"You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not put I'm telling you why." Kishi sang soft as she browsed through a rack of book on how to make stained glass objects. Her wings were tucked closesly to her back as she moved about the shop. It was a craft store that specialise in essentially anything that shone, beads, glass, crystal anything. It was also a place where the you break it you bought it rule was unspoken yet well known and feared.

She'd have picked a safer place to buy presents for her friends had not most of them had an affinity for things that sparkled. Thus she found herself here with her father while they each mulled over the best gifts, or ingrediants needed for their gifts.

For Malen his main reason for being there, other than to supervise Kishi was to get supplies for Del's present. Of course now that he was here he was completely rethinking the whole idea and getting distracted by the buckets full of beads in every colour of the rainbow and then some.

It was nearly christmas, and Jer'ain, despite her dislike of the world outside the apartment, had found it necissary to venture out. There were gifts to be bought, for Lithle, for Savius, for little Taylor. For all the bright beautiful Kindred that her brother so loved, gifts like offerings at the alters of all Jer'ain's gods.

So it was that she entered the craft store, remembering the soft scarves and silver bell loveliness of Savius's raven friend. Glittering crystal was the only proper gift for that one. And perhaps she could find something for little Taylor as well.

The toddler in question was strapped into his stroller, ferociously sucking on his white lion's tail. The responsibility for his care often fell on her, with Lithle being Lithle and Savius always being out. Intent as the little boy was on his current activities, he had not yet noticed his surroundings, or the pretty shiny bits that awaited him.

Giving up on stained glass as a far to confusing and time consuming gift Kishi moved away from the rack but reminded herself that she wouldn't mind getting stained glass at some point as gift of her own. The styles, colours and patterns that the glass could have never mind the amount of shapes and figures it could be worked into were amazing. Hopeing she wasn't thinking to girly like Kishi Moved to another section of the store.

She clutched her wands tight to her body much like her wings She knew it wasn't the best thing to have in a store like this but she was never seperated from it. After all this was was part of who she was and it wasn't so easy to just leave a part of yourself laying around the house.

As she began digging through a bin of coloured glass beads a few rolled off her fingers and onto the floor. Chasing them as they rolled she smiled as one came to a rest after boucncing off the wheel of a stroller. " Sorry about that" she said sheepishly walking over to retreive the bead and smile at the adorable baby, he felt familiar somehow.

Jer'ain jerked as the girl came near the stroller, all but hissing through her teeth. At least it was only a little one, too young to be an actual threat. Still, the girl was near Taylor and she didn't like it when people were near Taylor. She was supposed to protect him.

Breathe. This was a trial. She had to obtain the proper offering for Savius's bright pretty boy. Maybe the raven would smile at her. That would be nice.

She could do this.

Taylor, meanwhile, was suffering no such nerves. With Jer'ain close at hand, he was in what he felt safe enough to not mind the girl's nearness, indeed, he barely noticed it. Because there, right there, all roll sparkle glitter, was something that should be his!

He leaned forward, against the seatbelt, fussing in irritation as the bead was picked up by someone else. It was shiny! He wanted it.

Now.

"Wan!" He looked straight up at the girl, too young or too focused to notice any familarity. His own wand was tucked away, out of sight, in the same bag that held his bottles and toys.

Kishi grinned at the boy she knew him she was sure of it, though she didn't recall ever having seen him before. It was like when she Zah as a baby and she didn't know him but she knew him becuase she's seen him as a babyghost and remembered the feel of him. " Did this baby come from a wand?" Kishi asked glancing up at the person in charge for a moment before returning her eyes to the baby.

Noting the boy's interest in the bead she held out her hand. If he made a move to swallow it she could always snatch it back. " You did stop it so I guess it was meant to be yours." She was getting that feeling again, that desire to cuddle close to a baby feeling and she didn't know why.

Jer'ain, lanky teenage girl, boyish in looks to the point of being deceptive, peered down at the girl and frowned. What she wanted to say is 'go away'. What she wanted was Savius, bright and bold, to be here with words and ideas to make everything seem safe again.

This was a trial.

"Stick." She admitted at last, the word made short by her dislike of talking to those that weren't within the family. "Don't touch him."

The bead within reach, Taylor immediately reached out to take it, his brief anger fading, replaced by giggling good nature. Shiny. Shiny, shiny, shiny.

"Gag!" He gave the girl a broad toothless smile, and it was clear that he thought he'd said something important, though what exactly was unclear.

Kishi rolled her eyes at the girl " I'm not going to hurt him, was he ever smokey and attached to the stick, becuase I think maybe I know him from when he would have been like that." Kishi was aware she was agitating the older girl but this was too important for her to be driven off becuase of a cranky guardian.

She laughed softly at the boys word " Lets hope you don't gag becuase I don't think the store people would like that." The succbus girl was amused both by the attempt to speak and how happy a simply bead could make him. Then again she'd be extremely happy back on easter when she found a single easter egg.

Malen having spotted Kishi having a conversation with someone decided he'd best head over and see what was going on. He smiled at everyone and gave a calm "Hello, I hope there's nothing the matter here."

While Jer'ain was perfectly able to communicate with shrugs and eye rolls at home, when not with family such things simply left her. She didn't know how to read people who were not her people, and the girl certainly fell within that catagory.

"Yes." She answered, because she thought she'd answered it before. Reaching into the bag in the back of the stroller, she took out Taylor's stick and handed it to the young boy. He promptly stuck the end in his mouth, gurgling happily. "Don't touch him."

The last said in case there had been some confusion last time. She didn't care if the girl was going to hurt him, she wasn't to touch him.

Malen was given no more than a quick, suspicious look. He hadn't asked a question, and therefore didn't need an answer. And since he hadn't shown any interest in Taylor, he didn't need a warning either.

Taylor, meanwhile, was in heaven. There was a shiny thing in his hand, his deliciously shiny wand in his mouth, and the nice girl was here to talk to him.

"Ya gag." He had to take the wand out of his mouth to talk, but that was ok. The shiny in his hand sparkled all nicely in the light. He waved it around a bit to watch it shine.

" I knew I knew you" Kishi said recogizing the wand, I don't rememer much I know I met you before" This was said as she crouched down and got as close to the boy as she could without touching him or invading his space too much. " I'm glad I got to meet you again."

Malen too recognised the wand but not the person with Taylor " You're babysitting for Lithle I presume?" He wondered if this girl was a sibling of Taylor or just hired to care for him today.

Amused himself by Taylor's antics he grinned " I swear half the wand children are shiny obsessed."

Jer'ain's gaze followed the girl as she crouched, making sure that some amount of space was left between them. She had said no touching, and there would be no touching. Malen got a brief glance, a fluttering upward look, and a frown, before she returned to supervising Taylor. "She's my guardian."

Guardian because only Savius got to call Lithle 'Mom' or 'Dad', and her brother used to the two of them interchangably. Despite this, the three children were siblings, Savius had said so. So Taylor was her brother, and her responsibility. She had to take care of him, to keep him safe, because outside the family, no one else would.

"Wan sin." Taylor managed, speaking around the wand in his mouth. "Sin gag."

Setting the bead carefully on his lap, so that it wouldn't roll away, the infant reached forward to touch the girl's shoulder with his outstreached hand. "Gag."

Kishi accepted the touch though tense slighty wondering if the boy's caretaker would yell at her for letting him touch her. Not that she really cared, she was far more interested in the baby than the teen. " I don't know what you're saying it's been a long time since I was that small." Kishi figured that all babies understood each other but as they grew up they started to learn normal languages they lost that ability if they aged different.

" Would you like more shiny things?" Kishi said pointing to the bead as a refence . " If it's ok I can get you something bigger and shiny as a present." She barely knew the boy but she liked him and wanted to give him something nice, perhaps it would lure him back to the headquarters where she could see him again.

Taylor snatched up the bead the moment the girl pointed at it, apparently not so friendly that he was willing to share her prize. His! But the girl still seemed friendly, so beyond grabbing up the bead, he continued to smile and giggle at her. She was a nice lady.

"He would like that." Jer'ain admitted, because it was true, and Taylor couldn't answer her. Besides, maybe the girl would go away while looking for the 'something bigger' and she could do her own shopping. She certainly wasn't going to leave Taylor alone with not one, but two strangers around. They might-- she wasn't even sure what they might do, but she knew that it would be bad.

Kishi grinned " Ok then I'll be right back with something just as sparkly for you." She winked at Taylor and walked away to find just the right gift.

Malen shook his head, he'd thought Lithle anti -social not that that had prevented them from being a good person. This girl however screamed leave me alone with her entire body. " I suggest not trying to leave before she's done lest she hunt you down via the headquarters registry." Malen had no doubt that her word given about giving a gift Kishi would do such a thing just to make sure it got delivered. He was also sure this girl did not want to find Kishi on her doorstep anytime soon.

Jer'ain heard the man's words, the irritating, grating buzz of sound of one who was not hers and not kin, and if she was special, like Savius, she would close her wings around herself and hide. But she didn't have wings. So she simply wheeled Taylor away, not leaving, but browsing through the sparkling bits. Coming across bright bells and beads of opal fire, she selected some putting them in one of the small hand baskets the store provided.

This... this was something that the raven boy would like. He had jingled like birdsong when he had visited. This, and maybe some new dead animal, a squirrel or a cat.

That would make him smile, and Savius would be so very proud.

Kishi wanded the isles searching or just the right gifts, some were too shing and others not bright enough, some to complex for a child to have and others more boring then the single bead he owned. "You'd think finding one shiny thing in a store filled with them wouldn't be so hard."

A moment later she found what she was looking for. A large orb made of tiger's eye. It was shiny but had it's own coloures and it just seemed right.

Spotting her targets she walked over and crouched beside the strolled again. holding out the stone." What do you think, is this a good one?"
