Pride stood regally at the top of a snowy ledge. Frown hooves pulled in together, allowing him to hold his head up high, better to see more around the meadow below. though most of his attention was on a silver Hind in the distance, with her calf. he smiled softly to himself, they where to far away to make out details. But he could tell that the Calf was hopping around his mother. Only to later fall in the snow. Pride chuckled softly, shaking his head fondly, and began to scar the aria around again, making sure it was completely safe.

Swirling mists wafted through the air, being protruded through the nostrils of a large stag whom lifted his muzzle from the cold snow covered golden grasses of the herd land. Atop his head a large rack of antlers that had only recently grown to such a size and now an adult and an Outrider, the deer felt a certain honor from being blessed as such. But how long would he keep his title? How long could he protect the herd he loved so dearly? The late summer had brought about a grand misfortune that now left the stag partially crippled. Though he could run brilliantly still, he couldn't keep it up nearly as long as he could before and he was just now entering his prime. His strength should have been at it's strongest now, but that was not so, not with his right leg injured as it was. And what about breeding...starting a family? Since his leg became sturdy enough, Valebrook had tried to practice and perfect his fighting techniques, but every little battle he started he almost instantly lost. Fighting other stags for a mate seemed almost impossible at this point, but in spite of this, the deer was optimistic. One day he would pull out of this slump, he simply new it, and when that day would come he would prove himself worthy for this herd.
As he lifted his head a dark colored stag reflected in his brown irises just beyond him atop a white ridge. Pride was his name, and though they had never officially met, Valebrook knew enough of him from his meeting with the stag's hind and little one not but the day before. How happy the stag must be. Slowly moving forward, the young Outrider limped his way up the path meeting Pride on the ledge some time after his successful attempt. Unsure of what to say, having never been the most social of deer, he stayed quiet and allowed Pride to say the first words.

Pride could hear another's presence before he could see him. Twisting his ears to face them back, getting a better idea of whom it was. Though he knew it was a fellow Stag. And from the way he was walking Pride also assumed that he was not approaching to be threatening. He could definitely make out the limp, but didn't think much off it, and did not turn to the Stag till he was standing by Pride. He glanced to the side, rising in interested brow at the younger Stag. one he recognized. A cloud of mist rose from Pride's mouth as he opened it to speak "ah, I know you” he said turning his head more to better face him. He had never spoken to him before. Nor did he know his name. But he saw him plenty of times when he would walk by the training Corp. though he was younger them. Pride was impressed with how much his antlers have grown out to. Smirking he turned his attention back to the meadow “you’re an Outrider now I see.” He said, only half interested.

Glancing down to the valley below, Valebrook watched the animated deer in their frolics. "Yes," he answered, not looking over to Pride as he spoke until the fawns below reminded him. "I met your hind the other day with your calf. Congratulations. You must be very proud of them." His words were soft and his calm voice imitated velvet. Lifting his front leg he shifted his weight onto the others, while his ears swiveled in every direction.

Pride puffed up a bit at the mention of his family. broad chest gleaming from the sun and snow. "ah, that I am" he chuckled again looking back down at Hitanie and Feanaro. he loved to hear about his family. and thought it was a bit of a pleasant surprise to be talking to someone who had recently met his new son and beautiful mate. "he will grow up to be a very powerful stag" he said grinning "just like me" he glanced back at the Stag next to him "have you found yourself a Hind yet?" he asked.

Looking to the pair below them Valebrook listened to Pride with one large ear cocked toward him before looking the older deer's way. Valebrook knew Feanaro would be strong as a corps and even more so as a stag. "I have no doubt that he will," he told Pride before looking back down to the valley below. Hearing his next statement, Valebrook became curious as well as thoughtful. Unsure if a mate would ever grace his side, he couldn't really come up with a direct answer, "I have yet to claim myself a hind."

"ah" he said. he wanted to say something encouraging. he knew that it was best for younger Stag to hear that from the older ones. though, with the limp that Valebrook had. Pride didn't know how he would find a good Hind, or fight for her. though he seemed kind, an honest. and lately the hind tended to go for that rather then strong, top choice stags. something he found rather odd. but at least it would lean to Valebrooks favor. "well give it time." he said distractedly "there are many man Hind down there." he grinned and tilted his head to the side, looking at the other Stag "as long as you don't have your eye on Hitanie. as tempting as I'm sure it is, I would not go easy on you in a spar for her"

Valebrook appreaciated his encouragment and hoped that someday he would be able to find the right hind that would accept him for what he was. But at the mention of Hitanie, he looked to Pride with simple eyes and a small smile on his muzzle. "I'm glad you said that...it let's me now she's well taken care of," he answered, not directly backing down to Pride. But he wouldn't take her from him, not when they had started a beautiful relationship already. "Our friendship is true, but it is nothing more then a friendship, Pride."

"well then" Pride said "I'm great full she has someone like you as a friend then" watching his family fondly for another moment he sighed, content, and started to slowly turn, only pausing when he was fully facing the younger Stag. "care to continue your patrol with me?" he asked,

"I would like that," he answered giving a small smile. His ears were forward and errect before he slowly turned his body to start their walk. The snow beneath his hooves was kicked up in all directions as he rotated back, hardly limping considering he was putting very little presure on the leg, and then moving forward through the snow, he moved the way he came going a slow enough pace for Pride to catch up within two seconds.

and catch up he did. Pride was definitely not a follower, and he always liked to be the leader in a situation. though that was a normal way of thinking for him, he drew up level with the other Stag, silent in his observant mode, but looking over at Valebrook just enough to notice the limp again. "what happened to you leg?" he asked after a moment his attention returning to there surroundings.

They walked slowly through the crunching white snow, kicking up the pillowy materail as they lifted their hooves. Valebrook didn't mind answering, after all he got asked the same thing many times and it was better to just explain the situation then pretend it never happened. "Well...a few months ago I fell into a human's trap. I know that sound utterly idiotic for a corps to make such a mistake, but I wasn't fully to blame," he paused for a second to look about their suroundings. "The Fallen can be cruel creatures; playing their demented tricks and enjoying every second of watching a herla suffer. A phantom by the name of Lust lurred me into a human's trap, expecting me to die, but with the help of the herd leader and our story teller I was freed."

He frowned deeply at the mention of the fallen. So young Valebrook had fallen victim to those vile creatures. That angered him, and that only paused him to walk more deliberately stepping harder then he normally would. "Abominations" he snorted, "I have met a couple of fallen as well, though escaped with no incident." he said.
The name Lust got his attention however. He had heard of her, what Stag hadn't? And he had to admit, he was curious about her. But from what he heard. The phantom is probably more interesting in making beautiful Stags like Pride into Phantoms themselves. "Its a shame to have you wounded," he said "your a promising stag"

"T-thank you sir," he commented on Pride's last statement before going back to the previous ones. "You have met with the Fallen?" he questioned looking at the older stag with intersted brown eyes. "If I may ask, how did that carry out?"
They continued to tredge forward and out of the corner of his eye, Valebrook took note of Pride's new clearly angered stride. He wondered what was on the stag's mind to make him behave this way now.

"I have" he confirmed, frowning again and jutting his chin up indigently "vile, deluded creatures. thats actually how I met Hitanie." he said, with a slight grin. "though nothing really exciting happened. just getting sight of such a disgusting breed is enough to spoil ones evening" he raised a brow looking over at the younger stag, his stride smoothing out back to normal. "if Hitanie would not have intervened, I would have been able to beat it." he added as a side note, grinning and lifting his chin up proudly
