No, Clive is devoid of all feelings. He was merely expressing an image of happiness to deceive the ones close to him. However, Clive never considered them 'friends;' mere accomplices, peers, or even just acquantinces. Clive cannot be happy, he is a killing machine, and a killing machine must not have feelings.
