(Sorry about the boring setting Nae XP)

It was an average school day and like usual Delta felt completely exhausted already, She had been late to school due to the fact that her Mum had done a big clean and misplaced all of Delta's school gear and it had taken ages to relocate. In the rush Delta had forgotten to grab her recess bag from the kitchen bench and now her stomach was driving her crazy. She stared at the clock longingly, 5 minutes till the lunch bell sounded and she could race to the canteen to get some food... 4 minutes... 2 minutes... It droned on until finally the bell rang like music to her ears. She packed her writing book into her bag as fast as possible and raced out the door, leaving her teacher with a puzzled look on their face. But that didn't matter, she was out of there and well on her way to getting something to fill her tummy.

She raced on through the hallways of the school, bumping through a few people and shouting apologies as she went until finally she was there and she could smell the glorious smell of freshly cooked food. She jumped into the que which was luckily only a few people long and waited for her turn to be served her tummy grumbling with anticipation.

Narayan made a disgusted expression as he watched the people slop around the gruel like substances from the cafeteria line. Actually, it could have been gourmet cuisine and he would still feel the same way. It was yucky. Food that was made for dozens and dozens of students and all the people lined up... who knew what would float into the dishes? Hair, fur, bits of wings. Ugh.

Holding his own back closer and his grip on his apple tightening, he looked around. He was STARVING. The boy ate like an elephant! (hur hur) As his nose played with the apple in it's grip, moving towards his mouth to allow him a couple of bites at a time, he looked for somewhere to sit down. He liked people, kind of.

And he liked the girls. So many girls!

Seeing a shock of blonde hair in line, he grinned. Hey, he'd seen her around! Cute kid. Maybe she'd grow up to grow a nose on her face too. (His epitome of beauty)

"Hey!"

Delta smiled and thanked the lunch lady as she slopped the last bit of glorious food onto her plate, the menu today seemed to be some kind of meat and gravy with vegetables and gooey mashed potatoes. The food really didnt look that appetizing but Delta really didn't care, the food could have been anything and she would have still eaten it.

She turned away from the line now and looked across to the tables wondering if there was anywhere she could sit today without feeling awkward, she still didn't know many people well. Well, She had her own fair share of 'people she talked to' but not many real friends. She was just about to head in the direction of an empty table when her sensitive ears perked up to the sound of someone calling out a 'hey'. She turned round towards the noise and saw that it was the elephant boy and he seemed to be calling out to her. Cheerfully she smiled and walked over to him, yeah he had definitely called to her (would have been embarrassing if he hadn't meant the hey to be for her).

As she walked she tried to remember his name, she knew it started with an N but she was having trouble recalling the full thing.. "Hey" she said with a smile as she got within talking distance. "I saw you around before but I don't think we have properly met, I'm Delta." She smiled again hoping that this was an opportunity to start a new friendship.

Narayan grinned. Cute. And friendly too! Maybe she had some good looking boobies. Girls. Crap. He kept forgetting that he wasn't supposed to refer to them as boobies any more.

"Narayan." he said, taking another chomp of the apple. Looking down at the food she held in front of her, he made a little face. Ick. Well, he was glad he had aunts who liked to pack him food for lunch. Wasn't the gravy poisonous? "But people call me Nar." ugh. Another face. "Or Rayan." he liked Rayan better. It sounded princely.

Heh. Yeah. Princely.

"Where do you want to eat?" taking it for granted that now that they had introduced themselves they would eat together, he looked around. People were good. Other people, even better. But sometimes it was too distracting, trying to focus on more than one person at a time. Motioning with his nose to a table that seemed more or less deserted, he nodded. "Over there?"

His nose was so useful sometimes.

Phew, he was grinning, she didn't think she was a complete fool delta thought to herself. "Nara-yan" She tried the name out hoping she had pronounced it properly. "Nice name, good and original." Delta saw the face he made at her food "Oh, Are you a vegetarian? If you are I'll bin the meat if it offends you." Delta's mum was a vegetarian so she knew that sometimes seeing meat could make vegetarians feel a little ill.

Hearing Narayan's question about where they should eat Delta scoped out the place, the table she was going to head to before had become occupied by a not-so-friendly looking bunch.. Then she saw the deserted table which Rayan was pointing to...with his nose? Delta was a little shocked that he could do that with his long nose, all she could do with her nose was wriggle it a little. Then she remembered seeing something about elephants and their noses that she had seen on TV, an elephants nose was just like an arm in many ways.

She giggled and nodded, "Yeah, sounds good" and she began to make her way over to the table, her stomach grumbling terribly.

Narayan snickered. "No, no. I love meat." Really, he did. Which kind of offended JD, since the man thought an elephant boy was supposed to stick to... well. Elephant food. Said it was cheaper, or something too. Less trying for the man's account. "The food looks awful here though." yes, the boy was hardly one to keep his opinion quiet, for the sake of others. "I just don't know why you're going to try to put that in your system, and then survive."

A gourmand he was not. Just a little bit snobby. About certain things.

Moving and follow her rather than leading (the boy had a habit of doing that with the female race, for some reason), he tossed the apple core in a standing bin on his way. That was done. And he was hungry too.

Hmmm. Maybe she would share her food, if his wasn't enough. Just because he made fun of it, didn't mean he would say no.

"Yeah the food here reminds me of the sludge you find in the 2-week old leftovers container... But, I forgot my lunch on the way to school and i'm starved." She sat down on one side of the small table and motioned to the seat opposite to her so they could talk face to face. "Is that apple all you had for lunch though? you must be hungry too, feel free to share my sludge. The lunch lady accidentally gave me two forks."

She smiled and slid the spare fork closer to him. "And even though the food looks terrible, It seriously doesn't taste that bad if you just pretend its something else" Smiling she stabbed some of the meat with her fork and scooped some potato mush on top of it before eating it. She had seriously needed some food and as soon as she had swallowed her tummy settled.

Narayan grinned. "No, I have my own." lifting the little brown paper bag (alright. One of his aunts thought it was cute, okay? Like...vintage) he pulled out a couple of more fruits, and a couple of rice balls too. "You can share mine too." he could be generous.

Besides, it woudln't do if she got sick because of the food... in his company. That made him look bad, didn't it? As if somehow he was causing people around him to go sick.

Or something like that.

"I guess if you mix all the food up, it might not taste so bad..." he said thoughtfully, and let out a little snort of amusement. What was he saying? It'd probably taste worse if she mixed it.

Delta grinned "Naw, Thanks though. I had better just eat my mush." she didnt want to take any of his lovingly prepared food, although the rice balls were hard for her to resist. She had only ever had riceballs a few times but man were they addictively tasty. Trying not to notice the really nice smells that were coming from narayans food (darn her super-nose) she mixed her mush together and kept eating, making sure not to talk with a full mouth.

Glad of someone to talk to at lunch Delta tried to think up an interesting conversation starter...hmm...Dragons! Since her was like her in the sense he was part animal he must have a dragon waiting for him too! "So, What kind of dragon are you getting when your older, do you know?" she smiled, feeling a little foolish after she had said it, but she still wished to know. She found the dragons absolutely fascinating. Thinking about dragons made her think about her little egg that was waiting for her at the D-corp facility... She couldn't wait for it to hatch so she could take it home.

Narayn was oblivious to any subtle messages of any kind. Not that she was giving them off-- just, in general. He was like that. Pausing as he ate his food (the boy had a big mouth, and screw chewing! The faster he ate, the better), he had to stop himself from choking.

Dragons!

"Dragon?" his voice came out weaker then normal, but his eyes shone. This was his third favorite topic! No guessing what number one or number two was. Leaning forewords with an expectant gleam in his eyes, he grinned. "Mines blue. They like to burrow and dig."

And that, well. That probably amounted to everything he knew about his dragon. He had quoted that little tidbit of news so often it was reflex. "What about you?" afterall, she must be getting a dragon too if she knew to ask.

"I can't wait. It's being kept hot and cold at the same time. Half in the day, half at night." the words tripped over themselves as he nodded his head eagerly. "I saw one, a red one. So coo'!"

Delta beamed "A blue one? wow it must be so pretty!" she tried to remember if she had seen any blue eggs while she was on the tour.. she couldn't seem to remember seeing any "I don't think I have seen one of those, but I DID see a black one, it was in ACID! really scary looking egg." Grinning she recalled the scary shining black egg. Before continuing talking Delta finished the last few bites of her food before pushing her tray to the side and opening her juice and taking a sip.

"I'm getting a copper one, Its really shiny and was being kept cool in sand." she was so glad that Narayan was interested in dragons too. But then again who ISN'T interested in such wonderful creatures. "My dragon from memory is going to like pretty stones and metals and like to climb" she grinned and sipped some more juice. "I wish i could see all the different dragons types there are..."

Narayan grinned, nodding his head. "I know! Me too. I saw this ice egg. Or was it snow?" he couldn't remember any more... it was such a long time ago! And besides, he had been so intent on seeing his own egg... "Acid? Coool! Do you think the person who gets that one will be safe?" what kind of kid could be safe from acid? Wow, that kid must be cool too!

"Shiny? Shiny is nice!" if his grin stretched any more his lips would split. And as he popped another rice ball into his mouth using his nose, he used the chance to think. Shiny, copper, was it?

Swallowing, he continued. "Copper will be really pretty." he had seen copper kettles, and coins too! "Will it really be copper copper?" he meant the color, of course.

"The girl who had the one in acid looked really really tough, I think she was part lizard so im sure she will be fine" Delta grinned. "but yeah shiny things are awesome, was your egg shiny?" in her mind she pictured a pretty shining blue egg probably getting the complete wrong idea, forgetting that the book on dragons she read had said that blue dragons were part of the more evil dragon group, but hey what do books know.

As Narayan used his nose to eat Delta couldn't help but giggle, she wondered if it was healthy to eat so fast, the time delta had eaten fast she had given herself a stomach ache and had to be put to bed.

"Yeah, I think so, or at least I hope so. The egg was a brilliant copper, well a light copper but still noticeably copper." Delta could talk on forever about her dragon and it wasn't even hatched yet but her thoughts were cut off by the sound of the schools warning bell.

"Ack, That lunch flew by really fast." she began to stand up "I better get this tray back to the lunch lady and head to class, I was late this morning and my teacher will kill me if i'm late again.." she smiled apologetically "But i really had a good time talking with you, and we should meet up out of school some time. Keep in touch you know, you seem like a really good person to have as a friend..we are friends now, right?"

This girl talked more then he did! Getting up with a nod and brushing all the garbage into the brown paper bag, it took him a while to digest everything she had said.

"Delta." it wasn't really him calling her attention, as it was repeating her name. JD had said writing things down or saying it over and over helped to keep it firm in your mind. Helped you remember it. "Friends is good."

Yeah, friends was good. And she liked dragons as much as he did! This was definitly something to talk about... and maybe she would help him figure out a way to loop over the one dragon per kid rule too!

"See you!"

Delta grinned and waved as she rushed over to the cafeteria counter to return the tray, plate and cutlery. She was glad she had met Narayan, he was such a nice friend if not a little strange. But strange was interesting and there was nothing Delta disliked more then people who were dull-zombies.

As she walked quickly back to her classroom she made a mental note to write down Narayan in her Diary as a newly found friend.
