice guitar and a really crappy car, the price would seem about right. But I dunno how Roger would be able to afford a really nice guitar. Whatever.

SUPER STEPH Depends. If it was a really nice guitar and a really crappy car, the price would seem about right. But I dunno how Roger would be able to afford a really nice guitar. Whatever. Seeing as he used to make a living as a musician, and assuming he hadn't sold his usual guitar, I would say that it was a nice guitar, at least. And a crappy car is pretty much a given. So, yes, I think it's realistic.

Yeah, I never really questioned it. Guitars can get pricey (a Fender, oh niiice), and as was said, if he was a musician, I can imagine it'd have to be a decent one. I sort of thought maybe he got it when he was young from his parents or something.

Ya, it was just a thought that I had while watching it. ^.^ It seemed a little far-fetched, so i thought I'd ask. Guess it really wasn't huh?

amaranthine_seeresss I wonder if it was an expensive car? I kind of doubt it...this is Roger we're talking about. xd Plus, it is only the money from a guitar. I highly doubt that would pay for an expensive one. biggrin

Well, you also have to consider the time period we're in. Late 80s, so a crap car would be cheaper than now. Plus guitars get pricey, so everyone else has mentioned.
Although it made a lot more sense in the NYTW when they say April left the car to Roger.

Well, the car isn't expensive, and guitars can cost a ton, so I agree with what everyone's said already.

It seems to just barely make logic point. See, his guitar must've been worth a ton if he could get a car. He sold off his guitar to a pawn shop, and those tend to not give a lot of money for stuff, unless it's pretty amazing. I can see how some hard core rent fans would like to think that this instantly is logistic(or not xD Just kidding guys, no jumping on me. I have five dollarsss)... But it seems iffy with me. Considering my father owns tons of guitars and they tend to sell depending on how nice they are.
This guitar is old so it may sell for a lot, but then again. It could be worn considering Roger wasn't planning on selling it beforehand. Anyways, if it worked out in Jonathan's RENT...It ended up working! So, Roger traded a guitar for a bucket of bolts. xD
