Luna is unusual, even for her race. The Neilani race is best known for their empathic abilities. On the planet Neilan, physical strength is overlooked in favor of mental strength, and the ability to sense faint variances in emotions is extremely prized. Therefore, the fact that Luna is extremely empathic and also telepathic makes her widely respected among the Neilani who get to know her.

However, these abilities came at a steep price. She was strong to begin with, but while in the womb, a mental attack against both her and her mother forced her mind to develop abnormally in order to protect herself. Her mental strength was amplified past normal levels, but in exchange, her speech capabilities were reduced to nearly nothing.

Luna is able to vocalize just as easily as the next person, but to actually form words is a concept far past her abilities. Any words she does manage to form are often so heavily accented and forced as to be impossible to understand.

Because of this, and also due to her upbringing, she strongly identifies with a species called the Porcelain, rather than humans or Neilani. The Porcelain speak in empathic projections rather than complete sentences, and this suits her just fine. She's since adopted the mannerisms and the makeup of the Porcelain.

Personality: Since having her abilities blocked, Luna has been feeling less like a Porcelain and more like a Neilani. Love is still a concept she values highly, but she's beginning to place other virtues ahead of it. Honesty and trust, to name a few.

The absence of other voices and personalities exerting an outside influence on her has finally allowed her to grow into her own person. Her sense of humor has been developing a bit of a bite, and she finds it much easier to express displeasure without worrying about hurting feelings. She's becoming much more independent now, much to the simultaneous relief and worry of her mother.

Still, there are a few traits that have remained. Luna still prefers emotional closeness to physical intimacy, and still blanks out in order to relax.

Style of dress: Anything goes. Since having her hair cut, she's taken to wearing hair wefts of all different textures and colors, and changing them to suit her tastes for the moment. While she still likes Gothic Lolita, she's been moving toward a funkier style, with a preference to chunky accessories and vintage minidresses.

Education: At the age of three, Luna was whisked away from Gaia to Neilan. She was ushered into school immediately, getting a two-year head start on most other children due to her exceptional mental strength. After a brief break (skipping middle school), Luna went through high school through the Neilani Acadamy system, taking her classes via correspondence. And recently, she's been concurrently enrolled in Gaia University (Word bump, anyone?) and has been earning dual credit.

Where do I start with Elle? She's my first friend. I've known her all my life, and probably more than that. The feelings I have for her run very deep. Very, very deep. She's more than friend, and she's more than family to me... though I have to admit the relationship I feel I have with her and the relationship she feels she has with me may be a bit different.



I still remember when I met Ilex. He was very quiet, and very unusual. And he taught me that licking people with furry ears is not only okay, but encouraged. And a very acceptable greeting. I've had to learn to be careful who I lick these days, but Ilex is one of those I don't have to worry about. Besides, he understands my mindspeak and replies in the same way! heart



Oh my, but Merlyn is just a fuzzy bundle of fun. He's knowledgeable about the Nightmare that Jokeph keeps, and I think we have quite the bond considering I have no trouble understanding his mix of mind and mouth speech. He's a bit loud, but he means well.




What I wouldn't give for the chance to meet him again! He's an explorer, and I've got a whole world I call home that I bet he would fall over himself for the chance to explore! I've only met him once, but he seems the kind to be a good friend, you know? You know.




Ransom! heart He understands me so well, and I love that about him. Sure, he may use foul language and do things I don't approve of, but he's been nothing but sweet and understanding to me. It's so nice to be able to have an empathic conversation with someone. It's so much simpler and more information comes across than with words. And I think Ransom understands that.



Remy's such a sweetheart, and a lot of fun to be with. He never fails to make me think, though. I suppose that's just a childhood charm. Always keeping the older people on their toes. Still, despite our age difference, we've got some fairly deep conversations going. Even if I feel terrible when I end up sounding like a parent to him.
