Just keep in mind that you will be using these in a way much more subtle than you may be anticipating... The cards are viewed as some people to be a gateway to the 'collective subconscious'.
I would suggest, looking at the cards you use now, and ask yourself what emotions, thoughts, and feelings they currently hold for you when gaze upon them. It might take a while to understand the way you perceive some cards, but it is well worth it.

It will help you, when making your own Tarot deck, to be able to focus all your energy into conveying the "true meaning" behind the card you are trying to design.
Also, even if a small notion seems silly while making a deck, usually it's your subconscious trying to tell you something important. Stop once and a while if you have to...
You may even find yourself making the same card a couple times, until you think it's right.

Yes, I made my own. Though I did it in a very stupid manner, looking back now. Because I created them and I made them all uneven and odd shapped. I used um, a sketchbook paper, the big one. And cut out the cards myself. And then I drew (very crappily) pictures on the cards.

Afterwards, I waited a couple of weeks and then a blessed them by all the elements to hold true to their predictions.

However, My homemade runes are much better than my tarot cards. They predicted that my friend was going to get a boyfriend (lame, but we weren't going for that.) And it actually happened, which was neat. of course the boy dumped her later, but she has a new one.

I think you might want to try the tarot cards first, and then experiment with runes and other means of divining. :3

First you have to find as many stones as there are symbols in the style runes your making. I made the elder furthark (sp?) I don't remember how many symbols there are off the top of my head. Then I painted all the stones black and painted painted on each symbol in metalic blue. then I concencrated them and put them in a pouch for safe keeping.

its pretty simple, just takes forever to make, but its worth it. I used acrilic paint btw. My friend made me a set of witches runes but my parents found them and threw them out so I made my own.

Im workign on it im not sure exactly sure what I would do the right number and the symboyls and meanings you know.
