Jimmy had begun to wonder if perhaps he'd filled out the wrong section of a form when DCorp had again called him and asked him to administer another batch of vaccinations.

It gave him a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, but...on the other hand, at least it was a chance to meet another of the potential students. And so he'd agreed and had arrived about twenty minutes ago to begin the long elevator ride up to Dcorp's medical wing.

And now here he sat, awaiting the arrival of Delta.

Delta walked with her mum up to the d-corp medical ward, she didn't want to be here. Her mum had had to force her out of the car once she knew what was going to happen. She couldn't BELIEVE that D-corp, a corporation she trusted was going to betray her trust and stick needles in her. Her mum had said that it wasn't only d-corp kids that had these 'vaccinations' done and that they would help her to not get seriously ill. But still, Delta did not like pain and this was a new thing for her. Reaching the room her mum stopped and gave her a big hug telling her that it would be ok and that she would be right outside the room waiting for her when they got out and afterwards they could go see a movie to make up for it.. Even though Delta would usually have been ecstatic about the chance to see a movie, now she just felt sick. she knocked on the door and walked in, the room looked daunting with all sorts of things Delta had never seen before and she could only imagine their purposes.

Jimmy straightened his glasses and perked up at the knock and greeted Delta with a friendly smile.

"Hi there!" he told her warmly. "You must be Delta, huh?" he could tell already that she didn't want to be here and he didn't blame her. He remembered what it was like having to get shots as a kid and imagined some things never changed.

Delta walked slowly over to the man uncontrollably shaking already. She felt terrible and she probably wasn't making the poor guy who had to give her the needles any better. He seemed nice enough and had even given her a smile and delta wanted to smile back but she felt frozen and cold and her stomach was doing back flips. "H-hi" she whispered as that was all she could really manage, then she nodded to the mans question. She wanted to snap out of her fear and just get this over with but her body wasn't cooperating. It was obvious she was terrified, her ears were back and her tail was frozen stiff.

Jimmy's brow knitted a bit with concern. Oh geez, she didn't just look uncomfortable, she looked ready to bolt if he made the slightest wrong movement. Still smiling, he patted the examination table in invitation. "You want to have a seat right up here for me, pumpkin?" Best to keep it casual. If he acted like this was some big deal, she'd treat it like it was.

For now, he made no mention of shots. She knew what she was here for, after all. He looked at his clipboard again, skimming her information summary. "Looks like you got your egg not too long ago. That must've been exciting, huh?"

She looked at the table, and gulped. Normally a table would hold such fear after all it was just a piece of furniture. but this table made her think about all the stuff that went on in this room. How many people before her had been poked and prodded with things like needles on that table. She approached it like a prisoner would approach the electric chair and carefully she scrambled up onto it. Still shaking she looked to the man, he seemed concerned. He probably thought she was a wimp. A single tear fell from delta's cheek and she quickly wiped her eyes, she didn't want to cry in front of this stranger. sniffing she tried to regain her calm, managing to stop shaking as much. "Sorry, im being such a w-wuss.." she stuttered, feeling quite hopeless. Delta nodded to the mans question "Yes, I, Have a copper dragon egg. I cant wait till it hatches.." talking about her egg helped alot, now she was able to breathe a little better, this doctor seemed a nice man.

"Copper, huh? I bet you and your dragon are going to be really good friends." he told her. "I kinda wish I could've had a dragon at your age. Maybe I wouldn't have been pushed around so much." he chuckled a bit.

"Well, Delta..." he began, still keeping his warmth. "Let me tell you a little bit about what's gonna happen here....ordinarily we'd give the vaccinations one at a time, but since you need some extras, you get something special. How about instead of a bunch of big nasty needles, we only have one little one?"

Delta managed a smile, slowly calming herself down more. "Yes, I hope so. I love my dragon egg so much already." She tried to keep thinking about her egg and only her egg so her mind didn't wander to the scary objects in the room or worse, the scary needle coming her way. Then he man started to talk about what was going to happen again and delta lost her grasp on her happy thoughts even though it was good she only got one little one instead of all the big needles she was still terrified. The thought of a sharp metal tube going into her skin made her stomach turn. Trying to maintain her composure delta nodded. Starting to shake a little again, her ears flat against her hair. Delta tried to keep really still though trying her best to just keep thinking about her egg again, if it would be a girl or boy, if it would like the names she had picked out...

He hated to bring the shots up again, but he didn't want to surprise her too badly when they actually had to get going with the reason she was here. "So how was your first visit?" he said, trying to keep the previous conversation going as he quietly uncapped the small IV needle and set it where she wouldn't have to look at it while he fussed with the rubber tube that would be attached to it. "I hear they actually let you hold the egg if you're careful, is that true?"

He'd not actually been to the incubation facilities himself yet, though DCorp had informed him one of his duties would later be to bring children to meet their eggs, so he presumed they would be showing him around soon enough.

Delta tried to keep up with the conversation but her view slowly zoned in on the needle, to her it wasn't tiny, she couldn't tear her vision away. "It was.. good" she said her mind completely off the conversation "yea you can hold your egg if its not in acid or something..." now she looked at the tube... when she had the needle she would be able to see the medicine going into her blood... that idea made her squeam. She just wanted to get it over with, then she could leave.

Well, that wasn't good...any attempt at friendly conversation seemed to be gone now that she was focusing on the matter at hand.

"I'm not a fan of needles myself, Delta, I know how it is..." he told her. "But I've had one of these before and I'd take it over a normal shot any day, I promise." He offered her another smile, still warm, though twinged with sympathy.

"When I was about your age, my neighbors had this really REALLY nasty fence." he continued as he quietly prepared the needle, covering it with a piece of medical tape both so it could be held in place once it was affixed and so she woudln't have to look at its point anymore.

"I went to climb over it one day when I came home from school and cut up my leg. Mom took me to the clinic when she got home for stitches and they said I was going to need a tetanus shot. She made it worse by saying I hadn't had my immunizations for middle school yet, they said we could get it all taken care of in one visit and...well, I really wasn't happy about it." he chuckled, tearing the foil off of a sterile wipe to dab off a small portion of her upper arm.

"I mean, you might think you're being a wuss, pumpkin, but compared to me, you're a regular Achilles The Brave. Crying, begging, you name it, I did it. I did NOT want those shots."

Delta felt a little better when the doctor man had said that he didn't like needles either. She had felt pretty stupid and that feeling hadn't been helping with her fear. As he talked about his fence incedent delta stopped watching the needle and listened to his story making pain faces when he referred to cutting his leg. "S-so im not stupid for being scared? Im actually doing kind-of well?" Delta asked, her shaking stopping and her ears perking up a little.

"You're doing super." he assured her. "You know, my mom STILL likes to talk about how I crawled into the little trash cubby under the examination table and wouldn't come out...so what they agreed to do for me was take one small needle, and just put it under my skin. They said it would just be a little pinch and then all it would do was itch while they gave me the medicine through a little tube. And you know what I thought? I thought 'Yeah right, its going to hurt. You're just saying that so I won't squirm.'"

He had a feeling she was probably thinking similar about then. People would tell kids anything these days to shut them up, and he thought it was kind of sad. "But you know, Delta? They were actually right. Just a pinch, some itching, and then sitting still for a little bit until they were done. I even took off the bandaid before we got home."

Delta bit her lip, "Just.. one little pinch and some itching? you promise?" she held out her arm, still afraid but feeling a little better. She trusted this mans word.. but if he broke it she would never forgive him. Closing her eyes tight shut she prepared herself for that one little pinch..

"Just a pinch, I promise." he assured her. He was quietly grateful she'd closed her eyes. Somehow, even if it didn't hurt, SEEING it was enough to convince your mind it was painful and make you react accordingly.

He felt her upper arm with the ball of his thumb for a minute, seeking a good place before quickly and carefully easing the IV needle where it belonged. "There we go...the worst's over." he told her, securing the tape into place. Even if she chose to look now, all she'd see was the tape on her arm and the bit of plastic tubing, but all the same, he waited for her reaction before he actually began the vaccinations.
