Narayan wasn't usually left on his own in a shop with cash in his pocket. But this was a special occasion-- kind of. He was planning on making christmas presents, and what better way then to hand make something? That was his excuse, anyways. Christmas Present Shopping. And it had worked well enough in keeping JD outside the store.

And what a beautiful store it was. Out of all the little nooks, and the stalls and the gigantic malls, Narayan loved the two storey art supply shop the most. And it showed! With an expression of retardic glee stretched across face, a little basket in one hand full of new brushes and different colored paint tubes, the boy was in heaven.

What would complete it, would be a couple of the models from his new Sports Illustrated magazine. But he knew better then to ask for all that. Besides, he couldn't handle all of that at the same time. The boy was happy enough as it was.

"Ribbons." looking down at the scrawled writing on the note he held in one hand, he shifted-- the basket was getting kind of heavy now-- his grip slightly, pausing to set it down in front of him. "String. Yarn."

Yeah. All that stuff. Hopefully his rudimentary counting skills would be enough to save him from an embarressing scene later, in front of the cashier.

He'd been given a set amount of time because, well, frankly, Raven was only going to be gone for so long, and Aunt Arch didn't want to get in too much trouble. But they'd wandered from place to place-- and now they were wandering through an art store while Arch wandered through a... a shop that she wouldn't let the boy in.

Thus, Jett had found amusement in this large... strange place. And-- that was another child. Like himself. But with a trunk. Strange to meet another and another and another...

"...hello," Jett murmured in passing.

"String?" the word left his mouth before he could think and he paused, staring at the dark form. Wooow. Look at all those extra arms! And she was so pretty too!

She was a definitly a good boobie. Boobie meaning girl, of course. Except... well. Narayan speech.

"Can you do alot of things at once?" it was quite obssessive, this habit of Narayan's of checking out other peoples extra appendages. (Hopefully this wouldn't grow to be too perverted in the future...) and look at all that long hair! And so dark. Pretty.

Waving his nose at the person and then at the variety of colored string, he nodded his head. "Can you help me?"

After all, the boy had two hands and a nose. And while he was good at using his nose for some things, picking up little bundles of string was... well. Frustrating.

Jett blinked at the strange creature. "...I suppose," Jett considered the other before grabbing the aforementioned string, a ball in each of his hands. "Where would you like them?" he asked, considering the boy.

They all worked! Well, of course they did. Still, he continued to stare. Lifting up his arm and pointing to it with his nose at the same time, he nodded. "In here is good. Thanks!" Well, this was good. Why hadn't he thought about bringing a multi limbed person along to help him before? This cut down his own workload by half.

"My da told me you need to give things to other people for Christmas, if you want to get things too." yeah, share age old wisdom with the pretty black girl, why don't he. Pausing as he looked at the list, he nodded. "I'm Narayan."

Maybe the pretty black girl would have a name too! Hurray for children and their misconceptions.

"Mother said you give to others without expecting anything in return," Jett murmured quietly, but not judging-- after all, who knew? Everyone had different ideas. "My name is Jett."

Strange trunk-ed creature. Ah well. This... Narayan wasn't the oddest person he'd met...

"Jett? You're really pretty." maybe Jett would let him paint him one of these days. And the thing the creature had said? "Really? Your ma thinks differently from my da... maybe they should meet!"

It was always fun having two different people meet.

Deciding that he had finished with everything on his list, he peered down at his basket. "I've got everything now... what are you doing here, Jett? Do you plan on making stuff too?" he asked.

"Mother... might approve of that," Jett nodded, considering the suggestion, ignoring the comment about himself. After all, what else could he say? "...I was... exploring. I'm here with my Aunt. She had to go look at things alone."

"Aunt? Is she pretty?" It was an automatic question as he looked around, deciding that maybe if she was, it would be good. The world needed more pretty people. It was something Narayan decided he would have to raise. An issue, if you will.

You know. Because adults talked about 'issues' all the time.

"Can I help you with stuff?" He had finished himself. Besides. He was interested. Curious. What was this person who spoke so much more formally than he did?

Pretty... well, Jett supposed so. He knew others thought his aunt was pretty, so why not? "...I suppose she's pretty. And... I'm not sure what I would need help with yet," Jett mused after a moment. He'd come in here because it held a variety of things he'd never seen before, brightly colored things he'd never considered. Ah well. Not something to do-- consider when you were around others-- they might take offense. "I'm just looking around."

Just looking around? Well, that was nice. "I don't really really like stuff like this." he said, pointing to the string he was holding onto. Well, it was certainly pretty enough, and sometimes like now he was inspired to make presents out of it. But really? "I like to paint." his eyes brightened as he looked at Jett. Jett was pretty, certainly! And interesting to look at too.

"Can I paint you?" he asked. Not now, of course. But it was a habit Narayan was starting to pick up-- approaching random people and asking this rather obtrusive question.

Not that Narayan was any good, of course. He just liked to ask. And besides, his father was always telling him practicing was a good thing. Heck. Anything that kept the boy out of trouble, was a good thing.

"I like it. I'm kinda good at it." he said, nodding his head. Modesty, thy name was not Narayan. "And it'd be good."

"...if you want to," Jett shrugged eloquently. "It's your own choice what you paint." If this Narayan wanted to paint Jett, who was the spider-boy to stop him? A painting wouldn't affect Jett in any way, shape, or form-- thus there wasn't a reason Jett could think of to object or encourage. The little boy didn't care either way, didn't care about most things.
